I'm surprised there is negative squawking on minor issues. On my iphone 5, I've had only obe crash. No control issues, bought the coin doubler but I didn't really feel now that I needed it. Cover is much necessary near the ending levels. Obe if the best games I've played in the last two years. Mp for me works great. Just wish I could set up a private room so people I don't want jump in
'Negative' is a relative term based on perception. I like to think of it as constructive criticism. Providing feedback is what a forum is for, good, bad or indifferent. Just because this game has been hyped doesn't mean it can't use tweaking. That being said, the game overall is good. There is much about it that I enjoy, with this genre being right up my alley. The animations are smooth. The enemies are cool. The music fits. I like how the environments are broken into segments, where you are closed in fighting groups of enemies and can't escape until you kill them all. The 'boss' fights (like the turret barricade) I have encountered thus far are well thought out. I do think the environment gets repetitive quickly, since we are basically playing the same board over and over. Random enemy generation doesn't help this much. Melee/Fire buttons need to be moveable so they can be tucked down into that right hand corner on the iPad. The crouch and cover mechanic is nice, but as I previously said it happens so often that it becomes redundant. I wish it was more strategic and less common. Less barriers, regardless of enemy strength, with a little more open space instead. The roll/melee used with one button can be tricky, which has been stated elsewhere, but I find I'm starting to get used to it somewhat. I do find this to be grindy, especially for a paid game, and the dual currency and consumable IAP are obviously not going anywhere with me.
After 6 hours of playing this game, I can safely say the following: it's too easy. Any noob can rush through the stages without using any kind of tactics, especially in multiplayer. I'm not saying the game is bad, it's just not balanced at all. Furthermore, there's nothing left to do once you completed all 30 stages and reached level cap 54 (why is 1 skill point missing?). No purpose except maybe helping low level players. Hope this gets fixed.
Minor for you, maybe. This game is practically unplayable on my 5s because for some reason, I find the virtual controls extremely unresponsive. I hold down on the fire button, Zed squeezes off a few bullets, then stops firing (and multiple tapping doesn't seem to work either). Moving is quite erratic as well. Likewise, when I try to join a public game (which is currently the game's primary saving grace, as I find the levels quickly becoming very repetitive), the game crashes back to my home screen a good part of the time (easily over 80%). A hard reset on my iPad sometimes solves this, but after 2-3 games, the problem comes back.
I see you like to complain. You're the one guy on here who is complaining about not liking the game just because of how the game is itself; while others are here talking about control issues, crashes, etc. Whenever anyone says anything good about the game, you try to shoot them down. Take your "constructive criticism" elsewhere, pal.
As much as I enjoyed the game, I feel the same way, although I did use a lot of the cover mechanism in later levels (sniper and machine gun robots when singleplayer). But yeah without any IAP I maxed out my character pretty quickly twice (iPad and iPhone). I don't get people saying it's too grindy or whatnot. It's like this every time, he repeats the same complaints until he finds someone who agrees with him lol.
Crashing on my iphone 4 at the first level. But I can't wait until a patch because this game sorta reminds me of Ratchet and Clank. Dunno why.
I think the dev mentioned while it's fee on android, you earn experience and money slower than the iOS version. But there's IAP there that makes the rate you earn those the same as on the iOS, making the game costing the same as the iOS version in the end. I think it was mentioned since people may pirate on the android version, might as well make the game for free and just tweak the rate you earn stuff.
This is the typical response offered up when there is a differing opinion that conflicts with the general consensus. If it is so offensive, there is the option to put forum members on ignore. I recommend doing that, since, unless I've broken a forum rule with anything I've said, then my feedback is no less relevant than any other opinion given here, even though it may be slightly harder for you gentlemen to swallow.
I would like to see 1UP's being available with coins earned in game as I have about 40k plus coins and nothing left to buy. Maybe at a value of 1000 coins per 1UP ?
So back on topic, I really am enjoying the flamethrower. The upgrades to it really expand how well it works. The flame gets longer and this is important. It also looks good and is challenging to use, almost like it is in between the feel of a melee attack and a ranged attack. I'm also enjoying the grenade launcher. I still think the SMG and Heavy MG bullet animation need to be centered with the barrel better. It's throwing my eye off when I use it. I am noticing as I progress that the board is changing slightly for the better. More color variations, narrowing and expanding walkways, slightly different objects. This is what the environments need more off, those kinds of twists and turns, more random placement of barricades in different configurations and varying sizes, instead of just parallel and perpendicular. It would also be cool to have destructible objects throughout the board, similar to the crates that appear after a level or section is finished. More level interaction and variation in general. It would also be cool to hide inside of objects and snipe. A transport mechanic over short distances and the ability to become temporarily invisible would be awesome as well. When one of your two weapons runs out of ammo, I wish it would switch over to the other automatically.
I like the idea of more destructible things, it would make things more interesting. On the invisibility idea, I was thinking about the idea of adding active abilities the other night. Maybe you could add an active skill for the end of each skill tree, but only be able to have one active ability equipped at one time? I think that would be really neat. And yeah, I would like the auto-switch as well
I think a short distance transport would really be cool in a survival mode, where you're surrounded by lots of enemies. Survival mode... Hmmm... The nice thing about destructible objects throughout the board is that is really connects you to the environment while also expanding gameplay. It's always fun to find secrets. Plus it provides more things to blow up, which is always good.
I love the simplistic arcade-ish model that really seems to work for this game, but I am inclined to agree that this game would only stand to benefit from more RPG driven elements. Active skills in addition to the passive, daily challenges with rewards, more level-up options... I think customization is the single greatest thing games can provide you with... As it stands, every one is level 54, everyone has the same skills (minus which of the 3 trees they didn't max out due to the level 54 bug) we all have the same weapons... okay, not all of the weapons will perform the same, due to the upgrade tree limitations there, which is great, but still... Character classes could add so much more here. I might be drawn and quartered for suggesting it but.... unique loot drops! gear? weapon mods? I know it risks emulating other titles or tarnishing the relatively simplistic mechanics of the game but... I feel like this could be a much, much deeper and satisfying game. I played the hell out of the game for a few days, but as soon as I unlocked everything, maxed everything... My interest dropped off sharply.... I chased the leaderboard momentarily, then realized how silly of an incentive that pursuit is in keeping my interest. As it stands currently, that is really the only purpose for continuing to play, other than if you are actually able to play multiplayer with your friends.... But still, how many times can you smash a level with a few buddies for nothing more than adding consumables and worthless currency? Game is in serious need of longevity additions, in my 2 cent opinion
