Thanks for that. It was very hard for me to stick to non-violent, so I am a bit proud of myself for keeping to my vision and making a game that doesnt revolve around killing stuff. That can come later! Your tip worked by the way, the reviewer revoked his review. So that's great! Every 1-star review is like a painful wound! Haha! I have seen Melodive running on an Ipad1, but it's like 10fps or even less. It's not recommended at all, since it's the fluidity that I want people to experience. Maybe you have a friend or something. I would love for you to try it since you have followed the thread. Melodive is something that needs to be experienced, that's the problem!
Me too. I am hoping that since the gameplay of Melodive can extend for years, it will catch on eventually. Maybe it's something wrong with the app-name/icon/description? Would love feedback on this as I am submitting the update today. I think I will keep it mostly as is, but I have re-written the help, and some of that will migrate into the app-description maybe. People keep complainging about vague goals, so I have tried stating this very clearly in the help, but maybe the app store description is a bit too vague/mystical? I have learned a lot from the release but I see that there much more to be learned. Opinions most welcome!
After following this game since before it came out I finally had a spare buck and took the plunge (so to speak). It's pretty much everything I hoped it'd be. Very, very well done. I was worried that I would have trouble with the controls since I've ever played flight sims and heard others say they take some getting used it, but I was surprised to pick them up pretty quickly (once I realized how to go "right and left" by rolling and pitching). One thing this game reminds me of is deep sea diving. The inky black is like an abyss and the way you pitch, roll, and propel yourself forward in short bursts reminds me of some kind of mini sub. I hope for a future game you might fully explore this deep ocean feeling and add bubbles and strange alien fish swimming around. : ) Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say what a great game you have here. I'm completely hooked!
I just had what felt like the fastest game ever and I managed to maintained the speed for a large portion of the run. I was really proud if this run, so I thought I'd share it with you guys. I really wish I would've recorded it.
That's great indeed! You're lucky that you were able to contact him. That doesn't sound good. I didn't expect it to run either, but, I thought, you never know. No friend But, I will most likely get a newer iPad some day, and Melodive will still be there. Do you have any plans for an Android release?
I just wanted to report this game is as good as ever, can any of u specifify the 1.1 update for melodive
Hey, thanks for those words! It's good to hear that someone without a lot of flight sim-experience can get into Melodive. I hope Melodive can have a broad appeal and not be limited to one definition of what it is. There are people several with similar associations, I can understand. It would be cool with a underwater game for sure. The new zero-gravity mode makes it even more like that.
Nice going, the update will favor speed a bit more in the score, so It's good you get your training! Ante is really upset he's no longer the master of the tuniverse! I managed to plug an exploit in the new update, that's why it's a bit late. Ante figured out you could just cruise around at zero g. Now it's much more difficult. Also since the gravity is slidable, the heavy gravity-bonus will go from 1x to 2 with the gravity slider. Also the terrain will be a bit denser in zero gravity (like light gravity is now). The difficulty will go up to 200 % at 0% gravity and only 100 % at heavy gravity (like it is now). Also the start speed in "arcade"-mode will be a little higher than it's now, so you'll sooner get into the action. I have posted the 1.1 update to Apple and asked for a expedited review (fat chance). Here is what's new: - Nicer colors - Better and clearer help - More boost from the start - Gravity-slider: From zero to heavy as it is now - 16 % more handling - Two game modes: Arcade or free flight. Arcade is normal play, but free flight is new and will be much nicer for just exloring. It won't speed up like arcade and also you can bump a lot more. - Score tweaking -> a slight bonus for flying fast and for having heavy gravity- - 1000 Melodium for everyody! Hopefully this update answers some of the feature-request, but keep 'em coming! Next release will hopefully have the soundpacks. I am leaning towards one master unlock price that will include everything. Hopefully I will add 3-4 sound packs from the start. I also would like to make a sandbox where players can make their own private world, but that's a bit further into the future. I am interested to hear if that is interesting for anybody?
