It finally comes out tomorrow!!! but I won't be able to get it because 1. I am on vacation, 2. And I have a PSPgo (But they have a Walmart around here so I could get it, if I had a 3000...FML) It is being said that MGSW is one of the best, IF not THE best portable games ever created. It got a 9.5 from IGN and I am hearing 10's from some places. If you haven't tried the demo yet, please do yourself a favor and do so. and one last thing...THIS GAME KICKS SERIOUS ASS.
It'd be nice if they actually introduced new freakin' hardware and revamp the arcane design, not just shuffle some stuff around. I don't see that happening anytime soon, though. It'd piss off all the PSPGo adopters.
Shows how much you know. The PSP is over 5 years old, and has only gotten better with age. It has a higher percentage of quality games released than all other current generation portable consoles. We'll be seeing Resident Evil Portable soon, MGS: PW tomorrow, and a lot of really great games that are already out. Online gameplay for most of its best games, and graphics on par with many PS2 games. The amount of gameplay in existing games is pretty much mind blowing. I waste a good 10 hours a week playing games everyday, and getting sucked into online play. I think it all comes down to 'Are you a serious gamer?' If the answer is no, stick to your iPod touch or NDS and continue being ripped off on your purchases. If the answer is yes, I really don't think you could find a justification not to get a PSP. The NDS is great, but after a while, I really hate playing cartoons and puzzle games. It has a lot of great games, but they get sour on gameplay after beating or becoming tired of the game. Seriously, I've been playing SOCOM 2 online for 3 years, and I never fail to find a game. PSP could probably make it another couple years, but I think we are in for a really great surprise next week. Even so, my PSP will stick with me forever just like my Dreamcast.
I have a PSP and I love it, but I tend to play my iPod Touch a lot more because it's actually portable. I've tried my sister's DS, but I just can't like it.
Yeah, i agree but look at the psp market share, idevices surrpassed it in 2009 and now with all the great igames coming its only going too pull farther ahead. If there is a psp2 ands its good, i might get one.
That's why I got the Go, just as portable as the Touch. That was the problem with the DS and PSP-X000, just not portable enough for someone that doesn't carry a backpack or purse everywhere they go.
I want whatever your smoking. It must be good stuff for this kind of delusion. There's no way Sony is going to come out with something new-portable wise-and not have had any leaks or even rumors so far. Sony get it wrong from the get go with it's dumb ass UMD, and it hasn't gotten much better. I AM a serious gamer, and there has yet to be a game put out on the PSP that makes me want to take it out of storage to play. It does make a nice paperweight though.
The iDevices have sold more than the PSP, but they're not exactly in the same market. It's not like all those millions of iPhone owners were in the market for a gaming machine, they were in the market for a phone. The PSP has more games I'm looking forward to than the iPod for me. All I'm looking forward to on the iPod is Revolt and Deliverace(Reckless Racing). Coming up on PSP: Disgaea Infinite MGS: PW(not sure if I will get this one, but it's impressive) Hot Shots Tennis Persona 3 KH: BbS Valkyria Chronicles II Phantasy Portable II God Eater Ys Seven Ys: The Oath in Felghana Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles Final Fantasy IX(if we're counting PSone games) God of War: Ghost of Sparta Resident Evil Portable Games that that came out this year and I bought: Fat Princess Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Lunar: Silver Star Harmony BlazBlue Portable Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? 2 Hexyz Force ModNation Racers(though I'm not in love with this one) and I bought more games than these, but the others didn't come out this year or were Minis. It all comes down to opinion in the end I know, but the PSP is a lot better than the iPod to me. I really liked the iPod a year ago, but the recent release have left me very uninterested.
There have been rumors so far. And the rest is just opinion(so I won't argue that with you), I have nothing against the iPod or DS. They all have their good and bad qualities. Same with the PSP. But seriously no games? What kind of games do you like?
Wow, seriously. I got a PSP Go only 4 days ago so obviously I'm gonna be sticking up for it for a while, but what you're saying is just surreal. I'm enjoying the games I've got for it, and I'm sure I'll eventually have enough to make the Go worth getting, but there's no chance in hell I'm ever gonna match the number of games I have for the 360, PS3 or DS (maybe Wii), and I still wouldn't have been able to had I bought a PSP 3000.
Notice I said highest percentage. PSP doesn't get nearly as much shovelware. http://features.metacritic.com/features/2009/the-best-games-of-2009/ Rumors have been around for years, so much so that I don't think gaming websites have any desire to extensively cover the situation until they see something real. UMD wasn't great but they have much more space than DS carts. They can hold 1.8GB while DS carts hold like 128meg. Sony has always been at the forefront of storage media, and the lack of popularity and storage in flash cards at the time of the PSP, the UMD was the only way to go for a viable long term game disc. Sony brought us floppy, was the early financier of CD development, UMDs for PSP, and Blue-ray. I don't blame you for your PSP gathering dust, its a big device, but if you are on the go and want some portable gaming solo or online, the PSP has got it going on. Like I've said about the DS, its really fun with an extensive catalog of games, but at the end of the day I'm only carrying one console. I'm sorry you can't find a good game, it's incredibly easy.
Alright that might be true, but does percentage really matter? If there were only four PSP games and three were great, that's 75%. Wouldn't make it worth buying when you can pick up a 360 and have a choice of around 60+ great games.
That's a hard comparison to make because the PSP does have more than 4 games, and a 360 isn't a portable console, but I kinda understand what your getting at. It's hard for me to answer that question because I consider myself an informed gamer. One thing I really hate seeing is people selling their consoles with a lot of shoddy games. I can't help but think they are selling the console because they were unable to find affordable great games, which is unfortunate because there are a ton of great games for every console (which is why I attempt to own and try out each [console]). I can imagine an uninformed casual gamer would enjoy having a higher probability of choosing a good game.
I think there is more of a future for the idevices and the DS. If you havnt noticed, alot of large companies(eg. activision) are starting to take an interest in the appstore, and with e3 and wwdc, i think well see alot of major releases coming soon. the psp is a great system, but its old, bulky, and slowly losing its appeal. with iphone 4, itouch 4g, and 3ds on its way, sony will have to pull its weight around if its wants back in. the pspgo has been a sales fail, plus people want more than just a gaming console in their pockets. while the psp can do music and vid, it cant match the number of utilities on the appstore.
Last great game for PSP, what crazy talk is this? There are a wide selection still to come from the moderate to some of the biggest IPs out there. Capcom The Last Ranker (high profile RPG ala Breath of Fire series) Resident Evil Portable Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Square Enix Kingdom Hearts BBS The Third Birthday (aka Parasite Eve 3) Final Fantasy XIII Agito Level 5 Cardboard Senki / The Little Battlers (minature electronic figurines ala Pokemon) Sega Phantasy Star Portable 2 Valkyria Chronicles II Yakuza Portable Namco Bandai Ace Combat Joint Assault God Eater ... And now we know there are going to be further major announcements at E3. Oh, and Peace Walker (aka MGS5) is bloody ace. Unbelievable how much there is to it, it doesn't stop opening up.
