Just updated the game. They've added several new units but none that are anti aerial. 10000000TARO will be offered to every user for free.
the new free Taro unit seems rather useless in my opinion. Low AP, low HP, very short attack range and short special. Seems to me that it won't last very long against anything. I've seen the new Taro unit in action. If it does get to use it's melee attack, it's fast and will usually strike first. At level 20, it's HP is 2000 and the AP cost is 100. The new units are worth a look. No new heavy units though. I've incorporated the Girida-O Ver PM into my deck. Level 20, it's HP is 5600 and AP is 210. I also inserted the DI-Cokka Ver. PM, at level 20, it's HP is 6000 and AP is 300. I tried using the Flying Tara Ver.PM, it looks like a long range bomber. I used it against some natives and it didn't kill them, so I said FORGET THAT! that's my experience so far!
Good thing to know. I was about to purchase the Flying Tara Ver.PM, but now I don't have to waste any medals. Have you tried the 10000000 Taro yet? It looks like he's just a better version of the prisoner.
I saw the 1000000 Taro being used by others. I bought it and upgraded it, but when I saw it's HP along with it's attacks, I never tried using it. When it has been used against me, my ranged units kill it before it has a chance to do much.
I'm pretty underwhelmed by 1.6. A lot of new units, but none that I see changing the metagame. None of the units have a mind blowing AP to HP ratio. They also seem a tad too expensive for the current aircraft dominated game. Nowadays you want cheaper, spammier units (so you aren't stuck in cooldown hell after an airstrike), heavies, or high damage air. I feel that the tank class is obsolete. The new suicide bike might be good as a surefire msa stopper. I think the new Tara could have potential.
I'm trying out the new tanks. I wouldn't say they're obsolete! I like that the new Girida has 5600hp for 210ap and that's attack is a spread attack, likewise with the new di-cokka, i now have another 300ap unit to go with to go with the Slug Gunner. I figure I'll share my deck that I'm trying as of the update:
My favorite new unit is the Patrol Robot. I like the fact that it stays behind all your other units and the laser it shoots is strong and has great range.
Hi guys, I shouldn't be here since I'm an android user but so far this is the only active place to talk about this game. I have to say I'm extremely dissapointed with this new update for Android, the 2v2 mode is laggy as hell, I get delay on everything, my units spawn 3-5 seconds later after I create it and it's a living hell to try to activate their special attacks.
Welcome new member! its all good bro, its a mix of both android and iOS users are in this thread.. it has some truth about the lagging issue on 2v2(1.6)..but i think its quite better now than (1.5).. on 1.5-early to mid game is very responsive skill wise but if units clustered on mid to late game it becomes chaotic on 1.6-its a bit constant through out the entire game.. it sacrificed some smoothness overall but on the entire game even if its lag abit you can still use specials.. both have some pros and cons though.. btw what connection do you use? sometimes a good connection is needed nowadays..specially if many players are playing

Units I don't have & thinking of buying : R-Shobu, Hover Unit & Vehicle // it seems to be an aircraft dominated game right now. which unit should I choose? Special Force (Rider) //an upgraded hopper mecha? Iron Nokana MK 2 & Iron Nokana // very slow production time Patrol Robot // knock back laser, low HP
I'm pretty certain it is a bug. I have around 250 games played (90 in 1vs1 and the rest in 2vs2). It happened with me 3 times. I fired the laser with Fat Eri and the beam stayed there. In one time the adversary was able to remove it using an MSA (reaching the beginning of the laser and eliminating it). There's many other bugs, like MSA spamming. An adversary releasing his MSA exploding against mine just to release another one seconds later. It's annoying but I don't think it's an exploit. Many times I see partner or adversary releasing units twice (sandbag is a common example). Yesterday I was winning in a 2vs2 match and the adversary base simply disappeared. I had to wait for the time to finish to get the win. I was angry in the beginning thinking it was hackers getting a hedge but in 2vs2 it doesn't