I have gotten some request, but it's a bit hard because of the device fragmentetion. Melodive needs dual core processor and a nice gpu. But I would like to port it, because then I could probably port it to webgl and mac/pc also. I am looking to hook up with some professionals to do this, but now I am trying to make Melodive happen on iOS first. Not an easy task!
Cool!, see the answer above! Unless Apple grants my request for expedited review (not likely), it will be available in the appstore in a week! I am ditching the Music category, as it's a mislabel and can give people false impressions. It's first and foremost a flying game!.
Ok, got thumbs down from apple. So it's gonna take a week for 1.1 to surface. Popped intp the dunger plunder thead. That guy was up to 1.17 already so I better get my act together! Please tell me people what should the categories of Melodive be in games? I'm leaning towards racing/simulation but adventure/simulation sounds also nice! I feel with the leader boards that Melodive can be regarded as a racing game, but the whole experience is maybe more adventure? Opinions please? Arcade is too tough I think. Almost every game on iPhone is Arcade/something.
I think racing/simulation makes most sense. I always felt to qualify as an adventure game, there should be some sort of structured adventure. I guess you could say the experience is adventurous, but I feel it would be a little misleading to people who would pick it up.
I agree with the above poster. Also, this game is awesome. You really do improve every time you play. I am inordinately proud to have just become a Melodive Master. Thanks again for the great game and keep up the good work! EDIT: This is weird. For some reason, Game Center isn't registering my most recent, highest score but is registering the depth from the same game. I played on light gravity; do I need heavy grav for high scores?
Hey Guise, congratulations on becoming a Melodive Master! 14,000 meters is real good. Now you can join the competetion. The ramp-up of difficulty in Melodive will stop when it reach 100% in heavy gravity. It will take some time for the scores to surface., but there is also a small gc-bug in Melodive 1.0. It wlll only post your all-time best scores to game center at the moment, instead of every score. I thought I should save apple some work, but i totally forgot about the "today"-button in gc. Haven't used it much. GC came as almost the last thing I did on Melodive. It was copy/paste and voila! Boom! Speaking of GC, i'm thinking of adding a third leaderboard, namely: first to 10,000 meters. It could make the game even more race-y. 73 Melodive Masters in the world now. I hope everybody is showing their friends Melodive, because it's about to fall of the charts. Could really need some sales this weekend.
Yes I think so too. Also, the visibility will not be good in Adventure. Racing is a better choice since racing is for people that like to drive fast. I might have to rewrite the descrip somewhat though. Make it a bit more clearer what's the game is about in the end.
Beta-video Hi, Luke and everyone! Here is a 10 min Beta-testing movie. It is from the 1.1 update. Check out the depth and score... The score is not accurate, because the speed-scoring is too high. But I feel I had a crazy run, I gave all I had with speed and I did my best not to die. I am looking forward to coming out of the sandbox and play... You can see the new tuning-system with ARCADE/FREE, GRAVITY and BOOST. And you can hear how a Master Melody works with the Metal Melodium, It´s kind of groovy sometimes! I´m glad I got this one on tape, because I missed my best run. At least check out the endscreen! http://youtu.be/jla9QGBmTfc / This is Abbey, not Johan, posting on Johans computer...
Ok.. Sorry, my computer hung up and I borrowed Johans to post the video. But as I said I like Melodive fast and I love the competition that is building up with all the new Masters of the Tuniverse! Hope Melodive will make it good in the racing-category, I feel Melodive is a true racing-game at least since GC got connected. I hope the new tuning-system will make Melodive easier to master and a quicker path to higher speeds and high-gravity gameplay. / http://youtu.be/jla9QGBmTfc
Thanks for the reply! I plan on expanding my AppStore review today to better express my feelings about this incredible game.
Thanks man, I really appreaciate it. I love to read user reviews, it's the best part of this whole thing (except making the game of course!).
I don't currently have a device that can play Melodive, but I decided to go ahead and purchase the game anyway. I've enjoyed following this thread and the developer comes across as very likeable, which did factor into my decision to buy it. At least I'll have something cool to check out when I eventually upgrade. Best of luck with Melodive and future projects.
