I like you a lot more now. :>
Porcupine Tree is too poppy for my taste, still good if I'm in the mood for that.
    And SX is still good.

Don't like Symphony X?! Man, I thought you was cool! :p They're one of the few power metal-related groups I actually enjoy. That and Russell Allen is an insanely good singer. Oh, and Michael Romeo is easily one of the best shredders out there.

Agreed with the first one, not a fan of Romeo as a guitarist (while I do admit he is good).

Talented no doubt. I will agrue nothing against that. They are an amazing band. But I just can't get into their music... I don't know why. I can listen to it, it just leaves an empty feeling in me lol. And that and (Sorry Balu`) Allen is not that great of a singer to me. And I think it might be one of the more major reasons why I can't get into them. I just don't like his vocals. He has a great voice just not for me. He was rad in Star One though. But that's cause he wasn't the only vocalist.

And don't let me fool you, I am definitely not cool.

And concerning Porcupine Tree. Yeah, they do have a lot of more straight-forward sound songs, but there's so much subtlety and atmosphere to their recordings that it works amazingly well. That and they have an incredibly varied discography, Fear of a Blank Planet straight up awesome porog rock/metal, while Stupid Dream is awesome and simple Pychedelic Pop Rock with some touches of prog here and there.

And yeah, I could see that. Russell Allen pretty much makes that band. I can't imagine why you wouldn't like him though.

My favourite album was Deadwing. Dunno why, just the one I listen to the most I guess. I love their lyrics hahaha. But yeah they definitely have a wide range of sound, and a huge reason why I like them so much.

Haven't actually heard a lot other than a little Incredible Expanding Mindf*ck, and some work that he has done with Opeth and Anathema.

I think they would be too Melodeath for you, but they aren't bad.

This is one of my favourite song's from them.

Well not all of their stuff is... I like their new singer more than their older singer. Glad you are enjoying it though. Once again, surprised as usual. LOL

Even their heavier stuff is more like.. folkish melodeath. Anyway, folk/gothic influence creates a nice atmosphere.
