Any suggestions on a good town builder? It seems Dragonvale is probably the most popular one but it didn't really appeal to me. I'm trying out Tiny Village right now and its okay.
Reckless Racing 2, Lego Harry Potter, Edo Towns, and Homerun Battle 2 are currently all $0.99. Charadium II, Soul Tamer KiKi, and Pawn'd are free. Check out these awesome sales. All of them are well worth downloading.
Yeah. Heard the puzzles are mediocre and it's short. For .99 I'd definitely go, but I got like 9-8$ left so...
You heard the puzzles are mediocre? Compared to what? they're definitely a bit more challenging then the average iOS title. And even if you consider them to be easy-which they sure as heck aren't IMO- they're engaging, thoughtful, and have purpose. I haven't beaten it yet due to trying to play all the releases, but it's definitely worth the $2 price easily. If Lumi was worth its price--it was plus more-- then this sure as hell is. It's a quality experience. Edit I just looked at the AppStore reviews and they're mixed. I guess it depends on what you consider worth your money. The game is absolutely gorgeous, plus the music and sound effects are outstanding. Everything you click on has a thoughtful note or message that pulls you into the world of Lume. The production vales are through the roof. It seems as if ppl think it's hard. Well, if it's hard, that increases the gameplay time. It's mostly based on how well/quickly you can decipher everything in the game. I highly recommend it! Here's a small review vid i found on youtube. I pretty much agree with it.
Wait not mediocre, obscure, hopelessly obscure. http://www.gamezebo.com/games/lume/review Not many areas and short and with rating of 3 stars, yeah, kind of drove me off.
The obscurity/vagueness is how the game is meant to be played. It's not supposed to be easy because it's an exploration game. You have to figure out what you're doing. I admit it took some serious investigating and bits of frustration to figure some of the puzzles I've done, but I've enjoyed the overall experience and really appreciate the challenge. Also, you can't base your purchase off of one review, especially one that's for PC/Mac. It also wasn't a bad review. This is why I hate ratings systems. Hmm...$2 for an hour or two (shorter or longer for some ppl) experience that's pretty grand. Like I said...
some more reviews that drove me off: http://applenapps.com/review/lume-let-there-be-light-to-the-beauty-challenge http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Lume/review.asp?c=38181
How did the Pocketgamer one turn you off? It gave the game a 7 and the bronze medal award. Yes, the game might be short but look at the experience you're getting. the time will also vary depending on how well you can figure stuff out. Quoted some stuff from the PG review It seems like the good definitely outweighs the bad IMHO. *I respect the Applenapps review but i don't agree with the verdict. Easy puzzles aren't fun at all. Is this one too hard for some people? Maybe... IMO, based off of their review, it should at least be 50/50 and not the 2/5 that they gave. How do you give the game a positive check mark for being extremely challenging and then give it a 1.5 for being frustrating!? Review ratings suck IMHO.
Oh man... now the pressure is on me! I think you'll definitely enjoy it. The only miff IMO would be the difficulty. However, once you figure something out, it feels awesome just like PG said. Also, if you get really stuck you can just ask. Last thing, make sure you pay attention to everything and read in between the lines, so to speak. Let me know how you like it as soon as you get a chance to put some time into it!
I've been enjoying the pocket Ticket to Ride and War on Terrora lot recently, and i've been wondering if there are any similar boardgame type of games. Something that's very simple, straightforward and without any complicated gameplay rules [when playing so many different games, it gets a little hard to remember every little thing, and I dont like going through the rules everytime I play a quick game]
Hi I'm looking for some games with an extensive upgrade system so you keep playing to upgrade your units/items/stats. The game could be pretty much any genre except endless games (such as endless runner or endless shooter like minigore, really dislike those) or RPG (already have lots of those like Zenonia). For example it can be horizontal defense (Paladog, Armageddon, Crystal War, etc), tower defense (Elf Defense, Sentinel - however the upgrades must be permanent as any tower defense game can upgrade its towers in each level), shooting (Astrowings), horizontal shooter (Zombieville, Colisseum, etc), time management and others. It can be free(mium) or paid, doesn't matter, I ran out of these kinds of games to play. Games I've played: - Paladog - Ancient Tribes - Armageddon - Crystal War - Elf Defense - Sentinel - Astrowings - Zombieville - Colisseum - Kairosoft games - Infinity Blade - Epoch - Space Frontier - PvZ - Heavy Mach - Isotope - Braveheart - Sad Princess - Supermarket Mania 1/2 - Plunderland
I already played Infinity Blade, and pretty much most other very popular games, sorry forgot to add to list.
I would say Battleheart, at least 10 different character classes to level up, more if you like to battle with multiples of the same class. Once you have your ideal battle group you can head over to the arena and try to get the best weapons/ armor.
I know you mentioned you were not interested in another jRPG but unless you have finished Crimsonheart, you should really check it out!
Old PC port..Tyrian.. Vertical shmup with a ton of upgrades and secrets. Its 1.99 on iOS..but the PC version is free if you want to try it first.
A few unusual ones that i didn't see on your list: Beat Hazard - Dual Stick shooter with a lot of unlockables/powerups and achievements Kingdom Solitaire - Fantastic Solitaire app with tons of unlockables and a system similar to leveling. The only downside is that once you unlock everything (10 hours tops), there's not much incentive to keep playing. Slingo Supreme - Same devs as Kingdom Solitaire, but a more luck based variation on Bingo combined with slots. Terracore Adventures - A mining game where you mine deeper and deeper, selling ores to upgrade your equipment over time. Defender Chronicles - A tower defense game where you have a hero who levels up/gains XP every battle. A warning on this: the leveling curve is very steep and grindy, and the difficulty is tough which makes it worse. I got bored of it after awhile. Dungeon Raid and Puzzle Quest are obvious ones you probably already have. Final Fantasy Tactics also. Pet Shop Girl - a very underappreciated match-3 with powerups/upgrades that last into future levels. It has an interesting blend with time management.
