Haha, I just couldn't stick to a small amount of music. I love discovering new bands, artists, even genres. :x More!? Maybe tomorrow, it'll shortly be sleepin' time for me, so it's time to turn on some quieter, relaxing stuff. I don't really know. I think it's either the vocals (which generally resemble hardcore punk more than rock/metal), the more simplistic song structure (probably another thing the genre got from punk) or it's just a general hate for anything not "true metal" by idiots. :x
Oh ok. I stick to melodical music so the melody becomes the main focus of music for me. No band plays the same melodies so my music can be said to be quite varied indeed I'm sorry if I... disturbed your sleeping patterns (worse, made it impossible for you to sleep ). Meh. Aggression is all good. Mathcore tends to solve the 'simple song structure' complaint though. Good night!
There's a lot of genres inside melodic metal even. You'd really enjoy some progressive metal I think. I'll show you some tomorrow.. Nothing that ~30 minutes of ambient can't cure. ;D True, that's why I actually do enjoy some of that (if I can get past the vocals). Thanks man!
For Summoning, my recommendation is Let Mortal Heroes Sing Our Fame. As for Bal-Sagoth, Battle Magic would probably be a good choice.
Thx for the recommendations Balu! Will enjoy them as I play DN. Unfortunately, I will have to spare you of your predetermined fate in enduring more of my metalcore onslaught. I'll be too busy playing the updated Dragon Nest with bonus exp to spend time on anything else .
Bal-sagoth Battle Magic song no.6: ~~~ The Dark Liege Of Chaos Is Unleashed At The Ensorcelled Shrine Of A'Zura Kai (The Splendour Of A Thousand Swords Gleaming Beneath The Blazon Of The Hyperborean Empire Part II) ~~~ ... ... ... ... ... ... ... WTF???????
Just what I'm thinking. Totally enjoying Bal-Sagoth's Naked Steel (chorus) and the Circus Maximum songs. The latter has a very unique charm to it For some reason, I can't bring myself to dislike the vocals even though I can't admit that I like them.
I feel pretty much the same about the vocals, maybe a little dislike there... I can't really give you new music right now - I've been mostly listening to quiet, calm, indstrumental stuff lately, and that's not your favorite. :Đ
Good'Day Y'all! Sorry I haven't posted much. Haven't even begun to read through the convo you guys had either... need to do that now. But just thought I would pop in to say hi ^.^ Anything new anyone discovered? I haven't really been looking for anything new... haven't had the time >.<
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCH! Where' you've been!???? New albums? HELL YEAH! But good indie melodeath or melodic metalcore albums are quite hard to find. Still, I'll compile a list of the stuff I'd recommend you right now for your convenience!
Ahoy! No worries, but we've missed you. :x No new discoveries here, post-rock, ambient and modern-classicalish stuff like Eluvium dominated my playlist the last few days..
At the Gates Slaughter of the Soul! (I know I'm a few decades late... I recently 'discovered' this album ) Blackrise - Oceanic WOW! A bleeding good melodeath album! Just listen to Physalia Physalis to see what I mean. Frozen Eternity - Dreams Turned to Ashes (EP) A bit metalcore-ish vocals and more on the 'harsh growl' side. Good melodies and symphonic arrangements though! F**k the Facts - Disgorge Mexico BRUTAL grindcore album!!! ... Am I the only one here that enjoys grindcore? Iced Realm - Hours to Years (EP) Similar description to Frozen Eternity. The melodies and tempo is more aggressive in this though. ***Mors Principium Est - The Unborn*** Most exciting find yet! Harsh and somewhat higher-than-average pitched growled male vocals (with female cleans!), dual vocals (with female cleans!), symphonic arrangements and good melodies! ^ Very highly recommended to all! And a recap of stuff I recommended previously: In Thy Dreams - Stream of Dispraised Souls Enthrope - Tomorrow's Dead Days Faithful Darkness - In Shadows Lies Utopia Obtenebris - Dust of Time (old skool melodeath!!!)
I shall checketh those suggestions out. Network security tightened up a bit at work, so I gotta watch myself, but I will try and get those albums as soon as possible. Yeah I've been listening to a lot of Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Thy Catafalque, Solerrain, and Nightrage. Also got really hammered and listened to Shadows of the Sun with my wife, and she really liked the album. She also really liked Thy Catafalque, which I found... odd. hahaahah
Get your own ISP already!? Wow, Nightrage? Which album(s)? I only have Insidious (which I love) so, any recommendations? Solerrain... glad you're enjoying it! Btw Balu, do you find it to be as enjoyable as we found it to be?
I would actually suggest all of Nightrage's albums, with caution though. If you liked "Insidious", download "Wearing a Martyr's Crown" right this moment. Same vocalist, and still the same awesome Melodeath that you would find in "Insidious". However, "Descent into Chaos" and "A New Disease is Born" are a different breed. Similar music styles as the aforementioned albums (which happen to be their latest two albums) but with more cleaner vocals than harsh vocals. The singer is Jimmie Strimell, who is the singer of Dead by April (a very... Emo Melodeath band, I like them, but bringing the vocal style to Nightrage was weird) so the vocals you may or may not care for. It's all good music though, in my personal opinion, but if you are expecting anything like "Insidious" or "WaM'sC" you will be severely disappointed. Take it for what it's worth. Then there is the first album, "Sweet Vengeance", which vocals were handled by Thomas Lindburg, the singer of At the Gates (How in the hell did you just barely discover the awesomeness that is AtG btw?!?!? ) so it has that standard Melodeath Vocal type, with music that resembles something of a modern day Eucharist (By the way, if you haven't heard of them either, check out Mirrorworlds this moment too. Great old school Melodeath). I suggest the album highly, but it brings nothing new to the table, so don't expect to be wowed, you'll just enjoy it. And on the Subject of At the Gates, you might want to check out a band called The Absence. The album is called "Riders of the Plague", which is a very gnarly and speed-riff heavy Melodeath album. All good stuff to look into. My only problem with Solerrain is the simple fact that the entire album sounds like something Children of Bodom should be doing NOW. Which, in turns, is why I enjoy it so much. Children of Bodom was amazing back in the day, but their latter 2 or 3 albums have been complete f*cking failures in my eyes. And now Solerrain takes the torch of carrying on that insane Melodeath style rife with Guitar Wankery and mad Keyboard skills.
Need...more...Nightrage! Let's just say that I didn't even bother checking out the earlier albums of the 'founders' of melodeath (yup, no In Flames, DT, AtG and someone else?) because the latest albums of IF and DT are kinda... boring for my tastes. So I passed on AtG... I need some more clarification on that Modern Day Eucharist band. Google returned some random results.
