I am sorry, but I wouldn't regard IGN as anyone who know's what the hell they are talking about in regards to anything considered "Music". I have heard American Idiot. In some ways, I guess you can consider it a "Rock Opera" in the sense that it has multiple characters, and he sings from those characters points of views... However... I just have trouble considering it as such since Billie Joe is about the only one who sings, and often sets the narrative for the story. I think there was only a song or two with a chick from what I remember, and the other two members only had a few parts in addition to back up vocals. In my opinion, and of course is set up for debate, is that a true Rock Opera, needs very little narriation, maybe at the beginning, but not throughout the whole song. The characters, or elements, or whatever the theme is, should be telling the story, or explaining things and guiding you through the events, or situations from their point of view. While it has a coherent "concept" (Albeit, a little mundane), it really failed to achieve what makes a good opera album vs just being a Punk Rock album. I think critics saw this album as a Rock (of Punk Rock) Opera, because it's not common at all, especially for a mainstream band such as Green Day to perform one. So they kind of... dumbed the idea down.
Mm hm... I see. Well, I trust IGN on matters of gaming and movies so I didn't doubt them with their music reviews. Plus, the album is one hell of a wild ride (so there was even less reason to doubt the review ). Oh w/e. I'll start listening to 16 new albums I've procured in the last 3 hours and hopefully, I'll be available by the time Balu` wakes up.
You might also need to know that I really just don't like Green Day lol. I loved Dookie and Nimrod, a lot. Before I was a hardcore Metalhead, and I was a pretty insane Punk-kid. I can name a hundred other punk bands, especially hardcore punk bands, that blow Green Day out of the water though. But like I said, I would jump "The Human Equation" higher up on the "To listen to" list of yours. I'm sure Balu` never gets tired of conversation and converting folks into Ayreonauts like myself.
Gimme that album too! I'm not sure... I didn't like Pagan's Mind's God's Equation for sure. Too boring and weird for me. I've only managed 4 albums since we last spoke... got caught up with virtual people in a virtual world...
My 10/0.5 bandwith doesn't like you at all. :X Yeah, that's their worst, I enjoyed it somewhat, though. Just out of curiousity, what albums were those?
-_-' Now even your bandwidth doesn't like me!? Oh no wonder. Guess that's a relief... (thought I'd have to throw out the others too) Pristina - The Drought (Ov Salt and Sorrow) - metalcore Woe of Tyrants - Behold the Lion - metalcore Pagan's Mind - God's Equation From the Shallows - Beyond the Unknown - deathcore The Damascus Intervention - Carefully Built|Carelessly Destroyed - metalcore ^ Went through this one between this and my last post.
I'm sure everyone else does... :X Yup, their second one is their best probably. That's pretty... coreful. :Đ
Great! I'm expecting some tasteful tunes from that album . YUP! I find good quality -core to be very fun. This song has become my latest obsession: -------------------------------------------- *Edit: I accidentally 5 albums
Yes, we know Balu`. ^.^ Shitty. Apparently my SD card slot doesn't work on my laptop. Going to have my IT guy take a look at it cause I'm stumped. If we can't get that to work though, I will just try and bring in my camcorder entirely and hook it up via USB. @GxS, Given your geographical location, and your ear for Metalcore, I can't imagine you lead a life without Parkway Drive, but if you haven't heard of them, it's about god damn time you do. Also, for a good laugh I thought I would share this cause it cracked me up when I saw it on FB.
And yet he posted that video directed at me. >.< Too bad. Hope the IT guy can figure something out - I have no idea. How true. :ĐĐ O by the way, nice, Explosion-like post-rock:
I have no idea why I didn't enjoy them the first time you posted their song here... You did enjoy some metalcore songs I posted a while ago so I thought this might sound interesting to you.
Haha, I did. The thing is, metalcore just.. disappoints me. I mean, this track had a pretty awesome riff too, then the screaming kicked in and.. bleh.
That's what I'm talking about. There's no metalcore without screaming, and that's why I always get disappointed after the promising instrumental beginnings of songs. Not.. bad, but generic. :q
=_=' -_-' Booch I highly recommend the band as my new favorite among metalcore. Killer screams, tasteful guitar tone and riffing, and most important of all, INSANELY CATCHY CHORUSES!!!
