Yeah if you can get some nearby, definitely pick up a pack. Well it's not that Open C is bad for starters... but I definitely would learn things in Standard tuning first (E-A-D-G-B-e) and go from there... I mean it really depends on what style you do want to pick up first though, and if Open C i s where you want to go (especially with Devin songs) then go for it bro.
Bah, haven't seen any of these in the Hungarian webshops I know. 'least not for a price this good. Does this site ship to Hungary too? Alright, sounds good.. A plan is starting to take shape.. >.<
I took the liberty of looking at music warehouse sites that may ship to Hungary, and it appears that they do over at guitarcenter.com... might wanna look into that, shipping may be outrageous though, especially if you plan on just getting a single pack of strings lol.
Picks... Definitely Picks... Maybe a guitar tuner (preferably this, it never fails me). A strap maybe if you don't have one, though not totally necessary. You wouldn't happen to know what thickness of pick you use would you? hahahaah I use these and the 1.0mm ones (the blue ones). Perfect thickness without being overly thick, but sustains itself through more rough playing. Can't stand using thinner picks, especially the red or orange ones (.50/.60mm ones). Too "floppy" if you will.
Picks are very important when it comes to comfortability. Other than that, the thickness could also help with duribility. As a starting guitarist though, the thought of pick sizes and the importance of it may seem futile, but you will learn down the road how much of a difference they really make. For now I would go with a medium sized one. You can decide from there whether you would feel like it should be thicker, or thinner. Tuner is very important, to an extent. There are several videos on youtube alone that will play the note of the string, and you tune the guitar by ear. If you would feel more comfortable with that, then by all means don't buy a tuner, but as a starting guitarist I would HIGHLY recommend one. You don't have to use that brand in particular, but which ever you choose, make sure it has a mic built in (most of them do), as I can assume that your Acoustic Guitar is not an Acoustic/Electric. lol
Meh, I trust you here. Only thing that stands against this is from Arjen's site. ("Oh, and a Dutch 5 cent coin instead of a pick!") : DD Yeah, it's an acoustic. If it wasn't, I wouldn't say that. >.< Aaanyway, how much total would I have to spend on picks/tuner/strings as a start?
hahahaha I have had to use US Coin to use as a pick at a show I played at once. Absolutely no one had a pick and I usually keep at least 3 in my wallet and I didn't know what happened to them lol. I almost always have a pick with me. No matter what. Yeah I know, but there are Acoustic/Electrics (I have one myself) which are much easier for tuning, but yeah thats another subject. You really shouldn't be spending more than $30 really. Pack of a dozen picks = $5~, 1 Set of Strings = $5~, and a decent tuner is around $15-$20~. That USD though.
: DDDD Mm, not too much. Just gotta find a place where I can buy all that and I'm lazy to do that. >.< Any songs you'd suggest for startin'? Terminal by Dev seems like one I could learn somewhat easily...
Come to think of it... I can't think of any easy songs to learn on the acoustic But I will post some of the earlier songs I fondly remember learning how to play. And say what you want about them, they helped me learn. lol To name a few... I know. Mainstreamy stuff. Take into considering please that at that age I didn't know as much about music as I do now. LOL
Mm well... thanks. >.< I guess you see why I can't really see the age as a good excuse. : DDD Too bad you don't know many good acoustic ones, I really need motivation. I mean, I have my ultimate goal, but that's years away. Or even longer. :>
Well put it this way, when I was your age the Internet wasn't a very prominant source of music for me and my group of friends. We all had 56K back then, and downloading music off of Kazaa or Limewire was... downright dangerous and slow. LOL. We didn't have youtube, we didn't have mediafire, or any kind of wikipedia that was a good enough source. All we had was our local music shop and allowance money (and money I made from TCG games) lol. So maybe not the age I was, but the age I was in. *laughs hysterically, then cries because of age* So what exactly is your ultimate goal if I may ask?
Hahah, I know. I just like telling you that you're old. >.< Well, as far as acoustic guitar goes, I want to be able to play the second half of Ki (arpeggios I think?). : D
I know you do, you little f*cker. That song sounds actually pretty simple, even the arpeggios, they aren't all that fast, trust me, there are harder scales to climb. You can actually reach that goal pretty simply if you study up on arpeggio scales!
I know myself, and studying isn't my hard part. Seriously. I'm only great at school because I just.. know everything instantly as I hear it. Good stuff, but doesn't help me at all with the music. ^^ Also, faster stuff is mostly on electric.
Yeah most faster stuff is on electric. I had a friend who actually played nothing but acoustic, but played fast arpeggios and fast scales like that. It was insane. I've even heard them on the bass guitar, which sounds completely moronic unless your are Stratovarius.
Hahah. That guy sounds insane. >.< Also, power metal is something I definitely couldn't play. Ever. Way too fast for someone without musical talent.
Actually once, you start learning how to alternate pick faster and faster, Power Metal and Punk Rock are the 2 most insanely easy types of music to pick up (at least in the Rhythm department). Power Chords after Power Chords. Some Power Metal is harder, but for the most part it's rediculously easy. Like I said, just gotta learn how to alt. pick fast.
