Totally looking forward to the beta I just heard about the beta from the latest TA podcast and signed up. I have the Mikey Trilogy and hope I am not too late to test out Mikey Jumps. Theses games rock!
Signed up! Loved the Mikey Trilogy. Just like with Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, more of the good stuff can't be a bad thing
Mikey Jumps by BeaverTap Games How does it work if one of my kids is sick? Do I have to send both Mikes a doctor's certificate by fax? :? Oh, wait, it ain't a 24/7 job in their basement I was afraid of the commute time, being like in Europe and all
We finally posted a Mikey Jumps beta version for you folks to try! Leave feedback/comments/bugs/issues using this form: Beta Feedback Form You can also leave feedback in this thread. We'll be around. Thanks!
First glance: will there be a timed element to the game? Speedrunning is what made me fall in love with these games
Yeah, I know! The whole time-based speed running is what brought the two of us together in the first place to create the Mikey Trilogy. Unfortunately, there is no timed element in Mikey Jumps. Due to the auto-running component, a timed component didn't really make sense. But definitely give it a try if you are in the beta group. It's different, but the people that have played it so far really enjoy it.
This game is super fun. Don't worry about it being an auto runner because it's done very well. Of course the controls are spot on. Addictive and sure to be a hit! It looks like they are going to release this as a free game. I am surprised by the main iap being having 6 hearts instead of 3 because that is sort of p2w right? If you are trying to do better on the leader boards getting the iap would give you an advantage.
Need to play more, but definitely not what I was expecting. Not sure yes if this is a good or bad thing. Levels are much shorter and zoomed out. This almost looks like something that could have been a precursor to original Mikey Shorts. This is stil a "Mikey" game so it's fun and the controls are obviously spot on. Will try and play more today and give additional impressions, but on first glance it's good just a little different than the others.
I'm now through to Level 18 and ready to guve some feedback: * I don't really miss the timed leaderboards. In the originals, I'd typically just hold right the entire time except when passing through one of those vertical chicanes, so it makes very little difference to how I play. * The game feels a lot like Mikey crossed with Mr. Jump. I'm happy with this. * I would like to see something on the level select screen to indicate which levels have been completed with no deaths. * Hearts - you get three per run, you can watch an ad to start your next run with six hearts, or there's a $2 IAP to always start with 6 hearts. I don't really mind this (it's basically the same as the "video ad for a continue" model that a lot of games have) but I don't want to make the purchase as I feel it will make the game easier/shorter. If there was an option to watch a video when you run out of hearts for a continue, instead of doing it up front, I might be more tempted. As it is, I've avoided the IAP and not watched any ads. * Ads for coins/coin doubler IAP. Again, haven't gone near this.
In terms of how you unlock hats and other accesories, it might be nice to allow you to buy the item of your choice from the shop, but for like 500-1000 coins rather than 100 for a random item
I'm enjoying the game so far, level 5, I haven't had a lot of time to play. I'm not that great at platformers so I took the 6 hearts IAP lol I find some levels pretty challenging already I'll gather my impressions and remarks for later. One quick question: the GC leaderboard is the different coins you have found in the levels right? Any way to see if and where you have missed some while still completing the level ? Thanks guys
