You're absolutely right that the game, taken strictly as a platformer, is easy. But as others have mentioned, the core idea behind this game is to get people to compete against each other, and therein lies the challenge. Think of Mikey Shorts as an "Introduction" to speedrunning. But I also understand that competing on a single level for hours doesn't appeal to everyone. We'll definitely be looking at more disguises, and maybe a new disguise category. During development, I originally was thinking we'd have disguises costing upwards of 30k coins. But we didn't want people to have to do massive grinding to get all of the disguises -- we wanted people to get all the disguises fairly quickly, because a lot of the fun is trying on all the disguises and randomizing them! I hear you on the coins! You should have heard the early challenge levels when we had double the coins in them. Annoying! I'm sure you already know this, but you can disable sounds effects in Options. Sorry no volume control. And you should be able to play your own music. Have you tried playing any? Let me know if it isn't working for you. But you should be able to start up your iPod music, and then play Mikey Shorts with it still playing. I think I would suck too bad at my own game! You guys and gals are really tearing up the leaderboards. I'm having more fun reading and watching the competition firsthand.
Just completed the game 100%. All I can say is that I look forward to buying your next game the second it comes out. No hesitation this time. Wow, what a great game, I recommend it to anyone for their free time. It instantly became my go to game in my little free time.
...no, it was not. Now I have to figure out how to get around 876 points there before dealing with the other levels, and it does not seem possible. If this is a ploy to distract me, it's working very well.
No ploy, I assure you - my best there is 850, so far. Now I'm dying to know where you got your 100 points from, though! I'd be interested to see people's individual challenge stage times, too - or maybe that's just part of the intrigue.
Man, some of these challenge levels are a pain to get 3 stars on! xP Level 25 was probably the hardest for me so far...took me around 30ish tries before I broke the 600 mark, lol.
Wow a 100 on Metacritic? World of Goo should take down its statement On its page that it's the highest rated on Metacritic
@andonis & woohoo What score you guys getting on C-1 just curious I'm only up to 40 so far only 3 starring so far but spent alot of time on C-1
My C-1 is at 823, though I wouldn't say I've spent a terrible amount of time on any one level. I like to just start at the beginning and play thought the whole circuit to keep things fresh.
That's what I'm doing with challenges spamming 1 level constantly I find it drains your edge but spent 20 min on c-1 got 810 little behind but gives me good idea what to aim for cheers
Just 3 starred all challenges just about scraped into the top 20 happy with that , now to start shaving times..... Well tomorrow
just bought this yesterday after reading the TA review, while I'm not a huge platform fan I'm really enjoying this. The graphics, controls and everything is spot on, the levels have real flow to them when you nail a perfect speed run and I can see how they mentioned super mario as its really got that same feel to it. For an indie game I'm impressed. Only thing I can say I'd like to see would be outfits for your character instead of just hats, eyes and face. Overall though brilliant and all for 69p!
I'm glad you are enjoying the game, and thanks for taking a chance! I think more disguises, and outfits, have been the most requested thing.
I's there alot of women/girls playing this game ??? As everyone wants to play dress up and wanting costumes lol
Almost missed this one. Yeah, we're going to add a new Options button that will resync all of your GC scores and achievements AND unlock any disguises that *should* have already unlocked. That will be coming in an update at some point. Sorry about that!!!
