The free camera option is new(ish). The camera pitch (up/down) is still locked so you can't place the camera in a position where it's impossible to tap the ground to walk.
I feel that sometimes, but some of the puzzles Ive been experimenting with take the "not able to see" to full effect.. even trying to add "secret doors" to sneak past difficult situations.. I also wish the worlds could be bigger, the restraint is good though or I would try and recreate the whole Metal Gear Solid 2 "Big Shell" on one map I think some other bot behaviors would be fun, almost having one each embody the Pac-Man ghosts behavior... that makes it more of an action-y game, though... just as a creator it would be fun to have those tools available. Been playing around with physics, multiple interconnected rotation motors.. really fun sandbox, Martin.
There's a specific level that I believe requires you to knock B off a platform above onto one in middle of water, and I can never gauge the proper position he needs to be in for him to drop there instead of in the water. That's one of a few levels where I really wish I had more control over the camera. Another was the maze, but I managed as is. (It's possible the new free camera would have helped with that one.) I think the camera is also a big reason why I haven't tried to make my own levels yet. It seems to require a lot more patience than I have. Being able to see it from different vantage points (like top-down) would help a lot.
This is material for an app update! Thanks for all suggestions re. the first level where you control a red bot instead of B! I felt they were rather big changes. So I did a simpler experiment: have B in the level, but clearly trapped behind bars (attached below). The idea is that players will immediately see that the top bot is not B, and soon give up on trying to walk B anywhere and instead focus on trying to control the red bot. What do you think? I also got a bug report on Double Hammer (Level 42). It can happen that the hammers lean the wrong way and get stuck instead of dropping down. This prompted me to have yet another go at replacing that level. My personal favorite candidate, among the previous attempts, was Balance Bot. But I believe I'm the only one who actually completed that level! (Presumably because B isn't very cooperative and tries to remain in one place instead of following along the platform.) I have attached a variant of the level where you balance a ball instead of a bot. Would you say it's a good replacement for Double Hammer? These changes would require resubmission. But I'm probably resubmitting anyway to add a default #mekorama hashtag when sharing. This would make it much easier to find new levels on Twitter.
Went back to some levels that were frustrating me now that I have the free camera, and I agree that it should be the default. It feels much more natural.
I agree. Free camera should be the default. So much easier to manipulate. But it still gets stuck every now and again - like hitting a wall and won't stay put - kind of bounces back. By design?
Good to hear! PM me your email. You're welcome Default? Tough decision! Am I really the only one who thinks the snapping camera is super convenient!? Or is it just that those who like it don't even think to comment on it because it's the current default? This is definitely not by design! Can you think of situations where this happens? I'm not able to reproduce it.
Good question. 1. It doesn't have iCloud save. 2. It does save progress between app updates. I guess this will work between the beta version and the release version because they have the same identifier. But I'm not 100% sure.
Hi martin, Gamecenter seems to work with the new Beta 9.3.2 will you implement it now or is that too much to ask, because I would love to play it all again only for the Achievements, don't want to push it though relax ha ha.
It would have to be in an update. But now that we're on the topic... Before GC broke down for me, I made an effort to use it more. I wanted to "get the hang of it" so I could integrate it in a useful way. But I got stuck on the friend-finding step. No matter what I did I couldn't find my friends on GC! There was no search, and it completely ignored the fact that I've handed over my Facebook password to iOS. All I ever got was a list of seemingly random people I could add. How is this supposed to work!?
Well I have no friends in real life so would not know how to do it via Gamecenter, I have friends via Toucharcade on Gamecenter that's it, don't even have pets.
I imagine the save will carry over from beta to live. It did with Warbits, which I also tested. Balance Ball works much better. Nice touch. I only recently realised that moving blocks can press the exit. Hadn't thought of using balls. You guys are making me sad with the friends stuff! # Seriously though, I don't have many Facebook friends on GC. I have seen recommendations based on my contacts, but most of my GC friends are from TA or from multiplayer games I've played.
I believe you are. When i 1st tried Free Camera about a week ago, it felt more natural, and that why i raised my vote for it to be the default camera. I see im not alone in that matter.
My point is, there may be a strong selection bias in effect. Those who prefer the current default have had no reason to speak up. Even if I managed to conduct some kind of poll, where 100% of the beta testers answered, there would still be a strong selection bias towards experienced gamers who have such a big interest in mobile games that they sign up to beta test a game that isn't even released yet. This makes it hard to know who is actually in majority.
