I would have had to block all my friends >.<

    Nothing short of it. lol

I've tried with the power metal. It helps, but nothing really changes.

I actually had to put up with a Beiber song a couple weeks ago. One of my wife's friends we over at our old house and she had her kids with her, and she has a 5 year daughter that wanted to listen to the same song over and over and over again, on top of that she had Justin Beiber "Barbie Sized" doll, that when you pressed this magical ab on his tummy, he sang like 5 seconds of that same song she wanted to listen to the whole time. *gag*

Ke$ha is cool though. She has some decent music. plus she can play the guitar, keys, and drums so that's always a plus in my books.

The problem was probably the lack of cheesiness. Go for Rhapsody of Fire! :>

Umm, that must've sucked. What's even worse is that even 5 years old listen to this crap.

Meh, no one in pop right now has decent music. Or what's more correct, I can't name anyone who does. She's no exception, and the dollar sign in her "name" doesn't help her case either. ^^

    haha, yeah. I'll try later.

    No kidding >.<

The crazy thing is, I really hate her music. When I first heard her, I hated her music. Now, nothing has changed. I still hate her music, yet I still listen to it. Makes no sense.

Sorry for the lack of sympathy, but meh, in my school, there's music playing in like every second break. The problem is, the one who selects the songs really seems to like dubstep. : D

That's just weird. I'm used to hearing weird stuff about you.

O by the way, do you know Boards of Canada? They're pretty awesome, and also ond of the few electronic acts I like.

That's terrible. But I think it wouldn't matter to me a whole lot, I would have headphones in a lot. lol

I tend to be a weird person =S

No I do not, worth checking out? Must be if they are electronic and you actually like them. hahaaha

I do to, but sometimes I want to, y'know, have a conversation. ^^

That's kind of a compliment from me. :>

    Yeah, they're really good. Plus, they're Devin-recommended.

Meh conversations are for losers. =P

I took it as such! hahaha

    Sweeeeet. I'll check them out!

After a cigarette and now eating a Strawberry Pop-Tart, I feel a lot better. Actually in a good mood. lol

    I hope you'll like them..

If have absolutely noo clue what a Pop-Tart is. Good for you, though!

Another recommendation: The Flashbulb - Soundtrack to a Vacant Life. Very intresting combination of acoustic/electric with a great mood to it, and I think I've even heard some rock-ish riffing.

Pop-Tarts are truly magical creations of convenience.

Sounds interesting. Here's something to ask of you, you happen to know any Techno/Electronica Folk music? hahaahahahahaaha

That's definitely interesting, but not really something I'd love to try. :X

Ouch, no, I don't. I really don't. That sure sounds interesting. :DD

I know you haven't listened to much new music lately, still, I must ask: any recommendations for me?:X

Sleepin' time for me. See you tomorrow? I hope.

They are... just fantastic. if you ever get a chance to try one, try one.

hahaah right? I had a friend the other night hitting me up for recommendations, and I was able to satisfy all her genre seeking, except that. And I wondered if you would know of any. haahahaha would be very interesting.

I can't think of any off the top of my head really... did you ever hear the new Fleshgod Apocalypse? I know tech death isn't your thing, but tech death with actually really good symphonic elements is.... very interesting.

I know it's bedtime, but try it anyways cause I really want to hear your thoughts on the song. I think the additions of those eerie clean vocals are cool too. They totally amped up their game this this album. Been listening to it righteously.

I won't be on tomorrow, but should be on Monday. I won't have any internet the whole weekend so yeah. But my boss will be on vacation for another week after this one so I should be on.

Eh... sorry to butt in here... but I'm a metal head (mainly melodic) and, yeah... I want to join the conversation that's all :D

    ORLY?!?

Hahahah cool man, melodic like... Melodeath? If so you're in good company with me. Melodeath is my favourite genre. What's some of your favourite bands? And me and Balu` are great for the suggestions of any kind of metal.

This will be long... word of warning: I read reviews first then get the albums and judge them according to my own tastes.

    Alphabetical list (melodeath only):
    Amon Amarth
    Amoral
Arghoslent [no I'm not here for the lyrics!]
    ARSIS [esp Diamond for Disease!!!]
Callenish Circle [a seriously under-rated band. Textbook approach though]
Children of Bodom [Follow the Reaper + half of Hatebreeder only]
Dark Tranquility - Character [the rest are pretty flimsy to me]
Edge of Insanity - Crimson II [EPIC!]
The Few Against Many - SOT [starts to sound the same after a while though...]
Fleshgod Apocalypse - Agony [love the high screams]
God Dethroned [absolutely brutal war themed songs. Also under-rated]
Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity [love the highs. Should I get their other albums?]
Insomnium [One of my favs. They just keep doing better at what they do.]
Scar Symmetry - first 3 albums [sounds somewhat metalcore though]
    Skyfire - [KEYBOARDS! Under-rated...]

And yes, I consider each and every one of them my favorite :D because they sound distinctive and differently enough to qualify as individual entities.

I also like metalcore and mathcore, especially bands like Protest the Hero and Converge.

    Welcome here! :>
You're more likely to get recommendations for stuff like this from Booch, since I'm not really a melodeath fan (and don't even get me started on -core stuff >.<), but if you're open to other things, you can expect a shitload of band recommandations from me too. ^^
I hope you'll be able to keep up with our insane posting speed here. :)

But BUT BUT some -core bands are awesome! (exclude A7X plz). Killswitch Engaged and Unearth are some of da best in the genre :D
Oh and mathcore is my favorite genre despite only having 5 of such albums in possession. Protest the Hero is quite simply imo the best band, technically, melodically and lyrically :D:D:D

Oh bring it on! I'm on instant subscription to this thread!

Meh, I might have to give them another try, then. From what I remember, they were decent, outstanding compared to most -core bands I know. Still, the vocal style is what keeps me from fully enjoying the genre. :X

    That's good to hear. :>

Anyway, llet's get started with sharing. I suppose you know Devin Townsend's works? If not, that's something you simply have to look up.

Killswitch Engage's vocalist has the best voice out of all the bands in the genre. Period.
I sometimes (depending on the mood) prefer metalcore screams over death metal growls.

What genre? From what I searched and heard briefly, they're progressive?

We'll see about that tomorrow. ^^

I'm not really a fan of growls either (I prefer clean vocals all the way), but I'd take them over screams any day.

Umm, progressive roughly describes his style, but it isn't nearly accurate. His former band, Strapping Young Lad was extreme/tech/something metal, his solo albums range from ambient to orchestral progressive black metal. For starters, I'd suggest taking a look at either Accelerated Evolution (simpler prog metal, some sscreams here and there) or Deconstruction (the over-the-top black metalish madness I mentioned). Also, give his music some time to sink in, it's some of the hardest to digest music (if that even makes any sense...weiting in a foreign language isn't the easiest a few minutes before sleep). :D

Before I forget ($@?! name of the best Slipknot song... try it :D), have a full listen to The Devil wears Prada's (band) EP Zombie. It's one hell of an epic 30 minute of metalcore - brutal and heavy riffs, innovative breakdowns and pretty good vocals throughout (though there's more screams then cleans).

I see what you mean... I'm not exactly into prog metal... too slow for my tastes. The melodies and rhythm is definitely there but the slowness of tempo and pace agonizes me. I prefer solo-esque melodies littered throughout the songs.
