I don't think it's necessarily gimmicky at all. I am barely getting into his music, but it's not bad at all. Definitely some interesting material and ideas. Though I will say of all of Arjen's stuff, Ayreon is the least of my favourite. Guilt Machine is by far his best work. Still all good stuff though.

What I meant was they seem to be forcing the whole folk thing to me. it feels forced and dishonest IMO. it's not a personal attack on you or even the band it's not my thing. I think what you said about buckethead was bullshit too but its not for you that's why bolth bands are not main stream they are for particular people and that's why metal is so great it's made for the fans buy the fans.
