I'm sorry but the man has a felony on his record. In real life you can't do much with that tag on your lives record. Can't vote, can't own a gun, can't apply for federal aid, and some other restrictions. Oh but wait he can run the football pretty good lets give him his millions of dollars. He paid his dues in jail but not in the real world. His second chance should be living a life as a normal citizen with a felony.

A convict is "a person found guilty of a crime and sentenced by a court" or "a person serving a sentence in prison",

Symantics:rolleyes: Anyway your right, it's not going to change. Hence the anger. But that doesn't make it right. Evil prospers where good men do nothing.

What makes me mad is that he signed with the Eagles. The Eagles are a perfectly good team without him, and with Michael Vick on there, it just messes the whole team up. I would rather have Vick sign with some other really bad team like Buffalo.

I'm not a big fan of the Eagles, but they are better than Vick. They don't need Vick, McNabb and Westbrook is all they need. I'm just mad that Vick actually got onto a good team and not a bad one.

I agree completelty! What this guy did is horrible. Those dogs were beaten, totured, and killed in ways that are frankly to horrible to imagine. Just because he sentence doesn't compare to the crime does not mean he served his time. Arguing about how he should not be held accountable because some one else in an unrelated crime got away with serving little to no time, does not make sense. This crime is a horrific crime it's not Martha Sterwart selling stocks type of crime. His "second" chance should be to flipping burgers and struggling to make ends meet like most of the people in this country. He should not be in the position where he serves as a role model for children!

Well I don't see it so much on Vick because he is trying to make as much money as possible by signing with a team. If I was in his position of course I'd take the NFL contract if some idiots are willing to pay me regardless of my past.

I look at it this way, The Eagles ownership signed him. They are just as dirty as he is for putting this guy on their team and paying him to be on it. That is not the type of organization I would want to be affiliated with. Also I look at the commissioner too for letting this guy back in.

And where is McNabb in all this? Didn't he have anything to say? He sure did when TO was there but obviously having a loud mouth must be worse in his mind than killing a bunch of dogs.

EDIT: Killing and torture on any living thing and raping are things that don't deserve second chances with the type of money that is being made here. This is a priviledge, you f it up you don't deserve that privilege anymore.

Killing dogs isn't nearly as bad as killing a person... Yet you guys seem so upset about it. Look at Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens and Dante Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns, who killed people and hardly got any punishment. Nobody seems too upset about that.

And to the person who said Buffalo is a really bad team you don't know what you're talking about, they'll be pretty good this year.

I don't agree with you here. Killing for sustenance is one thing, this guy had people killing and torturing dogs for profit and fun. Does that seem like a sane man to you? How about if I torture some horses for the hell of it, I mean I am not killing people so all is good and forgivable, right?

    I totally disagree with you.

Well then start a thread about them and I'll give you the same argument. Luckily this is about Michael Vick, and what he did. Dante Stallworth and Ray lewis should both be kicked out on their asses as well and any other Convicted felon in the NFL. Why reward him?? Because he's good at throwing a ball, and playing grabass with the center?

Again, you're getting mad at Vick for the Eagles signing him. Vick didn't control or force anything so you can't get mad at him for something beyond his control.

Also, to the person who mentioned McNabb, he actually was lobbying for Vick to come to the team. He thinks he'll be a valuable member and is actually really glad they got Vick.

I also wanted to mention Vick was never a bratty loudmouth, like Terell Owens or Chad Ochocinco. He's never complained or ran his mouth, which some of you assume he's been doing.

Your mistaken, my anger extends far past vicks crimes, and right into the NFL as a whole. I don't think ENTERTAINERS should be cast as societies elite. Why don't we give his million dollar salary to somebody who's curing cancers, or expanding space travel? The NFL rewards societies dregs and puts them right in the spotlight, allowing them to influence the more impressionable. The NFL, and NBA are jokes. They've become nothing more than glorified half way houses.

I can agree with you there. Teachers, police, pretty much all people doing good to society are way underpaid whereas people who are good at meaningless things that accomplish nothing besides entertaining the masses are ridiculously overpaid.

I don't care what he did, I just like watching a good game of football, and vick can play a good game. The sport is already filled with dopers, rapers, criminals and gangsters, they may not hold a gun straight to your head, but they'd prolly pay someone to do it. I'm excited to see him back, I think it'll make for a good season.

So a good season is more important to you than whats right and wrong in life? Thats pretty uncaring if you ask me. And to say you dont care about what he did is just ignorant.
I agree with most people on here. Michael Vick is an asshole and doesnt deserve to be in the NFL.

Well they aren't being paid from the tax money or the governemt isn't paying them, so what they get paid shouldn't be a problem toanyone since it's the owners of the fanchise who are willing to pay them. You should actaually blame the government for underpaying the teachers and police officers (that is if they are being underpaid)

plus these atheletes don't jus play for a few hours each day or week and get millions, if you know the sports you would know how mch training and allthe other stuff they have to do

BTW, I'm glad vick got another shot. He paid his dues unlike some movie celebreties who basiclly make a joke of the system. And I hate PETA, they need to calm the **** down

Should he get a second chance? Absolutely not.

He didn't "make a mistake," as other posters have said. He engaged in a pattern of illegal and sadistic behavior over a period of several years. He knowingly operated a facility where animals were brutally tortured, and considered this to be a form of entertainment.

This isn't a mistake; it's not an "oops, my bad!" situation. The fact that he advocated such treatment of animals demonstrates a serious problem. To think that he can simply "turn over a new leaf" really minimizes the pathology involved.

The argument that other players use drugs, etc. doesn't really hold water. I couldn't care less if rich, spoiled pro athletes shoot steroids in their butts or snort drugs up their noses. They can trash their bodies however they want and it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. Torturing animals, on the other hand, crosses the line of what most people consider to be acceptable behavior for anyone.

I was happy to see the protests in Philly on the national news. Hopefully he will be booed the minute he sets his paws on the field! I don't know anyone who thinks it was really nice for the Eagles to give him a second chance. I think most people are repulsed by the idea. I certainly hope Eagles fans make their reservations known.

Did I even mention a government position? No did not. My problem doesn't lay with the government, it lays with people like you who empower these people. I don't care how hard football is, it's still just playing a GAME.

If it was just a game they play, then why are we siting our asses at home and not making millions playing just a game

again, I don't condone what vick did, but I firmly believe he paid his dues

and to the poster who said he doesn't deserve another chance. Put yourself or your loved one in his shoes ad any anoter situation ad just think if you would want a second chance or not. It's easier to deny a stranger of a second chance, but if it's you or a loved one, you would definately Beg for a second chance
