not liking how SNK is trying to rif-off the freebie players with the intro of many high cost units in the 2 consecutive updates (but you can buy for a cheap price using real money)... if the trend continues, it will only discourage freebie players (e.g. me) from continuing to play...
But in the end all you need is 10 guys for a 10 slot deck. Being rich just means you have different cars in the garage but you just need 'one' to race!
Luckily, these units that comes out don't do too much damage in balance, its just a honest choice of you wanting to spend 300 medals for a maybe mediocre unit.
KOF will destroy the game! Hi Alls, I'm new registered but I was following the 3d before! I'm the only one that thinks that KOF character sucks? Why the hell in a metal slug based game the strongest (and almost unbeatable units) come from another games? WTF????
Version 1.18.0 quick update I) Not surprising at all to see more KOF units in (but seriously, personally prefer SNK to stick with the MSD units to preserve originality of the game) II) Kessi seems like a non-usable unit (at least for now) - happy for some and a bit disappointed for others I guess III) Some modifications to certain unit's production rate (based on in-game data and own observation and might not be exclusive): Nerfed: 1. Elite Arabian soldier :fast (4.3s) → normal (5.5s) 2. Tar man :fast(4.3s) → normal (7.15s, same as LV armor) Buffed 1. Crab nest :very slow → slow 2. Mummy generator :very slow → slow 3. A.P.C. :very slow → slow 4. Hunged mummy :slow → normal 5. Chariot : slow → normal 6. MV-280B :slow → normal 7. LV armor :slow → normal (7.15s) IV) some further modifications on certain units prod rate based on my own observation Donald Morden: v slow (24.2s) → v slow (22.9s, definitely not the same as Hi-do now) ; (also sp atk recharge rate shorten from 17s to 15s) Girdia-O: slow (8.7s) → slow (10s) (sp atk recharge lengthen from 4s to 5s) W Mortar/Mortar: normal (5s) → normal (5.5s) V) On the new unit Iori - way too overpowered, based on a few wifi matches with opponents of different skill, Iori alone is a lethal unit but not enough to ensure winning, but when used by a pro-player (and u dont have iori), u will probably lose. This guy is of different class among the KOF units. Here are some features (info gathered from other bros): 1. Invincible when using special 2. V power special, HP base halved when used. 3. Can block MSA 4. Its normal attack will move swiftly to opponents side (similar to Claw unit but much further distance) AND it will not be knocked back by Sarubias rolling cannon (the only strong melee units with this exceptional capability), but will be stunned by Daimon's special. Most players will let Iori swiftly arrived at opponents frontier then activate special to wreak havoc / massive damage. I think its special can (nearly) destroy a lvl 30 Sarubia VPM (11,000HP) It will probably be nerfed by SNK as there are already some raging comments in the MSD communities about this unit. As of now, he is defo worth 300 medals. So, putting aside the non-originality issue, why not spend 300 medals to buy and enjoy using Iori now and to use him to gain back 300 medals before he gets nerfed ;-)
I got beaten 5 time in stack in 1v1 against a player with Iori & Ben & S.F. Raider in his deck!! Not even my Sarubia v. PM + P. bot + Tarman+RR Shobu could do any resistance to this kind of stream attack, I found my self squashed inside my Base Capsule!!
Welcome brother, and I somewhat share your feeling (despite having bought Daimon too to stay competitive... should have wait and spend those 300 on Iori instead!)
Yes, its a really bad news to learn that Iori can actually by-pass all those Sarubia VPM's rolling cannon attack (the only strong melee unit with this exceptional ability). It will definitely dampen the value of Sarubia VPM in the deck. Having said that, SVPM is still effective against other melee units and I am still keeping it in my deck for the moment to see how things go.
Iori is very OP in my opinion. His special can even destroy Slug Flyer or Hunter Walker. Also he gets invincibility while preparing special, an excellent guy to cancel MSA (since he can block MSA, MSA explodes instead of passing through him, but he gets no damages) If you let Iori getting into your base, you are doomed to death.
