Will give this a try when it's downloaded. Big difference from the 4S though, recommend the upgrade to anyone. Gameplay is the same but graphics are alot higher on many new games. Anyway back on topic... oldgamer dude Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2013 487 0 0 #9 oldgamer dude, Jul 16, 2013 This looks really cool, just worried if that text is too small on the smaller devices? ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #10 ojtitus, Jul 16, 2013 Well let's start with the good. The graphics look nice on my mini, so I can not comment if they are retina or not. The game plays well with the left stick for movement and swipe to look around. There is an iron sight button for aiming manually and is better for attacking at distance. Aiming when not using iron sight mode allows for auto aiming as long as you are within range and keep the enemy in your aiming reticle. After completing missions you are awarded with experience and gold. Both of which are used in the research section, experience points are used to unlock new gear from a tree of different items. Here is where things start to get a little troublesome, three of the better items can only be purchased with "metal credits", which you can buy via IAP for real money. These "metal credits" can also be converted into cash or experience points. I've only played four missions in and can't say if there is a way to earn " metal credits" in game. I am stuck on the fourth mission and will have to replay the earlier missions to try and earn some experience and cash to upgrade my weapons as I have only upgraded my generator so far. It's a fun game but expect replaying of levels to earn enough money and experience to upgrade you gear. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #11 squarezero, Jul 16, 2013 I am a little concerned about "Metal Credits" as well, but it seems like there's plenty of upgrading available without them. I always expect to do some grinding in games like this one -- just hope it's not excessive. As to the gameplay itself, the one addition that made a huge difference in the little time I've spent with the game is a well-implemented hover ability, which is just fun. On the first mission I was able to take a higher position on an enemy base, which changed the dynamics of the combat. By comparison, movement in MW2 felt very clunky and slow, especially in the early levels. Here you feel much more in control of your mech. I'll play more tonight, but so far MW3 is doing a good job scratching my mech action itch . Bought. Damn we need more decent Mech games on iOS. I'm looking at your Mech-ride scene in NOVA3, Gameloft. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #13 ojtitus, Jul 16, 2013 It's definitely a fun game worth picking up if you enjoy mech battling and customization. on a side note the first two Metal Wars games are free right now. The first MW is a top down twin stick shooter style and MW2 is similar to MW3 with the third person view but as squarezero mentioned it is not as polished as MW3. oldgamer dude Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2013 487 0 0 #14 oldgamer dude, Jul 16, 2013 Is anybody playing on an iPhone or touch? There are no other camera views besides the regular and iron sight. Bool Zero Well-Known Member Dec 14, 2010 1,922 0 36 #17 Bool Zero, Jul 16, 2013 I may have to grab this... I vaguely remember playing the last one but I am a sucker for mech games and this o e looks promising... I just wish there was an iOS equivalent to MechWarrior or at the very least Heavy Gear in way of upgrading and complexity in tactics. It worries me that this looks a little too reliant on strafe and shooting with not much else in the way of tactics though... squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #18 squarezero, Jul 16, 2013 I'm playing on an iPhone 5, and the text is fine. oldgamer dude Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2013 487 0 0 #19 oldgamer dude, Jul 17, 2013 Thanks squarezero time to buy toxiccheese Well-Known Member Mar 21, 2010 394 0 0 #20 toxiccheese, Jul 17, 2013 Is the grammar ok?
