I noticed that as well, Sraven. Its had high and low points the past couple days.. Ive been seeing some interesting decks recently. Lots of big bosses, lots of hyukataro, even some old units resurfacing such as claws unit/donkey slug/utan lol. It got me thinking about setting up a deck just for fun. Its probably been done before, but i wanted it to be a doubles deck or a doppleganger deck. You basically choose all units that have a cousin unit. Not sure if it would be any good , but it'd be funny

    Unit examples: rshobu; rr-shobu
    Melty honey; flying melty
    Allen oniel; cyborg allen
    Hyukataro; 10000000Taro
    Shoe; karn
    Jupiter king; mini jupiter
    Girada- o; girada p.m.
    Di-cokka; di-cokka p.m.
    Etc.

I wonder how many odd/ similar unit combos there are that would work well together?.. You guys have any funny ideas?

Newbies try it all the time. They don't even have a full deck, often there are blank empty spaces.

I ran into a newbie once... I let all his human deck try their best while I just built up AP. Once I got into the danger zone, I released a Jupiter King and ZAP. All his humans were gone :D

worthy units for your hard earned medals part 1(opener units)

ok bros.. heres my list of medal worthy units... be adviced that its just a recommendation and i have experienced using them and it may vary upon different people by playstyles...

    50-100+ worthy of medals

1.girida -o(one of the most best 30ish medal units)
pros: good hp,decent dmg,low ap, msa blocker, its range can be a benefit or a disadvantage..even some pro 5star players use it
cons:slow prod rate.slow rate of fire)
2.slugnoid(has 2x fire rate than lv armor..slightly faster to prod than lv.)
cons: special can faceplant during activation(may fail)
3.lv armor(more constant than slugnoid, has good special cooldown and splash dmg)
cons: has weaker standard dmg than slugnoid by 50%)
4.hyakutaro(has very long ranged attacks, special is devastating)
cons: physically fragile and only be used as support at back)
    5. Pt. slug(for its price, has a good constant explosions, pros used to counter hyakutaros or used to kill some units fast..good anti air too)
cons: slow rate of fire.. must be on the backlines constantly)
6.airborne meltt honey(bought by because of its defensive prowess)
cons.. too slow moving both movement and fire rate.. must be used economically)

so this 6 (based on my view) are the most used units on todays meta that costs more or less 100 medals..the early game is more crucial than ever in todays update so building an opener must be economical..

in my next post ill add some 300+ starter unit list..then go for mid game, and finally the big boss units recommendation

edit:forgot to add drill slug(a good burst damager in sort ranged with.good bulk)
cons: can be flinched more outside of early game but still a good taking unit on mid-late game

Nice list! I have definitely been seeing way more slugnoid now. There also appears to be less players using airborne melt honey

worthy units for your hard earned medals part 2(opener units)

ok well go for the more expensive ones on the openers

the kof deck openers(choose them depend on your.gameplay)

1.iori(its a no brainer, the most crucial one to be added in the list.. although i seen decks that doesnt utilize him.. they make up for it on strategy)
    pros:heavy special dmg,msa blocker,fast moving,anti air,basically all in one melee unit..)
cons:not ranged, can intoxicate some players because of its power..leading for some poor execution and lack of strategy..

2.goro(has good bulk, good splash special(although not damaging enough its flinching is a godsend, can disrupt charging hyakutaros or others),a good mortar killer and hyakutaro counter(2specials thou)
if you are leaning for a more defensive opener, pick him..
cons:170 ap, melee.. in late game not much use exept for a msa.blocker and its crucial special

3.mature(this unit needs a bit of skill and practice to pull off but worthy nonetheless) has a special that can block almost any projectile known to metal slug defense world .. making your army survive longer in the battlefield under heavy fire.. only known projectile that can go through her specials are p.bots laser and elephant special)
cons: 140 ap so be economical early, can mess up the special casting of some units(specially iori) because mature needs to spam her special and anything near her can be clicked regardless, so practice is a.must..(not a begginner friendly unit)..can be runned over by msa

4.benimaru(a more rush oriented unit, a lot like leona but a bit bulkier and surprisingly more defensive because of its special, blocks bullets like mature but on close range)
a preffered unit if your gonna build a P.F. affiliation along with goro and kyo
cons: special has a slight delay on casting, can be runned over by an msa

