I'll drop by from time to time sporadically over the weekend, but on my iPod, so might as well save them up for Monday. I'll be here for sure then. ^.^

ahahha I would have to agree with that yes. We both do ^.^
I have not heard anything recent from him since "Damn Right, Rebel Proud". I take it he has released quite a few since? That was like what.. 2007? 2008?

Well as long as it's good, I don't particularly care about the genre naming ^.^

    Alright.

No idea, I'm not that much into his music. Three albums this year, though. An awesome country one, a mediocre 'doom rock' and possibly his worst album ever. That one I couldn't stand for five minutes.

Yeah, with my genre descriptions you either don't care about it or get really annoyed. >.<

    DevilDriver anyone?

I'm hooked to the band instantly after hearing 'The Axe Shall Fall'.

    *Edit:

(FINALLY! I can embed videos now! :p)

Dammit, another new band to digest when I haven't been able to fully 'understand' Welicoruss' Wintermoon Symphony.

I've been a DevilDriver fan since day one. When I heard Dez Fafera from Coal Chamber was going to be in a Thrashy-Groovy-Melodeath band, I was all in for that. First CD fantastic too, but when they released The Fury of Our Makers Hand, I was blown out of the water. That album was... f*cking genius. Perfect blend of uniqueness, style, and in your face metal. I was in love. Still am in fact, that is one of my favourite albums of al time, top 10 easily. Then they release The Last Kind Words, and while it was great, it was no TFoOMH. Still, it had amazing songs. However, I can't say much for their latter two releases. Pray For Villains was the album where Dez started using that disgusting half sing/half scream voice and it just straight up was not working for him. Yet, they amassed more people to like them with it, so all power to them. I know several die-hard DD fans who, while appreciating their want to evolve and grow as a band, think that their new shit flat out robs themselves of what made them great. Their new album "Beast" was boring, and crap. Seen em live 4 times, and not once did I ever think they would ever transcend to that type of boring metal sound. Just all opinion though. =/

Anyways... been really depressed as of late. Wife and I are splitting up, I think for good this time, here soon. I am moving out this weekend. Super f*cking bummed I don't even want to do anything with myself anymore. Been listening to a lot of this though:

Balu`, what do you think of this stuff anyways?

I suppose by "stuff" you mean the music? If yes, it's.. alright. A bit mainstreamish for my taste, but good nonetheless.

Anyway, that situation must suck, sure it won't get better?

Maybe this'll cheer you up, new Devin song, demo:

Also, I finally realized what I like about Mechanical Poet, that's there in all of their albums - the unusual vocal melodies. I mean, compare Natural Quaternion to Digital Skin, and the insanely weird, yet awesome vocal lines are what make them stand out out the crowd. Do you know anything like that?

Sorry to hear that things aren't working out for ya...

About DD, I got the albums The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand, The Last Kind of Words and Pray for Villains but I only liked ~4 songs out of each. Looks like this groove metal genre isn't exactly the best for me...

I've recently taken a liking for Welicoruss. Got all their albums on iTunes.

    Songs from their newest LP:

That's because groove metal is a crappy genre in general. The closest thing to I that I enjoy is Gojira. :x

That Dev song won't play for me :(

Also, I am not sure about the MP similarities, really for anything they have going on in their music lol. But I will check it out. cKy is interesting to me because they site the band "Death" as one of their biggest influences 0.o lol

Also, the Groove Metal genre is garbage. I think we have agreement there. However, there's enough slight Melodeath in DevilDriver to make me want to headbang and beat up a baby to while listening. LOL

Surprisingly in a good mood, with all things considering. The wife and I's last night together was last night. I will be moving out and staying with a friend from now on starting tonight :( we're going out separate ways, seeing other people, etc. Pretty... f*cking weird shit going on.

Ow, too bad. It's really awesome - kind of like Ghost meets Accelerated Evolution. Plus this demo sounds better than most bands' finished songs. >.<

That's.. weird. Not as much so as a hip-hop artist listing Ayreon as an influence (that did happen), but still :>

As you know, I don't like melodeath either, so there's really nothing there for me to enjoy.

That really sucks. :\\ How often will you get to see your son now?

That sounds sweet... I can't wait to eventually hear it.

Yeah I know, he got features on the last Ayreon album right? F*ckin weird lol.

