Hello, I'm pleased to announce my latest game is in beta right now for iOS - I would love to get some early feedback from the community of RPG gamers out there. Here is a link for iOS -Will https://testflight.apple.com/join/Q8x1OFK3 Trailer: Promo Images: MazeQuest 3 Facebook Page http://fb.com/mazequestRPG MazeQuest 3 Instagram Instagram.com/mazequestadventures MazeQuest 3 Design Document & Dev log http://willorr.com/mazequest3
Downloaded in view of Western theme which is a refreshing change. First choice of character class is Onaki. Don’t know what that is and neither does my internet. So started with Cowboy which makes more sense. Very basic game as yet. More like pre-alpha than beta. Not played previous Mazequests so not sure what will be added. Swiping up on character to access stats/inventory is good. Quick and convenient. Town is being well set up with quests and stores. Combat looks tactical, using positioning and cover. I’m always well outnumbered by turkeys, with insufficient funds to buy help or equipment.
Hey Asp, thanks for playing, really appreciate the feedback. The prototype definitely has some work left to do on it, thanks for helping the process! How to play the prototype, if your finding it too difficult, and want to just check out all the spells and possibilities in a "god mode", on the start screen, go to OPTS> CHAR DEBUG > ON Edit: Then you must re-start the game, and you should have a "TEST" button under each of the starting character options. Hit that button instead of "START" and you will start the game with a character who has all the skills, spells, and items currently in the game. We are in the process of balancing difficulty and game economy. When you win a battle with turkeys or bears, you get meat, which you can sell in the general store (the store with a barrel logo) for quick cash to upgrade your weapons. Right now, each piece of meat is worth 50 gold, which is actually too high, it will only be 15 gold in future versions, and quests you get from the bartender and sheriff will be worth 50 & 100 respectively (they are now only worth 15 gold). Onaki is a tribe of natives in MazeQuest fantasy land... Here is a graphic breakdown of the different starting characters and their strengths. More info on each character is available at http://willorr.com/mq3-characters
Also, I made two tutorial videos today in response to some confusion, I apologize at this time the game is very poorly on-boarded, so here are some companion videos to help you understand how to movement and combat works. Basic Movement and User interface: Basic Combat and Strategy:
Thanks for posting tutorials. One issue with this situation of initial placement before start of battle. There is no ‘eye’ icon here and I didn’t know which was ‘me’ and which was the hired gun. It would be helpful to view my units at this stage to check weapon loadouts etc so that stronger units can be placed to cover weaker ones. Quite important where combat is evenly matched. So, is it possible to include the view icon on this screen?
Ah, I will look into this - It's unfortunate that your starting player and hired gun are dressed very similar, however, the starting characters do have unique sprites. You will notice that your starting character cowboy has a lighter skin tone (he is the center most sprite). I will add this to our list of feature requests however...
Ok, thanks. Probably not a situation that will occur often. Overall, the game loop appears to be working fine. Have explored the town and battle map with various characters, skills, spells and equipment; all without problems or crashes. This is on an Air 2 with OS 13.2. I do like the clean screen look without any UI clutter. I will post one more screenshot though showing a game just loaded. The character loaded over a building and couldn’t be moved from there, but I guess the load/save may not be fully implemented yet.
Ah, yes that is definitely a bug! And a new one i haven't seen before. Are you loading the auto-save or is this from a save slot you manually saved? This might help me track down the problem...
Good luck with the game moving forward. The western theme for an RPG is really refreshing and the art and sprites are great! Looking forward to try it in a next iteration when I'll have more time.
