hyung... i guess its pretty much like the iPad / iPhone compatability.. some devs are making their apps universal , whilst others like yourself make 2 seperate versions.. i totally understand your reasons for making a third version, and the business implications involved with the extra work involved... it just doesnt make the 'hit' any easier for the consumer... example, when most people buy iPhone apps, they know that they are safe in the knowledge that the version they buy will be supported with free updates, which is an Apple stipulation.. which makes the App future proof.... however, that will no longer be the case. So any customers out there who at some point will be thinking of upgrading to an iphone 4 will be wary of buying apps, knowing that they will need to buy another version of those apps for their new idevice.. its a tricky situation, which has been forced on us all thanks to apple changing the screen resolution.. Have apple made any statements to devs on this subject?
Yeah, I totally agree with you. I buy probably a dozen games per week, and I love it when a developer updates their game for free. As far as I know, Apple hasn't made any formal or informal statements to devs about this, at least not to us.
Bundle or not Well, I totally do not comment your economical decissions, because that's really your own private right. Its really not the money, because I do not care for some bucks... that's why appstore developers are able to make money The real thing, that is annoying me the combination of several versions of the same game and the update process. I have an iPad and an iphone (4), and if an update emerges, one version of an device-fragmented app is automatically worse than the other. This sucks, because it simply sucks! Maybe take the "Sword of Fargol" situation as an terrible example. The spontanious purchase argument I think does only matterfor apps with an 0.99 $ price tag. I guess an in-app-purchase solution for retina or HD contents would be the overall best solution for the market and community. Just look at the iPad section of this forum. It's relativly dead.
Agreed, nothing compares to it in terms of speed and intensity, smoothness of controls, and Meteor Blitz was as far as I'm aware the first game to implement auto pause and has a near instant launch time. Space Miner is a quality game, but for someone who wants space shooting action, or a flawless dual-stick shooter, Meteor Blitz is unrivaled. And they've continued to regularly support the game and make it better and better. I'm loving the sound of the new features such as swipe to change weapons. The iPhone 4 specific version sounds cool too, and I'd surely get it if I were planning to get an iPhone 4. Maybe in about a year or two I'll pick up an iPod Touch 4G. What I really want though, is just more games from Alley Labs. I've been dying to see what these devs will accomplish after Meteor Blitz.
Well, it's actually a dual-stick shooter, not a vertical shooter, but I guarantee you will love it anyway.
Seeing graphics like this is the only time I wish I had an ipad! Seriously! Plays a bit like PewPew but with some added twists and graphics that you could swim in. Very sweet, thanks Vovin and Albie. Media, my wife says your a bad influence on me. This is like the fourth game in a month you've gotten me to buy. (keep it up )
Haha, happy to help, but watch out for the wife's wrath...I know all about that myself! Still trying to decide if I should tell her I just bought Street Fighter 4 yesterday... :-/ Say, what were the other three games, just out of curiosity?
Code: Super Stardust HD if you've played it. If you want to go as broad as calling it a dual stick shooter, there's nothing like it honestly. Absolutely worth getting though.
Crash Course is very similar to Meteor Blitz. I prefer Meteor Blitz of course...but Crash Course is quite good in its own right.
I have both CC and MB. but 90% of the time. I'll be playing MB. It's lag free and it's gameplay is superb. compared to CC... oh and PEWPEW 2 is a close alternative to MB.
crash course is fun, but it's honestly nothing compared to meteor blitz. to me, no dual stick shooter is anywhere as good as this, except my other fave, pewpew 2. the gameplay is pretty different but they share one important similarity- extremely sharp and responsive controls.
