Almost bought it until I read some of the user reviews on iTunes about the controls...or are some of them a bit of an exaggeration? CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,582 30 48 #6 CygnetSeven, Jun 29, 2012 I didn't care for the button placement in Mega Man 2 (in landscape mode). Mega Man 10 is a much better game to play and much easier to play than MM2. The controls are fine and hey, its Mega Man. I wouldn't say it's the best out there but if I were to grade it I'd give it a solid B. No regrets, especially seeing the improvements from MM2. Definitely worth $1 IMO. Why wouldn't they just have you scroll through the entire level? It's pretty jarring visually the way the have it set up here. I'm just going by videos though but that's really the only thing holding me back from purchasing this... MeanTuna Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2012 752 0 16 Writer #14 MeanTuna, Jun 29, 2012 Bought this a couple hours ago, and while its a very competent game, with solid controls and a load of contnent. being a fan of the original trilogy ( and actually still having it with my old Snes) its just too dumbed down in quality compared to the original. Dont get me wrong everyone should go a grab this game if a fan of platforms even on the regular price because its an absolute bargain, but why didnt they ported the original one? Its so much better on a console that so much older than what we have now! Maybe its the fact that i played the old ones so much back in the day but then again when I hooked up the SNes to check it I confirmed the superior quality in animations and graphics, not counting the obvious physical controler advantages. Ahh too much writing, great game and a real steal at a buck. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #15 Connector, Jun 29, 2012 Well, somewhat mixed feelings about this one. I was so excited since I loved playing this game when I was younger, so first thing this morning I went and bought it. Downloaded to both my iphone 4 and also to my new ipad. This game is a little strange, in that it plays totally different between my ipad and iphone. The main difference is in options settings, which you can to full or normal. Normal is a square, and about half the size of the screen. First off, the framerate is really bad on both my iphone 4 and new ipad. The movement is jerky and not too smooth. On the iphone, I like to play on full screen, but the ipad seems to play better on the normal screen option. The sound too is not too great, sounds compressed and with some noise. But, the old school feel and controls are good. On the ipad, had to move the buttons closer to the screen, the joytick control is huge, too big for my tastes, and you can not move it. So controls are better on the iphone. However, if you play on the half size normal view, the game looks more like the original game. So anyway, kind of mixed feelings, if I bought this for the full price, I would probably have been disappointed kind of the same with with capcom vs marvel 3. It feels much more like a computer emulator version than one designed for ios. However, this is only 99 cents right now, and for fans of the old school game, for the price, I would recommend it. Don't expect too much, and you will enjoy it! MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #16 MidianGTX, Jun 29, 2012 Sounds like something is up with your iPhone or the game's compatibility with it. I'm playing on a Touch 4th gen (so only half the RAM you have) and the framerate is completely smooth, I could barely spot an imperfection if I tried. The character moves very stutterly, maybe the character needs more fluid movement by more frames per cycle movement. But I dunno, maybe the original was the same, but the older console versions seemed much smoother and faster to me. But I would like to stress that I like the game but I am a big fan of the megaman series. MeanTuna Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2012 752 0 16 Writer #18 MeanTuna, Jun 30, 2012 The older console versions were smoother and faster! But this one is well optimised because I too installed it on my ipod 4g and it runs very well without even needing a device restart. The game is good, is just that the older ones were way better... Khamous Well-Known Member Aug 15, 2009 2,301 0 0 #19 Khamous, Jun 30, 2012 Well, clearly. Specially since MMX is one of those games that needs physical controls to be played to its full potential. But I'm a huge mega fan so just the music in each level makes it worth it, even if it isnt as good as the original (those really send me back to my childhood). There are IAP BUT you do not need then unless u don't want to spend the very short period of time unlocking all the items, however there is an alternate metal soundtrack you can get which is pretty nice. The levels are split up into segments for a specific purpose which in my personal opinion is the best thing about the app and is the only thing I play on it mostly if I'm not speed running hardmode(a lot harder than snes version), survival mode. Survival mode puts u in 4 random selected segments or "floors" of each level and the 5th "floor" is the boss and that continues through every level until you die, oh and no health. There is also time and score attack which are good, time attack has u picking up green orbs to keep the clock alive. Overall this is a great tribute to capcoms best platformer.