5.kyo(the only ranged unit among kof, is buffed now to block msa.. special is uninteruptable(time it for a good msa blocker) and penetrates units)
can be used on a P.F. affiliation deck.
cons:after special can die easily because.he moves forward, exposing himself in front lines)..one of the least used kof units

6.vice(a good melee unit with constant rapid attacks, a good msa blocker)
cons:the least used kof units.. because her skillset is not that much of an impact.

okay so i summed up the kof opener units.. in some decks the first 4or 5 slots are early game..iven seen people with 2 or 3 kof units along with the ones immentioned on my earlier list.. here isnan example:

    1.iori
    2.lv armor
    3.slugnoid
    4.goro
    5.hyakutaro

this opener is intended clearly for damage..it has the most dps(damage per second) units..backup tanker is goro for its special and bulk.

    another example:

    1.girida-o
    2.slugnoid
    3.mature
    4.iori
    5.hyakutaro

this opener emphasizes overall balance..defence and offense are excellent but needs the constant support of a mature special

    1.goro
    2.benimaru
    3.kyo
    4.hyakutaro
    5.slugnoid

a more defensive manner, althou you can rush with ben just to mess up the opponents timing..others are free to setup like goro along with hyakutaro.and kyo
its the main staple of any P.F. affiliate

so ive pretty much covered up the early game..mid game now is more like who build up a good opener that became an army, then you can release the big units sort of

Can someone answer me this question?: If lvl 30 kyo fights lvl 30 girdia o using 'one' ranged attack and 'one' special, is it enough to kill it..? If so I suspect there are stat hackers out there adjusting lvl stats..

girida-o has a base hp of 3500..if by chance its has an affiliation bonus it has 3850 hp... a oneshot from kyo + its special is= i dont know exactly.. but i think it has a high probablility of surviving...its a tank that flinches alot so it has many probable causes too

    Hi everybody
First of all please excuse my english its only my 2nd language..
I want to share with you a bit of my time spent on MSD, and now i get my first General One Star, i decide to talk about a deck i really like for the moment, and a not so mentionned concept : MAP CONTROL.
(For sure this deck will be outdated with the next update, but keep in mind the general concept).

First of all what is Map Control and why is it so important.

Map control is the space between your base and your front line.

Why so important ? Because the more map you control :

-Better you can react to opponent threat
-All your units will come to front line with Special rdy to activate.
-Ennemy unit Specials will be delayed.
-Clumped together enemy army => maximize you splash damages
-With a MSA blosker in front, keep all you army protected to MSA

Map control is very important early and Mid-game and a bit less end game.
A stucked Iori can't do nothing against a fast Iori near your base.
That's why i think its always a bad idea to keep upgrading AP until the first ennemy unit comes to your base. Just try to keep the fight in the middle of the map.

    The deck :

    1.W.Mortar
    2.Hyakutaro
    3.Iori
    4.Goro Daimon
    5.Ptolemaic Slug
    6.Shoe
    7.P Bot
    8.Hi-Do
    9.Brain Robot
    10.Donald Morden

When i build this deck i was looking to have a good reacting deck, able to be aggressiv against not prepared deck and hav a decent late game. Inspired by the concept of the «#Death Ball#» from Starcraft 2 ( The best strategy game ever).
The idea, as everybody knows, is to always have a MSA blocker in front, get solid Walls to cover the big Fire power behind!!
I always keep in mind to be cost Effectiv when i build the deck. Always choose units that can overkill their own AP cost.

A bit of explanations on each units :

W.Mortar : Very cost effectiv !! 45 AP allow you to hit Sky, hit behind the front line, Get splash demages, Get map control (Good response to decks with sand Bags or Paratroopers), moving to front line, AND Kill Hyakutaro First if stopped properly in his running...

Hyakutaro : DPS DPS DPS !! Amazing, really deadly ! But so weak, keep it protected at all cost !
Can be very cost effectiv too

Iori : what can i say ? Map control, MSA blocker, Can kill Shobu and Slug flyer with his special... Awesome ! So Cost effectiv !