BTW if you are still running Tarman, I would definitely advice to drop it. Not only it's production speed being nerfed, it's now being trampled by MSA. Edit: No trample after more tests
But with the constant nerf/buff and new units, you can never be sure whether your current "Best 10 units/ Best deck" is still valid in the next update, and hence theres always a potential need to buy new units, in order to stay competitive. In previous updates, you can buy cheap unit but with surprising effect (e.g. Mortar), but the past two updates - clearly a way for SNK to encourage "large spending" from players. If Iori is worth 300, I honestly do not think the other KOF members do (personally, Daimon worth 0-50 more than Sarubia VPM, Ben worth 50 medals more than Leona and Kyo 50 medals more than Clark/Ralf). For freebie players to earn 300 medals, is equivalent to around 900-1K 1v1 WIFI matches win (excluding the daily WIFI medal reward).
quick update- just whopped a 1-star player who uses only 5 units in his deck (iori, ben, vice, mature and slug flyer) after succesfully stalling 3 sarubia, its just pure fun to see these kof units getting tripped by my SVPM rolling cannon balls (even for Iori!, so apparently Iori can by-pass those rolling cannon for the first time using his normal attack; but once Iori has arrived at the frontier and stop, he can get tripped by the subsequent SVPM cannon ball).
No offense guys, but I think this is a little overreaction of Iori like the Hunter Walker. It's just that we don't have an effective counter to Iori right now, but I think Iori will be easier to handle later on, just like the Hunter Walker is easier to handle now.
Am I the only one that kinda likes that KOF units are being added? SNK loves doing crossovers, and Metal Slug got a crossover in KOF so why not the other way around? Ofc, if they decide to add all 60+ KOF characters, thats overkill, but why not have the iconic KOF characters in? I personally wouldn't mind getting Heidern (Which would make sense, he's there as a military drill general) and Igniz cause Igniz most op KOF boss ever. Although I must agree, SNK such have brought the KOF units when they finally ran out of Metal Slug units and they actually needed to create original units. Also the Saurbia cannon shots don't have a 100% percent chance of knockback, as Karn and Shoe are able to resist two shots before being knockbacked. Now, I must change my Tar Man for a nice offensive LV Armor, about time.
Wow I just stopped playing for several days and it seems Iori has gotten everyone's attention. Any bets on how long he will stay op? For people that have tap joy to get free medals.. I can share some tips. I got over 1k medals just by doing those rewards
Usually depends on the area, I'm in Korea and I get offers that does jack nothing. Although when I went to the US for winter break, I did manage to get a lot of medals through tapjoy.
Hyun is not Iori itself... I hate that Iori come from another game... so why not supermario or sonic???? Or what about a gigant pizza that spread mozzarella around? This is metal slug! Is a kind of lack of respect to have the strongest units (not only yori) coming from sowhere else... by the way, what you think about a kof deck (with some aungesterm, slug flyer etc for the 10% HP bonus)? probably too much medals and still some boss missing, but for early game it would be unmeatable
You do know that KOF is from SNK as well? Ralf, Clark, Leona are all originally KOF characters and I don't see that much hate for them. Is it because they've appeared in an actual Metal Slug game? Seriously though, the hate for KOF units coming in is unwarranted, gaming companies has been making crossovers since day one, and tbh I wasn't too surprised when they decided to bring over the most iconic KOF characters over. In fact, I think its awesome SNK is trying to actually create new metal slug style sprites for these KOF characters, it shows they actually put some time in creating and animating these units. And no, the KOF characters are not the strongest, in fact, most of them are rather weak and not worth the cost. Benimaru, bad, Daimon, strong but not game breaking, Kyo, annoying but easy to kill, Vice easy to kill, Mature annoying special but easy to kill, Iori strongest out of the bunch yes, but game breaking? No, personally, I'm not having too much trouble with Iori, just spam my Winter Bazooka at his face and he goes down with all melee units. The Iori OP calls right now are too quick imho, its only been half a day and you call it op already? Reminds me of the Hunter Walker appearance, we all thought it was gonna be the end of everything we knew, and what do you know, meta hasn't changed much besides for the inclusion of Karn and Shoe regularly in decks. I personally cannot call it "OP" just because it does well in its first day of appearance. Do what the Patrol Bot and Tar Men did and then I'll slap on an OP label. PF deck is still not reliable, as you will be blasted in late game, seriously. You would have to bet your early rush beats the opponent, but let's be honest, an early rush without Special Forces Biker is not a rush.
