They dont look the same, ios version looks sharp the pc one looks worse, there are some things missing from the ios version but as a whole, i feel like its the same experience. As for the performance, it runs smooth on the 4s (a few jittery moments) so you probably need to upgrade.
are you judging by the screenshot? that depends entirely on the resolution you set on your PC, there is no way it will look better on the iOS than on the PC and no, if it runs smoothly on a Acer aspire one, it should run as good on at least a 4th gen itouch, it should not be a performance issue. there are bigger and better looking games that run silky smooth on my device, so no, i probably don't need to update just yet.
There are unlockable modes: New York Minute with timed levels, and Dead on Arrival, which allows only 7 saves. But otherwise, no -- this is an 11 year old game, and back them they really didn't do any of that nonesense. That said, there are PC mods that may or may not work with this version. I'd imagine that the melee attack ones wouldn't work, but perhaps some of the cosmetics ones would. Finally beat it a few minutes ago. Definitely scratched my Max Payne itch, though I may play it again soon at the higher difficulty rating.
^ id like to see that too, plus it would enhance the performance a lot i know i'm being to bitchy about this, but i just played that game with absolutely no auto-aim, and it truly shows the flaws on the aiming system....
To anyone saying there are no performance issues, wait until you get to the last chapters. Choppy mess in some parts (iPad 2).
Not on my iPhone 4S. The only performance issue I had was in the furnace sequence. As had been mentioned already, you do have to clear your RAM every once in a while.
Yeah, I know that, and I did. Well, this time all I can say is that it was choppy to me. Definitely sub 30 for the entire time in some chapters.
Wow... Finally had a chance to get into this one... Max Payne was the very first game I got for my original XBOX, and just loved it. It's great being able to play this on my iPad. The customizable controls are great. And playing it brings back a ton of memories. I really hope Rockstar keeps porting their 'old-school' classics to the iDevice. Lovin it. =oD
believe it or not, this was the first time i died, so, what do you do then? i don't get anymore menus to load the last check point D:? wtf? is it just me? plus, i really don't get it, i was playing 9mm, MC3 and mass effect which look 10 times better, with more elements onscreen and NO LAG, but this one (which even so i like so much better) lags a lot on my itouch 4th.
There are no checkpoints. Scroll down in the menu to "Load" and load your last autosave... which is the beginning of the level you're on.
might wanna just get use to that... 4th gen touch is pretty... Well... Not the device you want to have if you want to play newer games.
No but i mean, when i die, theres no way to open the menu again to load my last save false, my device is more than capable of running any game, proof of that is that it runs mc3, 9mm, IB2, shadowgun etc.. Heavier games than MP, With no lag, the fact that max payne lags, is a proof of poor programming.
That's happened to me too. Seems to be a bug. You just have to restart the app and load your last saved game. That said, I am in the group that is seriously enjoying the trip down memory lane that this app provides. I'm playing it on an iPhone 3GS, and it has chopped in parts but is totally playable. And once I moved all the buttons to the sides of the screen and turned on tap to shoot, it controls very well for my taste. Oh, and hard auto aim is a must, at least for me, and not because I suck. I already beat the game on the PC when it first came out with no aim assist.
If we really want Game Center for GTA III and Max Payne,we all should send them request via their customer service.I already sent them stating my desire for Game Center. Umm... Ok. Not bashing. I own a 4th gen touch... But it has half the ram of the iPhone 4, and because of the retina screen, games play better on the 3GS. But I have had LOADS of newer iOS games crash and lag because of the poor 4th gen hardware. But max Payne plays fine on my device, not-jailbroken, running iOS 5.1... Just had to make sure I did a hard reset after clearing my multitasking bar, and it ran smooth the 2 times I played it on my 4th gen. Decided to move over to my iPad, because it's a game better played on a little bigger screen (IMO, of course).
