    No, they're still there. I'll have a look. :)

Color cycling has been on my wish-list for a long time, but it's just so damn expensive. Need to convert fra hsl to rgb on the fly. Desat-effect is much easier. But keep thinking about the colors! Variations in the sky could be done, it was one of the last things that fell into place. I'll sleep on it... :)

I have to tell you, it so doesn't matter how terrible I am at Melodive, because the experience is so, well, mellow and satisfying, that I don't even care how long it takes me to "improve."

    Instructions? Meh.;):D

Thank you so much for this, I will of course stay the course regarding my vision. And you will get better if you play more, but it's very nice to hear that you are enjoying yourself on the way! :)

    Iphone!!!

And I´m not looking forward to face him on an iPad! If he gets to 30 000m on IPhone!
I usually play on iPad3, so when I play on iPhone5 I feel my sight forward is limited and Melodium is harder to detect. I have an extra eye just scouting for Melodium!:(:D
I think iPhone and iPad should have separate scoreboards. I feel Melodive is best on iPad and should be played on one!

This game has seriously made me consider getting a next gen ipad. I never actually thought I would be as impressed as I am with iOS releases, but this, Super Hexagon and Year Walk were really good. And in terms of visuals, games like Tiny Wings, Ridiculous Fishing, Wide Sky, and Hundreds are incredible. But when I was playing on an ipad, I really didn't feel comfortable doing the crazy maneuvers that I can do on the iphone. Like turning around to get metallic melodium. Making quick moves and regaining control on the ipad seemed a bit difficult to me. I guess I could just turn down the handling, but if I did that I wouldn't have the same level of control as I have on the iphone. What setting do you have handling when you play on the ipad and on the iphone? This game also makes me want to play flight sims. Were there any flight sims that inspired the creation of this game? Could someone recommend me some good ones please? Preferably with more of a game feel as opposed to a simulator, but top priority being good feeling controls.

To see a Tuniverse in a grain of...

I think it´s rather the lack of good fly/sims that gave birth to Melodiver.
    Melodiver is a gamers-game.
And in any arcade-game the feeling is most important. So playing in iphone is quite strange for me, but it is a question of technique. I have basically the same settings on both devices. HEAVY/80%HANDLING/60%SPEED/95-100%BOOST when I just play for fun. 0%SPEED when attempting Hi-scores these days. I really wish speed was more premiated! But it´s fun either way. I was actually suprised how nice it is on iPhone5 but I am used to the big "heavy" iPad-connection. As I said before, I sometimes stand up playing. So I can be even more responsive. It is sometimes like Virtual Reality and you engage in the game with your whole body! And I actually get real adrenalin rushes from playing. I can´t say it enough - Melodive is the best flying experience I have ever had...simulated!

P.S I almost took another Hi-score, but had to abort... I forgot the Gamecapt. again...

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I mean I want to try flight sims for the pc. I assumed as good as you and johan are that you have experience playing flight sims on the pc.

I just dropped in with a request: If somebody "american" out there reads this and hasn't written a review on the AppStore, could you please please do it now? There is a guy on top what gave me 1 star because Melodive would start. I emailed with him and it got resolved (he updated to 6.1.3), but the review can't be withdrawn. It gets to me!

If anybody have trouble running Melodive (there has been three reported cases of crashes after start), do the following:
    1) Restart device (Melodive loves memory, about 80 mb)
    2) If not working: Re-install Melodive
    3) If still not working: Update device to latest iOS & Re-install Melodive.

(I'm also writing this for google).

Also do not hesitate to contact me at the support email, or here at in the forums.

    Sorry I don´t know...

You will have to ask Johan, I have seen one of those old superfancy fly/sim joysticks in a box of junk at his house, but I don´t think he uses it. :D
And for me, suddenly having the chance to help tuning the game. It was a blast, I feel I know alot about the feeling of flying from movies and dreams and from watching birds, and first and foremost does it feel right, does it feel nice and real. Real and dreamy at the same time. I can´t say it enough - how much I love the feeling of flight in Melodive especially when flying fast...

On a similar note, have you played The Polynomial? I was searching for games involving fractals and came across it... the screenshots are something to behold.

We need more developers working with fractals and procedurally generated 3D worlds on iOS, I love this stuff.

We have a new Master of the Tuniverse!

Well, hat off to you! Luke you made it! Now I can die in peace!
I was actually recording a gaming-session on the iPhone, when the GameCenter-message popped up on screen!:p:: He he, I got so stressed because I was out of my comfort-zone with my iPad so I crashed. Atleast I broke my own Hi-score on the phone...:(
Did you finally get that brand spanking new iPad or what is it called...4?
Or did you do it on the phone?
I got it on tape. I´ll post it on youtube later...

    Got it.

Well, with the Commodore 64 app you could play Rescue on Fractalus or The Eidolon...

On iOS I can't think of anything aside from Trees of Life (which I highly recommend, though it's a tad lame in not being universal.)

I used to play Rescue on Fractalus on my dad's CPC when I was a kid. Good times :)

In general I prefer 3D graphics though. I'll just keep watching Johan and hope his next app turns out as good as this one ;)

Did he try to remove the rating? If you go to iTunes and click on your e-mail address you get your profile page, from which you can manage your reviews/ratings. Each review has a "remove" link.

Sorry if that's obvious and there is some other issue, but I didn't know that was possible until today, so I figured maybe he just doesn't know that you can do that?

Nah, I every flight sim is so flat! If anybody is on pc i would recommend anteworld, it looks amazing.

I always dreamed about a flight sim with voxel terrain and now I've got it. The reason Melodive looks like it looks is because that terrain is the most 3D i could come up with. It enhances the sense of speed if you're always close to something. Also the mushrooms are there for scale, not only to point to the sky! :)

Last, but not least: Tilt is very sensitive, much nicer than a joystick imho. Or at least my clunky saitek cyborg3D.

Ok, back to coding. This is what's happening at the moment:
Gravity slider:From zero to 2x heavy gravity = more speed. Zero gravity is super nice.
Game mode switch: Chill or Arcade
    - Chill will not increase in speed as you pick up melodium
    - Chill will not yield hi-scores or be anywhere near the leaderboards
    - Chill will not loose as much boost when colliding
    - Chill is for mellow play, but you can turn up boost and gravity and get some very good training in this mode.

It would pretty easy to put 3d-fractals into the engine (for another game), but I am dreaming of a fully fractal flight sim where the detail would be unlimited and the scale would change as you fly closer to something so you would never hit the wall. Ha that would blow minds! :)

On the PC, this reminds me most of Descent 1/2/3 or Magic Carpet / Magic Carpet 2 (injured myself playing that last one!)

Not many voxel flight sims, Comanche series were great, but arcade-y, Terra Nova was a fantastic Starship Troopers-esque squad combat game with voxel terrain.
