Hm... I'm not sure if that'd work as well as they could a few centuries ago. People have pretty diverse musical tastes these days . Theoretically, I could enjoy most the songs you've posted. However, due to my space constraints, I've lifted my minimum cut-off mark a bit high to only keep the exceptional, or highly enjoyable songs (eg. catchy melody, riff, vocal with minimal 'boring' sections). ------------------------------------ Shadow Gallery is on my to-do list. Royal Hunt is almost there but... yeah, not quite 'there'. Adagio. ^. Their most recent album is fairly enjoyable though. I've got Fairyland albums alrdy. Edguy didn't give a second thought. Dismissed. Dark Moor is boring compared to the symphonic albums I already have.
So some more offers to formulate some kind of band came through last night. Most interesting one, is one that I am actually going to start very soon, is from a friend of mine and his GF. He literally posted this on my page and asked if I could make music like this, because they want to do the lyrics and vocals for it. Which in all honesty is fine with me, since those are my two biggest weaknesses: Anyways, I already like the song and was shocked that they even knew who the band was, and I think I have the capabilities. Also, it would be interesting making simple music like this, so long as they have the vocal power. I have never heard either of them sing, but they seem pretty confident.
Well, if I were you, I'd listen to them before doing anything, but it does sound interesting. I liked the plans you had yesterday a little more, though. ^^ @gunxsword: You don't like Edguy, therefore I stopped talking to you.
Oh yeah absolutely, I'm going over to their house tonight and going to drink with them and such. Check out their abilities. I plan on having several projects though. I even have a buddy who has a full Gameboy Colour and NES rig for making Chiptune, and want's me to collaborate with him.
That's a plan! :> And that's something I'm not the least bit interested in. >.< Found any music for me yesterday?
Yeah like, as of last night I have a ton of ambitions and stuff, both with writing (Not just music, but reviews for games/music/etc.) and several projects that I want to get involved with. Basically I plan on changing my life around from dull and lifeless to busy and fun. LOL I know you're not interested in that at all, but I figured it was something to note Nothing that you don't already know, but still keeping an eye out for that gem that's going to sweep you off your feet and make you abandon all your current music.
Yeah, I don't remember you being this ambitious. Few things worse than a busy life I think, though. True. But what exactly do you like about that stuff?>.< I sure hope you do. I'm constantly searching for new stuff. Right now I love the non-metal Kauan albums.
I haven't been this ambitious in a long time friend... a long long time... Few things are worse than a busy life. One of those few things is leading an unfulfilled one I've encountered some artists who's Chiptune is boring. I like the kind that is energetic and intricate (for Chiptune anyways...). I know you probablly won't listen to it, because you hate it, but this is the vein of things me and the other guy want to produce (This guy is our Chiptune idol..) (things start getting most interesting about 1:04, and REALLY fun at about 1:47) That's cool, I listened to a bit of Ayreon in the car on the way to work, but I have been back and forth at one of our sites reloading programs, and consequently haven't had a lot of tie to even listen to music, let alone look for it >.<
Well, let's hope you'll have fun with your projects. :x Maybe... I actually listened to.. half of it. :x It's not bad, but it's very similar to regular electronic stuff just with retro game sounds. >.< That sucks. But do you have time now maybe?:ĐĐ
hahahha trust me, it is! I gotta worry about making myself happy and keeping my son happy before I can be happy with anyone else. My ex is already with other dudes and such, but I don't care. It's seriously none of my business anymore, nor do I genuinely care lol. I would do the same, but in all honesty I'm just not worried about it right now. >.< Well you made it much further than I would have ever guessed lol. Exactly, that is pretty much what it is, I like the more hardstyle stuff and this essentially that clothed with beautiful 8 bit loveliness ^.^ I might have time in a few hours. I'm still bouncing back and forth between places. lol
Well, it looks like you're in a good mood lately.. so whatever you can do to keep that up. :x Hardstyle is awful. Pretty much every "heavy" electronic stuff is awful. >.< That sucks. Especially for me. >.>
You didn't like As We Die or As I Lay Dying so there's no way we can talk on a human level -_- How long are we talking about here? 4 decades? Half a century? Hm... I actually prefer a busy life over a lot of other lifestyles. Dunno about you though.
@gunxsword: Yeah, but thoes bands are from a genre I absolutely hate, while Edguy are playing a style similar to some bands you liked. ^^ How do you like this?
=_= Edguy just didn't sound appealing, a common trait exhibited bands/albums/songs that I delete en masse. Can't say I don't like it but I've heard better. Sounds like (*cough inferior to) a melodic black album I posted some time ago.
Bah. My endgoal is still to get you to delete most of you metalcore. ^^ Inferior?! Melodic black?! This is top-notch viking metal. But whatever. >.< Old Ulver?
NEVER!!! I consider metalcore as the most 'fun' genre to listen to!!! (melodeath is beautiful, symphonic is grand/epic, grind is intense). Btw I'm somewhat doing that already as I'm on a hunt to delete the mediocre songs off my library. It's sad actually, as a lot of songs that I used to enjoy sound very average now. Yes meloblack. The viking/folk influences are minor. The shrieked vocals and blast drum beats only cement the theory that this band is meloblack rather than viking. Googled it abit. Downloading their oldest album now. That song is quite interesting too. ------------------------------------- Lately I've been digging technical death metal. Found this piece of Australian awesomeness:
That sucks. I don't see why you are deleting stuff, though. I have about ~200GB of music, no intentions of deleting. Viking metal directry originated from black. Stuff like Moonsorrow or even Bathory is viking metal. Plus, the riffs are somewhat folky, pushing their style even closer to viking. Yeah, that's their only album you'd like, maybe their third. The evolution of their music is really interesting, though. What as surprise, I did not like that. >.<
I simply don't like keeping hold of junk, anywhere in my life. I delete (or retire ) stuff that I find to be redundant. Plus, modern day metalcore has more shit than enjoyable songs. Everything that is melody focused gets pushed into the 'melodic' genre for me. It's a way of simplifying things and not having to stress myself over labeling albums (I'm meticulous about the album infos and stuff). Evolution!? It applies to bands!? I thought bands could either hold steady, decline or rebirth (and die away)! It's just my pessimistic outlook for bands in general. What a surprise, I wasn't expecting you to like that More of the same stuff: If you dislike this than we can never be friends again >.< At the very least, try to appreciate the riff halfway through the song (2:06)
That is true.. but going back to stuff you liked a long time ago but haven't listened to in a long time is great. Seriously. Calling everything melodic is general, but fine. However, calling the more specific genre name incorrect isn't. ;D Haha, I know. I.. don't think we're friends now. :X That riff wasn't that bad, but nothing outstanding in my opinion. Random folkpower recommendation:
True true, if only I can find the songs to be as interesting as my recent stuff that is. Does melodic viking metal exist? If not, I'll continue to shuffle all viking material under melodic black. -_-' W/E. I'll ask Booch what he thinks of it . It's not like you're qualified to comment on melodeath/tech death songs anyway . LOVED IT. I have a feeling that I would like many of their albums. Which one (other that one) would you recommend? *EDIT: Why can't you recommend more stuff like this? @_@
