What a great start! This is going to be a big thread. # How does one go about editing the level and author names? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but....
Thank you all for the kind words!! And donations Nice with some TA-forum-specific scanning help Mr Bez! I don't plan to add ads. But I do plan to learn from this PWYW experience and let it guide my next game's monetization model By writing my own engine instead of using Unity, by using 100% procedural music, and by caring about size. I think most developers just don't care if there's a little bloat here and there. There's a Facebook page (that no one seems to frequent). Or search Twitter for #mekorama. Or check this thread for levels! There are actually two reasons there's no official site: 1. So anyone can make their own featured collections according to taste 2. So the game can never go the route of Disney Infinity and Project Spark. I can never kill Mekorama's "service" because there are no centralized servers to kill! Solved it! Very clever and very tricky. Hint for new players: Spoiler it may help to have played Level 44 Crush On You and Level 34 Fort Escort first Lovely! Great use of auto sliders!
Amazing game Great game, amazing graphics and I really dig the soundtrack. Actually did a review of the game Going to donate as soon as I finish all 50 levels!
Loving the robust physics. I stuck a long beam of metal on a motor with no counterbalance assuming it would happily rotate but nooo, it fell off. # Love it.
This game is huge! Currently building for 1,5 hours on the same level! Stay tuned because the level is going to be amazing!
I've been a major fan of yours since day one (as apparent in the Odd Bot Out thread), so I sincerely, sincerely hope this payment model works out for you. You're a one of kind developer and your work honestly speaks volumes and puts other developers to shame. Nothing to add to this thread, really. Mekorama is damn near a masterpiece. It's gonna be tough to top this off, but seeing the same evolution of Martin Magni from OBO to this probably means the next game is going to be something holy...or unholy.
Congrats with the launch of this beautiful game! I've stopped using FB but still have an account and your game made me go back to "search" for additional levels as I love the idea of user created levels as it can forever expand your amazing game. I am intrigued by you donation driven model and wonder if it will drive additional sales to your original game as well. I'm glad to hear you weren't moving to "add ads" although I understand that as a game designer you do need to make a living. The idea of adding ads with them being permanently removed with a donation seems fair if necessary. I'm not a fan at all of freemium or f2p with IAP. But am more of a some that do have ads but can be permanently removed to become premium with an IAP. Sorry for rambling on this but again intrigued by your model and as others stated I truly hope it is successful. It could be a game changer in mobile game pricing.... Your model to me is a hybrid.... similarities to the free to try (mainly limited levels for most game) and pay to make it premium or pay to remove ads but instead allow a donation based on users choice on how much they value or can afford to pay / donate. User created levels So far it has been fun to "search" for levels... It truly is a fun search as I did come across some on FB, some on Twitter, and some here in TA. I did run across some issues with some levels not opening due to the quality of the picture and QR not being clear enough. I hope people on TA read an earlier post (apologies but can't recall who wrote it but providerd clear instructions on how to post and download levels as TA app poses issues as some photos aren't higher enlighten quality for the QR to be read. I've experienced this a lot but finally got them to work! Repeated levels Any chance you can add a feature that warns us if we already have a level DL into our user created page? I know we can delete DL levels so it would need to be only a warning for if we have it stored not ever downloaded DTC..? Thanks again for the amazing game and I'll be donating soon as well as read more about your first game that I can tell many TA users loved! Congrats!
Just tried the first four levels, and it's really cool. The production values are through the roof! This clearly has some captain toad in its dna, so it's great to see a game like that on mobile. It fits this platform nicely. Great job devs!
It was an honor to play test this game. Martin is a brilliant & classy individual. The amount of thought, detail & love he puts into his games is something others should strive for. When I play his games I'm reminded why I love iOS gaming. Best of luck Martin. I hope this game gets all the attention it deserves. You've created another absolute gem that'll have a permanent spot on my devices.
Wow wow and wow. What a perfect little game this is. The level design and sharing aspect is sheer brilliance.
In order for this type of pay model to work, the game itself must be better than most. This game is beautiful and brilliant! Donation made. Thank you.
