Just a few. Some of these require both players to be sitting around the iPad.

This would be a good feature for some of the async games like Hero Academy to add.

Guess I'll have to get Ant Raid cause I loved Anthill. So if they are similar I'm in. Also thinking about Greed Corp since its on sale. I have a lot of other TBS games that I haven't finished though (GLWG, Ravenmark, and Wesnoth).

I think I was a little harsh with my first impressions of OEG so here's a few more details. Your getting into a run of the mill runner in gameplay terms. You run, you jump, you shoot. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But you do get an actual story mode, the story is supposed to be a typical video game affair but with some humor and lightheartedness. The story mode levels give you a set objective and change each level. Travel this far, kill this many enemies, reach this distance without killing any enemies, etc. there is also a separate mode where you tackle these challenges with the goal numbers being larger. There is also free run mode that is your basic high score endless running mode. No Gamecenter only crystal. But plenty of achievements. Not sure why Chillingo wouldn't use GC. My complaints are that in terms of gameplay there is nothing new here. Also, sometimes platforms will be the kind that gradually drop away from the screen and sometimes this is done on a long platform and without the ability to double jump I am simply doomed. Lastly, the reach X meters without killing anyone missions just suck. I mean the game is about shooting stuff, but mostly it's annoying because everything is random so random enemies will pop up in places that are unavoidable.

Conclusion, OEG is a decent runner especially if you want a runner with a story mode, but in terms of fun factor it can't compete with the likes of JJ, Temple Run, and Darkness Rush.

Thanks for the vid, I think I'm gonna try it out... although it looks like an endless runner I think its actually more of a platformer physics puzzler... For example the screen stops when he dogs get to any section when they're not walking etc... Can u confirm this?

Darth Ronfar - The game is level-based, so unlike a lot of endless runners, there are more 'platform game' elements at work. However, the screen does automatically scroll, so there's still a pressure to think/act fast. The screen never completely stops scrolling but it does drastically slow when you are in certain situations i.e. hanging from tires. The vid should give you a good idea of how much it slows in these situations.

TBH, a fusion of 'traditional platformer' and 'endless runner' is not a bad way to describe the game. Obviously there's also the physics element in there too, as Mick & Ralph are controlled with a ping mechanic rather than tapping to jump.

    Hope that helps.

Multiponk (Was Multipong before Atari flipped a lid) - 99 cent sale going on till tomorrow.

Yay or nay? Not sure, cause it looks like a fun multiplayer game, but it doesn't sound like a strong solo-play game.

If you are playing solely for single player, then no, it's definitely not strong in that department.

If it's for multiplayer, it is fairly competent. It's nothing terribly exciting, but there can be fun upsets and the like. 4 player is definitely the most fun, so if you have 4 people, I'd say it's worth the money.

Or you could go the patient way, since I believe it's gone free before, so...

Yeah, TA gave it 2.5 stars. Think I'll pass on it. Seems extremely mediocre in comparison to other recent runners.

So is "Meanwhile for iOS" any good...?
Or is this geared more for young children?

Well, I consider the three most beautiful platformers to currently be Paper Monsters, Jazz: Trump's Journey, and Lumi.

    PM is your typical run'n'jump

Jazz is a run'n'jump but with a huge focus on puzzle platforming. However, I wouldn't consider it to strictly a puzzle platformer.

Lumi is the epitome of an atmospheric experience.

All three have great gameplay IMHO!

Yeah, I played Lumi a bit before Jazz came out, ans I played all the way through pretty quickly. To me it's the better version of Nyko due to it's somewhat simplistic nature.

Have you beaten Jazz yet? I haven't, but I've enjoyed the heck out of it so far!

I just got Blot and it's probably my favorite runner as of right now. I'm sickly addicted to the game. All other games have been put on hold. I brought it up because it's another work of art, and I thought you might like it since you enjoyed the artistic feel of Jazz and Lumi. It is an endless runner though!

Dude, they're releasing an update to MC3 which should fix lots of bugs and remove hackers(although they'll get back later anyway). It's amazing and when you get better, you can pwn hackers easily. :) Get it after the update hits which should hit anytime from this moment to the weekend! http://forum.gameloft.com/index.php/topic,43799.0.html

Just got mini motor on sale, and it is my favorite top down racer by far. Going to delete mad wheels for this one.

Also since you guys are talkin about platformers, I would put Lumi way up there just below sooxis in adventure platformers. Beats out PM for me, and I played it through all the way and was really impressed. But it is a pretty short game as well, but I actually prefer it that way. A short but incredibly polished and well-done experience beats a long but okay one.

    Edit:
Also on a separate note, just downloaded launch center and it is seriously a neat app if you take the time to set it up.

You mean Soosiz? Hmm, AppShopper says I own both versions of that so maybe I need to get it on my device. Lumi is on my wish list in case it goes on sale before I finish or get bored of Soosiz.
Speaking of platformers, have you played Spy Corp? I really like that game.

So Launch Center? Is that really easier than just opening the native app? You know, if I want to text someone, I'll open the text app, scroll down to our existing conversation, and reply there. Same for calling someone. I also have a flashlight app. Am I missing out by doing things manually, because I'm all for shortcuts! Except in Disc Drivin' where I suck at jumping unlike someone else who may or may not be quoted in this thread. :)

Yeah if you get done with soosiz and enjoy it, lumi would be great buy too. Although, I could never beat the last boss of soosiz (actually, I could never even get to him, the platforms to him were nearly impossible to get through). My 2 favorite adventure platformers by far

Launch center is really up to you. For instance, yes it is much easier to respond to a text straight from the app or notification, it is easier to respond to calls or make calls if a contact is in your favorite, and it is easier to respond to emails. So it is no use if you are responding, but if you are sending or contacting it becomes useful, and infinitely more so if you need to schedule something. For instance, I need to email someone every Wed at 5, so I set up the notification to repeat every Wed at 5 and I just hit that notification and type. Also the original reason I bought it was that it has a flashlight, so after seeing mixed reviews I bought it anyway since it would at the very least replace my flashlight app, and could potentially do so much more. But the best part is that you can link apps to it as well. I have been able to move a bunch of apps on my homescreen or in folders to the last page now (in a folder titled laucnh center), and have them liked in launch center on my dock. Most of these apps are productivity ones such as instapaper, read it later, jot not, shopkicks, textgrabber, etc), no games. So its great for apps you do not use often, but might need at easy access. Its a little tricky to set up the apps, but if you google custom ios app urls there should be instructions. And the app itself has some urls linked as well. I think it is well worth it since I can schedule emails and call, and I can also free up a lot of screen space.

Edit: to answer your original questions, no it is not useful for a text shortcut, but it is for the other stuff I said.
