Great lists guys. Love me some good metal music. Except Symphony X. I just........ just can't listen to them. lol
I've never heard Symphony X before, so I can't really say there, but the rest is sick. Btw, you sounded pretty mad on facebook. Need some angry music, or you got that covered?
I can't suggest them, but they are worth listening to to. They are talented as shit, I just can't get into their music, especially the vocals. Yes. Plenty of it. If you want to know more, message me on facebook (I often forget I have you on there LOL). Let's just say its... work related. Listening to Nightrage's latest album right now, but I do need something angrier. Probably going to throw on some Fleshgod Apocalypse now.
Yeah, I figured it'd be work related knowing how things have been going lately. I'll see what I have for angry as hell stuff you might not have and post it here in a few. And yeah, any time hit me up on Facebook. It's always logged in, but I might not answer a lot of the time. Usually if I'm at school, gaming, or something like that I probably won't notice, but if I see it I'll definitely reply. Well... let's see what I've got... Although I doubt I'll be able to top Fleshgod Apocalypse. Btw, what's your opinion on grindcore? My friend and I were discussing it and I was wondering what you thought.
My main problem it is that pretty much every single riff ever incorporated into a metalcore song was on At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul. I'll refrain from explaining in detail why I can't stand Between the Buried and Me. And I should hope so. Opeth is amazing. EDIT: WHOA NOW. Symphony X has easily one of the best singers of any band I have ever encountered. Russ is easily in my top five for tone, diversity, range, and just overall INCREDIBLE skill. Next you're going to say you don't like Dio.
Cool dude will do. And yeah let me know if you got anything. Fleshgod is pretty brutal though, and is doing the trick. heh. Grindcore is okay. Not my favourite but there are some bands I can listen to. I have a friend who is in a grindcore band and they are fun. hahahaaha but... but... At the Gates is Melodeath... hahahaha. I get what you are saying. Unfortunately most metalcore sounds like early As I lay Dying. Not to say I don't like it. I just think it all sounds the same. Between the Buried and Me is pretty cool though. Not my favourite. They just remind me of what Pink Floyd would sound like if they were a metal band. LOL Opeth though, Opeth is amazing. As for Symphony X, Allen has a great voice and range, I won't argue with that. He just doesn't appeal (at all) to me. Like I said, that whole band is full of talent and skill, but I just cannot for the life of me get myself to enjoy their music. Dio on the other hand is amazing.
Well I found some stuff that might work: Not sure how you'd feel about some of that, and I know I've posted some of those songs before, but that's pretty much my best angry stuff right there. As for grindcore... My friend and I absolutely hate it lol. To us, it sounds like the same exact guitar riffs and drum patterns over and over with some awful, messy, and disorganized vocals on top of it all. The only band we really like that could be considered grindcore is Psyopus, and even then, that's not straight-up grindcore.
Heard of most of that stuff, but I will listen to it all anyways just for enjoyment. Only band I don't care for really is Oh, Sleeper. Not my style. Haven't heard non-point in forever though ahahah good stuff. Thanks for posting that stuff man. Hard cheering up right now though. Oh and grindcore stuff all does sound the same. I love my friends band but its pretty much because he is my friend. It's terrible music. Not my choice but some of it is fun hahaaha
Actually, I'm pretty sure Riverside is what Pink Floyd would sound like if they were a metal band. And it's AMAZING. My biggest problem with BtBaM (aside from the essential problem I have with all metalcore) is that they don't know how to assemble a song. They can write (some) riffs, but their songs are pretty much just arbitrarily cobbled together with little to no structure, flow or transitions to speak of. And break-downs. I don't consider that progressive at all. Grindcore is garbage.
Yeah but it's that style that makes me like BtBaM. It does sound like jumbled shit no doubt, but I like it. I listen to millions of other bands that follow generic (and even some great) forumlas. Don't know too many bands that follow suit with BtBaM. But anyways, not that it really matters. I only liked one album from them. They aren't my favourite, but I do like "Colors".
Yeah, nothing like finding old music that fits the mood. I can try to find more uplifting stuff if you want, although I'm not too sure how much you'd like some of my picks. And yeah... I think almost everyone agrees that grindcore is awful. I checked out a video (by accident really... I thought it'd be something better), and even the top rated comments were mocking the song. It's just terrible.
That's also what I thought about BtBaM when I first heard them too. It's a mess of great music, perfectly combined to make one song sound like several. It just... Works, somehow. I can't explain it, but it really blew my mind the first few times I heard it.
Uplifting stuff is always welcome too. May not like it, but its welcome. Yeah grindcore bands are only liked because people feel bad for them. lol
Well here's one song that got me through some tough times... I posted it before, but I feel like I need to bring it back: Not too sure about some of those for you, but I gotta say, I particularly like the Rise Against one. Not only is the song great for picking me up on a horrible day or making a good one even better, but the lyrics are just perfect for a bad day.
Weekend went by to fast, doomsday today. Trying to listen to things to take my mind off of things. Anything new?
That did sound interesting. I liked it though. I think I have come across them before though... the name sounds rediculously familiar but I can pinpoint from where. Anyways, good stuff man thank you! Sadly I have nothing for you. My weekend was filled with tons of chores and stuff. Crazy events >.<
Glad you liked it, the best thing about it for me was the atmosphere. Not a usual genre combination. :> What happened? :Đ
Yeah it did have a nice atmosphere. Everything was well done, and I really enjoyed it. Very unique to me. Son was sick, had a ton of chores to do, got Mortak Kombat 9, all my game and video systems are malfunctioning (I think someone threw a CHAFF Grenade in my room) and just a mixture of... crazy things. I dunno can't explain it on Touch Arcade. lol Anyhow, didn't have time to do anything, I only got to play the new Mortal Kombat once and my wife destroyed me nearly every game hahahah