    Yeah... I know... =/

Still pretty often. Get to keep him every other weekend and get to see him as much as I want during the weeks. So yeah. No restraint there.

I was the one who messed up. >.< Here it is:

Yeah, he's the one. His voice did sound good on the album, though. :x

Nah, not liking bad stuff is a good thing!

Well, at least that's good news.

I want a dancing cow on stage with me all the time -.-

On a more serious note that song was really good. I liked it a lot.

Yeah... it is good news. The problem is, is the roller coaster ride of a mess that is this split up. one minute she wants me out, the next minute she wants me to stay and wait for X things to happen, then she wants me gone, sooner the better, then she wants me to stay. It's really messing me up >.<

Haha. And yeah, the song is great. I love its atmosphere.

Never had anything like it, so I can't fully empathize, but this does sound awful. :x

    Awesome prog song here:

That was a really good song, made me think of like... Castlevania music at the beginning hahahaha. Love those games... love that music. Good stuff man. Wish I had something for you. Haven't had time at all to look for music between work, no internet, and being in and out of the hospital. >.<

    Hospital? How come? :|

I've been listening to quite a lot of Kauan lately. These are the guys who started out with an Agalloch-like sound, but became more post-rockish. Anyway, Aava Tuulen Maa is an absolutely brilliant folkish post-rock album. You'd probably like it. :X

And I've bbeen looking at some music released this year. The hip-hop guy from 01011001, Wudstik, is the lead vocalist on a progmetal record. Will be interesting to hear.

    Diverticulitis.

Sounds interesting. I've been reading a ton of reviews from this one particular guy on Metal Archives. I agree with pretty much NOTHING he has to say, however some of his shit is pretty freaking hilarious. This review of Nightfall is epic at the end. If you have time to read it, do so. He makes some points, but over all I disagree with him. I loved that album, and you will hate that he doesn't like Tolkien (You like his literature right?). But yeah the comment at the end where he said

"But, if you're like me, and aren't so thickheaded as to not realize that NO album ever needs a thirty second track dedicated to a ####ing elephant roar, then you will understand that this album is sadly broken." literally brought forth some pretty good laughs. I had a hard time containing it at work for some reason. hahahaaha.

Anyways. That Wudstik guy sounds interesting. Maybe he is like me, and has interests in doing all kinds of music, but finds that Hip-Hop is easiest to make with little effort, and are easier to find more people to collab with. I actually got asked to be the beatmaker for a group starting a rap-group this weekend. They want me to chop and everything too. I would... I honestly would... but all three of them literally just got out of jail. lol

That doesn't sound good.. could be worse, though. Get better soon! :>

Hah, that review was... interesting. >.< (only read LotR, liked that)

Want a link to that progmetal album I found with him?
And yeah, but making music in a certain genre just cause it's easier that another sounds weird to me.
I.. probably wouldn't have agreed to that either. How do you know people like that?:Đ

Why thank you! I am feeling better, but it is something that never truly goes away unfortunately. Something I'll have to deal with the rest of my life >.<

All of his reviews are retarded hahahah, I just read them for a good laugh, with all his ridiculous metaphors lol.

Yeah I would really like to hear it! I haven't even heard his Hip-Hop material yet, but I guess I should give it a little listen to sometime today!

Being a musician, you tend to get a little bored wring the same stuff all the time. Doing something different (be it super simple or really complex) it's all just fun to do really. But I dunno lol...

And I know one of the guys who offered the beatmaking opportunity as a mutual friend between my wife and I. The other 2 guys were friends of his lol. Either way, not going to do it me thinks. Would be fun but not worth the trouble lol

I know you have heard of these guys, I am pretty sure i remember us talking about them at one point or another in this thread, but I am hooked on this album again. If you aren't too familiar with the songs, or don't have any recoollection of them, I implore you to listen to them NAOOO. Especially the last one.

I still don't know what to label these guys as though, they're like Melodic Smpohic Black Doom Power Death Metal with Choir.

Hah, that doesn't sound too good.

Meh, I love ridiculous metaphors. >.<

    Here's a song from them:

Ah.. I don't get that, but hey, that doesn't matter here. :#

In what way does that sound like fun? >.<

They aren't bad.. the second song was actually good. I somewhat like their music in general, but I would like it a lot more without harsh vocals. :x (also, I hear like no doom in their music at all).