make much difference (apart from the fat eri laser bug). I'm in iOS (still in 1.5). Getting medals is so slow in wifi vs and the worst thing you can do is buy a crap unit. I'm winning against players with almost 4000 wins with a very simple (and cheap) deck. A few tips: - Elephant Slug is the best to counter Jking. Just throw the fireball before he releases his laser. I use it mostly for that purpose since his attack is a little weak. Very useful when you don't have 300 medals to spend on Jking. - Many people use Hopper Mecha or Gunner Unit to avoid an MSA attack. I use the Sasquash. It moves fast and stays in front of the other units. I release him in time for the adversary's MSA to defend my units. Not very useful in mid-game but makes a lot of difference in the beginning, specially in short maps. It cost only 80ap. Abdul Abbas is better (more HP and his attack is faster), unfortunately it cost 140ap (but it's free to unlock it). Gunner Unit would be the best if it moved fast instead of normal. - Sandbag: Not useful in 1vs1 but in 2vs2 you can spam every time as possible to defend your position as you advance. - In 2vs2 I prefer to use units that attack multiple units with his attack (Iron Iso, Clark, RLM…). Units like Iron Nokana I and II are crap IMO. They cost too much and their attacks don't have a good reach. - Clark attacks multiple units, has a long reach and his special attack aerial units. For some reason I'm not using it as often. I think it cost too much (150 medals) and 150ap. For that AP I can spawn 2 units. - R-Shobu is the best aerial unit. Has many missiles and attack twice (I think) and goes to the front releasing many bombs. Hover vehicle seems nice but can be taken down easily (Clark for example). Hover Unit only shoot 3 missiles. - Giant Caterpillar; Mentioned many times. Quite useful. Another tip for releasing POWs. Using the Samurai Planes and Slug Copter reveals them often. I repeat a stage in fast speed (top-right button during game). I just wish you were able to release at least ONE POW for each game. To release Donald Morden or Mars People you have to play like 25 times IF (!!!) you release one every game. Imagine how many times you have to play the same bloody stage before releasing a unit. Maybe is a way for SNK to make money by selling medals so people could buy Satellites. At least now you know when you release one during the stage in v1.5.
Game Impressions The fact that we have to share the home customization upgrades and split it down the middle, stinks for the person that has all their upgrades already fully maxed out but our teammate doesn't in 2v2 mode. So huge advice even more so now because of that, I say to all Metal Slug Defense players and especially to those who like to play the new 2v2 mode, max out all your stats first before playing online and teaming up with other players or your gonna greatly upset many teammates such as myself included and your gonna lose a lot. Also it's better to do that anyway because it will make it easier for you and faster to win medals.
Face it, it's future combat! Mechanized infantry, air superiority, and world destroying titans! Haha, just my opinion. That looks like a strong deck. I'm running both Hover Units and R-Shobu in my deck right now. I would say R-Shobu is the clear best air unit.
I do admit my internet connection is slow but I NEVER had any issue on 1.5, 2v2 was like PvE, everything was smooth and there were no delays at all. I'll have to quit playing and see if the next update fix this, these delays are so damn annoying, I've been losing almost every match because I can't use my spec attacks on time
sorry to hear that man, are you by chance a early skill type deck user? on 1.5 using a hopper mecha special will result in no delay but on 1.6 its another story..so it pretty much messes up that kind of deck (by the way im a early skill type user too) i remebered when MSD came around on google play and i can play on a 2g/edge network back then.. its not perfect but its pretty smooth on pvp battles(1v1).. but as the game went on updating ever so often.. inroducing new feature and system (2v2)(and new units).. connection has becoming an issue as of late.. and during 2v2.. you have to consider your opponents connection too,
Sorta wish this had a online componenent to it if not only even to prevent hacking. It's preventing me from wanted to spend money on this to support it due to hackers :/