Goro : Lots of HP, block MSA, his special is fabulous : you can interrupt Hyakutaro special, kill mortar in one shot, and stop Ennemy army and knock it back => always good for map control.
    A bit expensiv

Pto Slug : Fast moving, so get close to front line fast, good for map control, MSA blocker, anti air, Good damages and Good splash. A good aggressiv tank !!

Shoe : i was running Mars mecha first but i realize i prefer to hav more fire power and a (small) response to Hi do. Good AP/HP ratio. Anti air !

P.Bot: in 7th position because cast too early can be a game breaker (160x* free food for you opponent on a well placed MSA).
Amazing DPS, contribute to enfonce the front line !!! keep it protected.

Hi Do : AMAZING !! his special kill Shobu and Slug Flyer like paper...

B Robot: the Best AP/HP ratio for bosses. A bit splash dmg. Can hold after an crucial error or a good MSA from opponent...

Donald : Only use at the very late game. His carpet Bombing reduce ennemy army and get you free AP.
Prefered over Rootmars because of his prod rate : Has a way better presence late game, not a dead slot when AP doesnt matter any more.
Prefered over Jupiter King Because i need good walls to keep Mortar, Hyakutaro and P.bot safe !

How to play it: (at least my way to play it)

Need at least 2 even 3 AP boost at first.
I always start 3 AP boost on large map.
Iori, Hyakutaro, Goro, Hyakutaro an mortar is a really good opening !
The power of this deck is that it can really be very aggressiv on a 3 AP Boost first !!

Continue to pump Iori, Goro, Pt Slug and mortar to push Hard on ennemy base
    OR
Switch to Shoe + P.bot to enter Mid-game.

Hyakutaro dont need to be spammed in early cause a well placed ennemy MSA will give to much AP to oppoent. 2 or 3 are enought for early game.

    Moved away Units:

Something a wanna note is i really care about not puttin units that give free AP food to opponent.
I was thinking about including the Flyers line (RRshobu and Slug flyer) but when you see a hi-do performing his special, its often free AP to opponent. And even if Hunter Walker is less played now, they all are so weak to him !

Melty honey is too defensiv for this deck

Clone Fio is very powerfull BUT on a miss click, its 180 free food to opponent. Can be disrupt by Mature special and after its own special, she is realy useless. Dont even block MSA..

Lv Armor, Slugnoid. : Very good early units, but dont fill with the concept of the deck. (Need good fire power behing good walls)

Black Hound : To weak on HP. Good anti air and spread dmg But Shoe is Stronger for the same job.

The real Theats of the deck :

Goro: will kil you mortar and reduce the power of Hyaku. Better to play around few Hyaku, pt Slug and P.bot.

Shobu (and the medium flyers line): Until Hi do is out, can rly be a pain in the ass. Just try not to feed you ennemy AP.
Stop Hyaku and Goro, prefer mortar and Iori and keep AP for Hi Do.

Clone Fio,Zombie Marco : Play wisely dont spam mortal or Hyaku!
This kind of unit need to kill many unit to be cost effectiv.
Will be always free food for you after the special.
Goro «#CAN#» be a good answer, but can push fio back and let her protected !! carful when using goro special

Mature : good hard counter to this deck !! prefer Mortar, Pt slug, Shoe, P.bot

Black Hound : When you see it, its better to save AP to Cast Shoe ! It will protect your weak units from anti air missiles. After it will be 300 free food for you :)
    Same for Hunter Walker.

I hope you all could understand me. Let's share our knowledges as you've done it so well...
Im not saying its the best deck but just a good deck for me. Let hav a try on it you'll be surprised :)

    Constructives comments are Welcome !!

Hey guys, I'm back, I was gone for 5 days since I went to China for spring break and they have an incredibly strict internet firewall. Anyhow, I'm back in action! I'm hoping to bring back the underrated units and analysis on popular units.

Also, Kyo's special does a butt ton of damage, it doesn't surprise me if his special killed a Girida-O, his special does quick work to Iori and he has a lot more hp than the Girida-O.

After last time, I had collected 300 medals and decided to buy Mature since I thought that her shield special is useful in every stage of the game.

That special is useless on opening stage though. Leona+Hyakutaro/Iori/LV armor/Slugnoid/Kyo or everything together on the list chew easily.

