1) It's not another shitty FPS MW2/Halo wannabe. 2) It has a ridiculous amount of stuff to do, and endless ways to do it. 3) It's not another sequel that's may or may not be as good as the original, but will still bring more of the same with a few new twists. 4) It's made by Rockstar games, same people that gave us the critically acclaimed GTA IV, San Andreas, Max Payne, and Bully. This is guaranteed to be amazing. 5) Reviews that've gotten their hands on it thinks it great. All of the games you mentioned are sequels. Half of them are FPSs, and all of them are sequels. All in genres that've been done to death. When was the last time a Western game looked this good? Besides, Lost Planet 2 got a 6/10. Who'd wanna play that?
Ok, so after reading through this thread, I think it seems to be a good place to ask about purchases. I just finished Mass Effect 2 for the third time, and I highly recommend it to anybody with a good PC or a 360. But now that I'm done and school's almost out, I want a new game. I've got it down to Borderlands and Fallout 3. Fallout 3 seems more similar to ME2, but maybe too similar considering I just finished ME2 again. And Borderlands looks fun, but I might be getting it a little too late to hop in the multiplayer crowd right away. Any suggestions?
well if your looking at that short of game, Red Dead Redemption is your answer. But it is almost out, and therefore it will be $60 at the start. The other games you listed you could find used and maybe buy them both for the price of a new game.
Neither Fallout 3 or Borderlands are anything like ME2, but Fallout 3 is closest. Borderlands is more of an FPS with RPG qualities, while Fallout 3 is RPG with FPS qualities... and insanely awesome. I've finished both games, but Fallout is the only one I could honestly say I loved.
Yeah, I'm definetly interested in this game too... Crap. More money to spend. And as for the other ones, I like them. Skate 3, I've only played the demo, but I've been playing that and the first game A LOT lately. My friend got Lost Planet 2 and said that it was great, and I really enjoyed the co-op demo. Halo: Reach, obviously is going to be great, especially after playing the beta. And as for Black Ops, I've been a long time Call of Duty fan, and I've enjoyed every game, even 3, so I'm sure I'll really enjoy it. Dead Rising 2 adds and fixes what I didn't like about the first. Simply put, I think I'll enjoy them all.
As everyone else is stating, this year looks amazing video games wise. Now, would something like GameFly actually be more of a deal then presay, buying everygame? I knonw some i must buy, like RDR, HR, and LBP 2, but the rest well, i could play, beat, NEXT Is gamefly actually worth it...or no?
I looked into it, and I really just never got into the Grand Theft Auto series. I won't be getting a game for a few more weeks, so maybe I'll see some reviews and decide then. Thanks, I'll probably get both before the end of summer, but for some reason Borderlands has caught my attention more. Maybe I'm just more for the FPS with RPG. That's what I liked about ME2, it was action packed like a shooter, but with just enough RPG to enjoy.
Well pretty much all of the RPG stuff in Borderlands is stat-based. The story is almost non-existent so it's more like an MMO really, grinding until you level up enough to take on a harder quest. It's decent, but without co-op I would have got bored a lot faster. Fallout on the other hand has an awesomely deep story with dozens of side stories to boot. You can go full FPS if you like, but using VATS is awesome fun anyway.
It seems like a great idea on paper, but in the long run, not really. My experience wasn't the greatest. Adding stuff to your queue is just like Netflix, easy and fast. The problem is that since we're talking about games and not movies, it costs GameFly a lot more to buy compared to movies, which means they'll be getting less games, and won't have enough to supply the demand. And unlike movies, these games will be obsolete in a few years, so they usually their amount of games low compared to the demand. Meaning that if you put a new and popular game in your queue today, like say Skate 3, you won't see it for a maybe a month or two until people finally get around to returning it. The only way around this is putting it in your queue 3-4 months before release, where you might as well pre-order it if you want it that badly. And depending on the plan you get, if you keep the games long enough, you're better off just buying them then renting them. If you want to just try games out before making sure you want to buy them, go to Blockbuster and rent one for 5 days.
OR buy from gamestop try for under a week and bring it back to probably get almost full credit. not sure if it would work though
You get seven days to bring it back to gamestop for your money back, but that's only for used games. If it's a newly released game then you'll have to wait for them to actually get any used copies in. On new games, if the plastic is broken you can't return it for your money back and if your plan is to sell it back to them, then that's a lousy plan. You won't get anywhere near what you payed, it's what Gamestop WANTS you to do.
yeah, it sounds good though. i mean i wont be able to find anywhere else to sell it so why not? Splinter Cell for example. i think its like maybe 2 weeks old or so? Well, my brother beat it, and I hate it. I really don't see any urge to keep playing it, as the multiplayer gets old, and the story is a set plot. The two things holding me back from selling it are: My brother doesn't want me to, but i really dont care...he beat it already and also, the money i get back from it. I have like $45. i need like $60 to buy RDR. So, if I sell it on Tuesday, will I get like $15 for it?
I do think you'd get at least 15 bucks for it, seeing as it's fairly new. But still....15 bucks for a 60 dollar game? Gamestop will sell it for 54 dollars or so and probably give you less than half of that. Makes my stomach hurt... Don't suppose you have an Ebay account? You'd be able to get a lot more of your money back there.
well theres that option and amazon...but i have to see how many others are selling it and for how much. How much do you think Gamestop will give me for it?
I remember being desperate for some quick money around the time God of War 2 came out and I resorted to Gamestop. So I beat the game the day I got it and sold it the next. My memory is a bit off since it was awhile ago, but I payed 49.99 at launch and I got back around 20-25 bucks back. Of course I could be off, but I'm sure it wasn't more. If anything it could've been less...
well thats not bad...i dont really feel like jumping through hoops just to sell the game...i just want to get rid of it

I know it's a little ADD of me to jump onto the bandwagon of another game when I'm already super hyped up about the one coming out tomorrow and Halo Reach, but I just played the Split/Second demo and it is fantastic. Nothing like Blur. It plays and looks great. I won't pick it up now, but when this and Just Cause 2's prices are knocked down a bit, I'm snatching them both up.
Ok, so after a few days of thinking, I think I'm gonna get Fallout 3. If I don't get Game of the Year Edition I'll also get Borderlands. But, is Fallout 3 GotY worth it, or should I just save $20 and get the original and the best of the two DLC's? If GotY is still better, I'll get it instead of Borderlands. In the end I'll probably get both within the next two months, but I'd rather be able to get both than just one. And RDR looks cool and all, but I never really enjoyed the GTA series, so I'll probably pass until there is a price drop.
Would Gears of War 2 be worth getting considering Gears 3 is less than a year away (April 2011)? There's a copy on eBay that's $13.50 that I'm considering...
