Better point out that you can hold down the A button instead of rapidly pressing it, for a more relaxing control.

My mate beat the game on his first day and I'm wondering if the game is too easy, Toon Shooters took about 5 days for an average player to beat. Please let us know which stages you get stuck on, this would really help us to shape the difficulty.

Hope you guys enjoy the game, unlike the shmup, the brawler genre is much harder to come up with good gameplay and variety but we gave it our best shot.

Great game. Just beaten stage 5. The controls feel very foreign at first but after playing for roughly an hour I'm slowly getting used to it with the sensitivity tuned between low and medium. The coin loots feel just right, I'm able to collect around 300-600 per round in earlier stages, some grinding is expected since it's a free game. The difficulty is rather steep, level 1-4 feels very easy then once you reach level 5 I could barely last half the round, I feel that the levels still need more tuning, a more gradual difficulty.

What I would love to see in the future is an item shop. A shared loot system between all the team members. An evade/dodge skill (roll & jump), A block button that reduces damage.
Game centre integration with achievements to Unlock. As for IAP, can't imagine who would be willing to pay $40 for consumables, I wouldn't mind paying for new content be it premium characters, new maps, new arena, etc... A coin doubler perhaps.

Edit: Another comment about the in game music. I love the epic music however they're clearly of low quality, filled with cracking noises (low bit rate audio).

Wow just played the first few levels (just beat skeletor ;)) and I'm loving this.
Feels like a nod towards everything I grew up with.
The whole thing feels like its been modelled around golden axe with little nods towards other stuff thrown in.
    Congrats devs this is brilliant.

    Great wasted potential!

Fun lil game but don't kill it with freemium. I already feel turned off to it as I feel like I must buy money to upgrade. The collection of coins in game is was too slow and Grindy.

I would have preferred to pay for this game, you should have made the money alot less Grindy and given IAP for new characters, mega weapons and extra endless levels.

As it is I feel you have created a great game but wasted all its potential by cheapening the experience through the current IAP.

On the controls, I way prefer them to dpad, you have done a great job there, it controls just like mage gauntlets pro mode.

Last note, you should make a shop and the character upgrade/loot screen should be accessible without havin to start a level and then doing it through the pause menu.

The only thing i can say bad about this is that it's slightly easy but I like that in a touch screen game. Currently I'm up to scars keep and haven't died yet:eek:
Love the game though. Best scrolling beat em up style game I've played in ages.

@wigzisonfire - the early stages are short, have fewer enemies and appear to give very little earnings but as you reach later stages your rate of earning improves. We are gamers too and try to make games that are fun, challenging, skillful and not too much grind or repetitive content. A few colleagues beat the game without spending a cent and voiced concerns that the game is too generous and easy. We are still observing and gathering feedback, your points raised are useful for an upcoming update with better balancing.

@pixel_gamer we did infact think about some other moves and controls such as jumping, holding the B button to block or a charge attack.

also thanks Zanuku and ZebraHouse for taking the time to make gameplay trailers for both Frank and Julius.

    My thoughts exactly!

To be honest, I grabbed this expecting to delete it within 5 minutes but two hours later and I'm still playing.

The only thing that's wrong with this game is the little white dot under your player. Please give us an option to turn it off.

I'm having a blast with Maximus. The freemium push is a slight impedement so far but still very worth it. The seems like the best arcade sidescroller on iOS I've played in a long time.

I kind of like the slot machine.

Really liking the game so far! Reminds me of Golden Axe from the good old days! Limited continues kinda sucks (would prefer to be able to earn more) but everything else rocks!

I really want iCloud, and I'm gonna pray for more updates. Wish this was paid also with a possible coin doubler balance.

    Playing iOS games, duh.

When are developers going to make it so the true gamers like us can turn the Freemium game into Premium by being able to pay for it outright? Two versions within one game. Release it as Freemium so it gets to the masses, then if you want to actually OWN the game, you pay a one time IAP to get rid of all this nonsense. Simple. So, go ahead and make that happen now. Thank you, Drive Thru.
