I don't know why, but I prefer FFVII a bit more. Then again, I havn't played much of FFVIII, but what I have played, I prefer FFVII a bit more. Maybe I just like the plotline of the FFVII series a bit more, considering I've played both Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus until almost the end, and really enjoyed the stories in both quite a bit. I'd much prefer to have FFVII though. Agreed. I'm still mad that MGS4 never came out for the 360, even though 2 also came out for the Xbox as well as the PS2. It's still a really stupid decision on Kojima/Konami's part, and I'd still be overly excited if they announced a port of MGS4 to the 360. Ah well, I guess Peace Walker and Rising will have to do. And the way I see it, Peace Walker is more like MGS3.5 than MGS5, since it follows up the story of Big Boss rather than Solid Snake.
There is a MASSIVE sale on Steam right now, tons of things are on sale. If you're looking to get some good games, I guess now's probably a good time.
Beat me to the punch Plus there's really good deals that are only good for 24 hrs that start at 1pm est everyday.
Anyone that hasn't played Portal yet (Steam, Xbox, PS3) get the Orange Box or download it off XBLA. I put off the last 4 levels until last night... I love this game. Can't wait for the sequel.
Does anyone know if people still play Virtua Fighter 5 on Xbox Live? I might pick it up when I get my Xbox back since I need a good online fighter (Soulcalibur IV lags too much). If not, do you still think it's worth getting? I have Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution for the PS2, and it's still the best fighting game I've ever played. Also, what's the best arcade joystick for the PS2 that I could get for a reasonable price (Somewhere in the $30 range, or less if possible). I prefer something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002B81RH4/sr=8-1/qid=1277574429/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1277574429&sr=8-1&seller=
Ok: My big question: I have been DYING to play Symphony of the Night lately, and for several reasons, the PSP would be my best console to get it for. But, I've also been wanting to get Final Fantasy VII (please don't recommend VIII, I'd much prefer VII right now). That said, I have the PS1 discs, which I want to sit down and play soon, but I feel like if it was on my PSP, I'd end up playing it more, making it worth the money. Therefore, my big debate is whether to get Symphony of the Night or Final Fantasy VII on the PSN Store. Take into account: - I already have a copy of FFVII, but not of Symphony of the Night - SOTN has a much smaller filesize, allowing me to keep both that and Resident Evil 2 on the same memory stick, which I couldn't do with FFVII - Both are the same price
Tough choice. SotN and FFVII are probably my two favourite PSX games evaaar. They both look awesome on the PSP and something is telling me to recommend SotN first... not sure why. Perhaps it's because the movement in the 3D areas of FFVII is slightly funky with the PSP's d-pad while SotN is obviously 2D so it's not an issue. But you get a lot more hours with FFVII... ...damn it, I don't know. I could have this debate with myself all night. I've been playing them both on the PSP recently and they rule.
Oh, and about the "looking awesome on PSP" thing. I find it amusing that PSOne Classics actually look better than ever before on the PSP. I really wasn't expecting that. Played on a PSX they looked good, but old tube SD TVs really weren't anything special, played on a PS3 they look nice enough but everything is upscaled so the pixels are seriously obvious, but on the PSP... native resolution, superior screen to tube television, not so big you cut yourself on the edges... it's badass. That was slightly off topic, I just had to get it out 'cause it impresses me.
You make both games sound so convincing... I think I'll go with SOTN since I have FFVII for my PS1 already, but I just figured it'd be easier to get around to playing on my PSP (which is mostly why I bought Resident Evil 2 as well). But considering I don't have SOTN, I've made my decision. Agreed. I've played Resident Evil 2 on almost every screen I have: My laptop, my tube TV through my N64 (I actually went ahead and got an N64 cartridge of the game online a year or so ago), and even on my iPod, but out of all of them, by far, it looked the best on my PSP. Like you said, it looked really crisp and sharp, and it wasn't pixelated from being expanded to fit a large screen, yet the PSP's relatively large screen for portable consoles makes it look awesome and feel comfortable. It looks much better on the PSP than the version of the original Resident Evil I have for the DS (which I picked up on vacation one year... I wanted it that badly and couldn't find it locally), even though that version has some slightly updated graphics. I can't explain why, but it just looks so much better.
Any good turn based RPG's for the PSP? I have Final Fantasy I/II and got Crimson Gem Saga for the iPhone today, so are there any other RPG's worth getting? I'm going on vacation soon and need some good games for the road. And any other good recommendations for DS/PSP games would be great. I'll probably be picking up Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, and have about $60 total to spend.
Are there any people who like Roguelikes/Dungeon Crawlers out there? I'm looking for a game that is as simple and fast as 100 Rogues or Desktop Dungeons. The amount of crazy detail and complexity in traditional Roguelikes has always baffled me.
If you're looking for one on the iPhone, Fargoal is the only roguelike I've ever been able to play. As for PC, I found a pretty fun one called Doom Roguelike which I found pretty enjoyable, even though it was all in ASCII.
Both Phantasy Stars for the PSP and DS. Phantasy Star Portable (PSP) and Phantasy Star Zero (DS). Both amazing games for Action RPG's. I can't get enough of them. Then again I have been big on the Phantasy Star series for many many many years.
I've actually never played Phantasy Star for some reason... I've heard of it plenty of times before, but just never got the chance to give it a shot. And I'm also probably going to get Final Fantasy IV for DS if it's a reasonable price. If I'm right, that should be about $20-$30 total, leaving me with another $30-40. Any others?
If I'm lucky I'll be going to Gamestop again tonight before going on vacation tomorrow morning. After picking up SoulCalibur Broken Destiny and Custom Robo Arena, I'm left with $30. I think I'm going to try another local Gamestop to see if they either have Final Fantasy IV or Justice for All since the one I went to only had Final Fantasy III (which became way too tedious) and Trials and Tribulations (can't play them out of order). Any other good games (RPG's in particular, although I think after getting CGS I'll be set for a few days) I should look out for on PSP, DS or GBA (I'm hoping they'll have Sword of Mana since I lost my cartridge halfway through the game )
Hey, well I just got a little bit of birthday money recently and im starting to get annoyed with just playing games where youre killing things cuz for me its just starting to get old. Anyway, I have the original skate. and i really liked it when i first got it, but now its gotten a bit boring. so i downloaded the skate 3 demo and i really enjoyed playin it. so my question is this: should i buy skate 2 or skate 3. keep in mind the price for skate 2 is cheaper but i really am not worried about price that much. and a small question is: does skate 2 have the multiple camera views like skate 3? thank you to whoever helps me out.
I've only played the demos of both, but my vote goes to Skate 3 just because you can beat the crap out of random pedestrians and unlock a hidden zombie mode where all pedestrians turn into zombies. If that's not enough to justify the price, I don't know what is. And if you're looking for a good game aside from the typical action game, I suggest taking a look at either Tony Hawk's American Wasteland for the 360 (the last good Tony Hawk game) and Lost Odyssey, which turned out to be a really fun RPG. Now for my question: If I get money, I'm seriously tempted to get the Zombie EP, but I just found a bunch of PS2 games I've been wanting for a while, all of them being light gun games aside from Devil Kings. Which should I get?