On mid game and late game, she is a GODDESS. Her shield stays for so long it absorbs so much projectile I won more than 70% of 2v2 game and its cooldown is ridiculously short you can spam it. Watching the shield absorbing Brain Robot's special attack is very satisfying.

Her normal attack, however, is her weakness. She charges opponent when they are close and then her shield duration is almost non-existent since the shield disappear when it hits enemy unit. Her HP is so low she lose against Leona 1v1. All I currently do is activate her special from behind and let the shield outpaces slow unit, making it good protection for my hyakutaroes.

However, some special attacks penetrate the shield, so far I see

    Elephant Slug's fireball
    Patrol Bot's Laser
    Drill Slug's Drill Special
    Jupiter King's Laser (Normal attack)
    Zombie Marco/Clone Fio's Vomit
Giant Caterpillar's Charge (It rammed into Mature once and kill her in the process.)
Fat Eri's Laser (I met her once.)
Rootmars slug's Special (It is full screen, right? It wipes all my Hyakutaro in 1 hit.)

    Current Nemesis
    - Super early Leona opening (She is now my top priority to kill now.)
    - Mature Shield (I also met her against my army too and she is even more effective against me since they usually accompanied her with Iori/Kyo/Leona/Daimon)
    - Hunter Walker (I have to invest in slug flyer just to kill this one unit and sometime it just walk past my slug flyers too.)

    Current Deck
    - LV Armor
    - Hyakutaro
    - Sarubia PM
    - Airborne Melty Honey
    - Mature
    - Slug Flyer
    - Elephant Slug
    - Metal Rear
    - Hi-Do
    - Donald Morden

    Eyes on
    - Red Shobu (This unit is everywhere right now.)
    - Patrol Bot (But with Rootmar slug still around, I don't know I should buy this one or not.)

    Current Medals Left - 105

When the next update hits the store, I fear that all KOF unit will be nerfed. So now I need to find replacement for Mature or find alternate strategy and deck entirely.

My current deck. Dream team :)
Play for almost a year in the MSD. And it looks like it starts to bother. Rarely has come to play, do not spend the medals, waiting for update.

MVP of the Update Issue #1

So this is a beginning of something new "review" I will be doing, called the MVP of the Update. So every Sunday before the actual update comes along, I will be showcasing the MVP of the update. You guys are encouraged to submit your candidates for the MVP status, I will make sure they are considered! I want to try to make it into three categories; offensive MVP, defensive MVP, and new unit MVP, so let us roll with the first MVP of the update!

    Offensive MVP Runner Up(s)
    Before we begin, let us have the runner ups for this title;
Slugnoid: Awesome changes to this unit, allows a P.F deck to be run as it is quick production. Only thing holding this unit from the offensive mvp title is the special being quite fickle, although the special does technically have infinite range.
Future Rebel Bazooka: This unit shreds through a lot of units and that's a great thing. However, the main problem is the production is lackluster and for 100+ AP, he gets ran over the MSA. If he was just resistant to MSA, my goodness this unit will be good.
    Offensive MVP: Hyakutaro
This man has been death lately, he feared more than the Patrol Bot. My goodness Hyakutaro you are too good, especially with walls and melee units being able to shield you. Let's see if SNK will allow you to stay this way.

    Defensive MVP Runner Up(s)
Future Shielded Rebel: Allowed the creation of ramp decks that is incredibly greedy. Only problem is it stays still and suffers from the same problems as the Future Rebel Bazooka.
Goro Daimon: One of the most reliable ways to get rid of mortars and Hyakutaro, he's there as a defensive unit as he forces knockback on units. Also helps a great deal he isn't one shot by Iori's Saika attack.
    Defensive MVP: Mature
With Hyakutaro all around, Mature is the only one that is able to stop these attacks cold. Also hits that she is constantly blocking incoming damage, even if she dies quickly, if she's able to soak up a lot of damage especially in late game, it's a game changing unit.

    New Unit MVP Runner Up(s)
Rootmars: Just awfully too large and gets in the way. Doesn't help that he has a long spawning time as well.
    New Unit MVP: Brain Robot
My goodness, this thing is an offensive beast and defensive beast, great damage and helps his normal attack is already an anti-air. His special absolutely murders things in the way, only reliable counter being Mature's Ebony Tears. The car throwing has a huge AoE, maybe it a pretty good counter to deck that run too much melee.
