Regarding the random POW rescue, here are some things I did which seem to consistently get me a POW when I first try it at a stage: - Using as few troops as possible to clear the stage a.k.a not putting out more troops when you are already stacked up with troops outside enemy base - Not using any Metal Slug attack to clear the stage
I strongly suspect that there's no way to increase POW rescue rates. I say this because I'll occasionally get two POWs to release at once, but it only happens when there are a bunch of them left, and it occurs more frequently as the number of POWs per stage increases (which it does very sharply in World 2) This leads me to theorize that the game calculates release rate independently for each POW per level completion, meaning that regardless of what you do, it's likely that you'll get one within the first couple of runs through a level.
I'm not a paid user. I seldom play PVP because the disconnection problem. Free medals seem rare. Can anyone suggest how to spent the medals for buying units in most efficient way?
I think the most efficient to spend the medals will be for the people who played a lot here to suggest the top 10 most useful/must-have troops and we just buy those. If you want to own all the troops, then the most efficient way is to buy the bundles/packs (save on medals), in order from the "top 10 most useful/must-have troops list". In the meantime, there are also new troops to unlock via emergency stages' POW rescue, stage clears and daily logins. I have not spend a single medal and if I'm ever stuck at a stage, I'll just go back to grinding past stages to get POW and MSP for upgrades. I plan to finish everything in the game and unlock everything in the shop first before spending any medals.
Has anyone else had this issue where your health won't refill? My "ammo" has been stuck on 4 all day. I'm connected to wifi, everything is normal, but I can't play anymore. WTF.
Metal Slug Defense (by SNK Playmore) I heard this problem occurs if you time-travel. Did you time-travel for the Ostrich and Elephant? The game keeps track of your last date played, and won't continue filling your Sortie points in that case until the dates match. As for units, I'm a big fan of Fattish Zombie. He's a slow moving high-HP unit that attacks at a good range. Most of the other good units you'll actually get just by playing, especially the boss levels. These are the good common multiplayer units you get naturally: Tarma SV Camel Ostrich Slug SV-001 Allen O'Niel Donald Morden Zombie Marco Elephant Slug The ones you have to pay for: Shoe/Karn Ohumein-Conga Jupiter King SV001 Experimental / Type-R Iron Nokana Sasquatch Drill Slug Slug Gunner Those other... big alien ones As you can see, it's mostly the expensive heavies you have to shell out for, and they're really only useful in PVP. For single-player, I can only really recommend picking up Fattish Zombie / Shield Soldier (one or the other for early tanking) and maybe a few of the early-range tank units (Di-Cokka, NOP-03 Sarubia, Drill Slug), to fill out a few of the gaps in the story units. Otherwise, pick up whatever you like (my favorite is Hyakutaro, even though he's really terrible in PVP), and maybe one BIG guy (like Ohumein). But I have access to nearly all the units now, so if you guys like, I can take one for a spin and give you a review.
Hi Emuchu. Thank you for the elaborate unit suggestions I would like to know your say between Mars Mecha & Monoeye which should I pick. I plan to use them for PvP. Thanks!
Metal Slug Defense (by SNK Playmore) You're welcome, Roxas! As for Mars Mecha vs. Monoeye: Mars Mecha Lv.20 500 AP 10,000 HP Normal Move Speed Very Slow Production Monoeye Lv.20 400 AP 3,000 HP Slow Move Speed Very Slow Production So the obvious difference is in HP, where the Mecha has oodles more. I put them through their paces on World 2 | Final Area| Stage 4, where I used an AP Max item and launched a single unit to take on the hoard... The Monoeye appears to have a stronger attack power, firing its projectiles quickly in a direct, diagonal line, in groupings of 4 (2 shots kill a Mars People). The Mecha, conversely, fires single bouncy bombs that take a *long* time to travel to their target, and will often miss if the rest of your army is quick about killing things (1 bomb kills a Mars People). They both got wrecked when Allen showed up, though, so I need to come up with a better damage test... The Mecha also stands a bit farther ahead than the Monoeye and tends to sponge hits, which seems to be his purpose. It looks like Monoeye vs. Mars Mecha is a choice between attack unit or tank, but as far as PVP is concerned, bulky high-HP units seem to be the norm.
Shoe/Karn Ohumein-Conga Iron Nokana I just wonder whether these units are worth 150+ medals. If I have 400+ AP, I will summon Allen O'Niel. Then, supporting him with some fast and low cost units instead of these expensive units. No matter which mode you are playing, I recommend Drill Slug. It has decent HP, attack power and reasonable cost.
@Emuchu Seems like I'm going to hold out for those two. I'm particularly looking for high-hp boss units with long range attack. I haven't spent any money for the medals (I have 364) so I have to be extra selective picking new units
Can anyone tell me whats with those missions that are red on the world map that sometimes appear Do you get a reward or something form competing them?
Those red Emergency Areas last for an hour and the first one appear at noon for me. You have to rescue all the POW from it to unlock a new free unit. Once that is done, it will remain on your map permanently. The second Emergency Area appeared for me at 6pm after I completed the first one. If you check the POW list at the world map, Area 13 onwards are the Emergency ones and they all give a new unit if you can rescue all the POW. The third Emergency Area appeared at 10pm for me after I rescued all the POW of the second one.
Many people say "Jupiter King is overpowered". However, it is not the case. Drawbacks: - It costs 900AP. - Its cooldown is long - No special attack The unit is great, but i wonder can it kill 900AP+ units. When a unit take damage to certain level, it will be push back (except few units like Biker). That level is fixed and will not change even your unit is Lv20. With the full attack power upgrade (releasing all POWs in World 1 Word 2 Level 8), it is not that difficult to stop a Jupiter King by using long/normal range special attack unitS(Zombie Macro, Di-Cokka) + METAL SLUG Attack
Regarding the POW collections - one thing I noticed might be the AP Gain lady and how many times you speed her up. I was having a hell of a time collecting guys in Central Asia Stage 3 & 4 so I tried using less of the AP Gain and it worked for both stages first try! (obviously a small sample size but will keep testing)
So i got shoe and karn... What's the difference? One says it has less range, but what benefits does it have to make up for it?
Metal Slug Defense (by SNK Playmore) It's tough to say. My gut says there's an attack difference, but I dunno how I'd test it.
