I love Max Payne, but I haven't had the chance to play the first, only the second. I'm happy to see this on ios as Max Payne 3 is definitely one of my most anticipated games of the year.
I guess you and me must've subscribed to different gaming mags at the time. In any case, by all means enjoy.
Speaking of Australia, I'm confused about the app availability times. I thought Australia was a 2 hours behind New Zealand, so the app should be in the Australian store by now?
I think Rockstar themselves would consider asking $10 for what is (all else aside) a pretty straightforward port of a decade-old game that has already earned its keep and then some to be taking the piss just a tad, even though the game is worth it. MP will almost certainly do well at this price point, and its presence can certainly only help Rockstar's sphere of influence in iOSland. The next problem is whether or not current devices could handle their more recent games... Vice City's turn next, then.
Vice City would be great. San Andreas sublime (but something tells me we probably won't get to see it for the current iOS platforms)...
Thats the way i think, i bought GTA3 instantly and didnt wait for any sale, i'll do the same for Max Payne. I mean i want these two games anyway but i didnt want to wait for a sale, the more sales/revenue Rockstar make they'll want to release more and more games. If we all wait for a 99c sale or for the game to be free then i cant see future releases happening. Hope Max Payne does well and then we'll get another Rockstar game for sure at some point
At the rate Rockstar is going with these awesome ports, something tells me that we may see Bully on iOS next. Manhunt would be awesome too. And Midnight Club 1 or 2
Price is right, but I hope it plays well. I wasn't that thrilled with how GTA3 translated to a touch screen.
I bought this on PC when it first came out, and recall that it looked better on my PC running 1024X768p. Wouldn't surprise me if they've used the textures from the PS version. http://www.ingamemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/max-1024x768.jpg
It might be an old game but it's pretty great compared to what else is on the appstore... Good luck finding another third person shooter on the appstore that has a single player that lasts 15 hours...
It's a little telling (but not really too surprising) that right now the best examples of most of the more complex games are still ports of existing ones from other systems, not iOS-native titles. The best board and card games are based on physical ones, the best RPGs come from elsewhere, the best action games also, and so forth. iOS can probably only claim puzzle games, and even then that's debatable.
