I will say the first couple levels seemed to be too straightforward for me - just keep matching 4s. I almost gave up thinking that all the levels were just matching 4. It gets really tough (and more fun) when you start having to match 5. You definitely need to start using the special pieces There it was important for me to save the game (thanks for that feature!!).
