Looking for some game recommendations Hey guys, I need some recommendations on some games to get for my iPod touch. I already have quite a few games and several that I really enjoy. Here are some of my favorites so far. Mage Gauntlet Monsters Ate My Condo Terra Noctis Shantae: Risky's Revenge Muffin Knight (I'm considering checking out the iOS version of SCB seeing as how I really like the PC version, but I've heard mixed things about the controls, so I'm kind of on the fence at the moment.) Bike Baron Scribblenauts Remix Groove Coaster Sonic and Sega All Star Racing (really like this on consoles as well, but this a really good portable version) Edge Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP Alien Hominid: PDA Games Game Dev Story So, based upon those games what would you recommend I check out? I enjoy pretty much all kinds of games with the exception of non-arcade Sports games. (I really like NBA Jam and old NFL Blitz, for instance. I'm also considering getting the iOS version of NBA Jam, but I'm not too sure about the controls.) Thanks in advance!
I'm interested in Red Conquest, Starfront Collision and LASW now... What's LASW btw? Also, when I opened Red Conquest I saw that the developer made Fastar game too, is it good? By the way, I don't like the type of TD RTS and basically only ones I like from those Tower building games is Gem Keeper... And Red Conquest looks like a mess, how does it play?
LASW is Land air sea warfare. If you don't like TD games the I'd suggest getting checking out some sidescroller RTS games. I mentioned quite a few a page or two back. . Personally, I think that you would like them more than something like Red Conquest. However, I gave Red Conquest another shot last night and I'm enjoying it so far.
Hello TA gamers. I am a fan of space games not the acrade ones but rather sims, 4x, strategy. I already have Galaxy on Fire 2, Galatic Phantasy (formerly Galaxy Pirate Adventure), Ascendancy. Any more you guys could recommend?
If you're not adept/familiar with RTS games already, I'd stay away from Red Conquest. It plays incredibly well because it was made with the iOS in mind, and does not try to mirror a console game like the other RTS games on the AppStore. It also has the most depth in terms of strategy and the best multiplayer if you have someone to play it with. You can control each unit so precisely it's incredible. The amount of unit micromanagement you can do in the game rivals RTS games on the PC, literally. Pretty basic resource management here, but it has an incredibly steep learning curve like I said. I'd go with Starfront if you're more of a casual strategy fan. Although it's supposed to be a clone of Starcraft, it's really not similar at all besides the theme. It plays more like Red Alert for the PC. Very minimal unit/resource management. Not too many different outcomes each game, even if you're playing online. Only a few strategies work, and everyone pretty much plays the same way. There are always people online to play with too. LASW is a great single-player game. Lots of different units/buildings. Focuses on warfare (battles) as the title suggests, but there's not much you can do in terms of unit micromanagement. Pretty basic resource management. Lots of possibilities so each game you play with the AI will be different. Wish it had multiplayer.
@backtothis I'd have to argue that there's a difference between complex and deep. Red Conquest is a very complex game, but something like King of Dragon Pass is very, very deep ( as far as development) and is also a complex TBS to boot. Maybe my tune will change as I delve deeper into RC, but I doubt. I will admit that it is a very nice RTS though.
That's not too young! The only games I played on the PC were RTS and MMORPGs from 5th to 9th grade, heh. Played mainly only RPGs on the PS2 as well during that same time period. Getting Starfront when it's on sale for $0.99 again will probably be your best choice. Yep, I agree. Complex is a much better word in this case.
Haha yeah...this is a very complex game. Gotta thank you for getting me to give it another shot, as it's a very good game albeit quite frustrating. Hopefully you can check out KoDP soon before all the new releases for this year really start to roll out because that game requires a decent level of commitment to it.
Yeah, I can't say I have that time at the moment sadly. Hopefully in the near future though. I actually had to play the "Advanced Tutorial" many times in Red Conquest to fully understand the controls. There's literally a way to do everything in terms of unit control. Leaving out the traditional aiming for units was a very smart design.
No problem! I set up everything for the next three month in a way that I could somewhat efficiently dedicate my time to iOS specific things I'm working on. I'm still trying to play catch up from last, but it seems like Thursday comes more quickly every week. For KoDP, it took me a while to read through the manual/instructions...mostly to remember all the stuff that was in it which is a lot. There are 21 chapters in the manual and each is pretty lengthy.
So Backtothis, you've made me curious about Red Conquest. Would it be worth it if I were playing 2x on iPad?
'Lord vs. Lord' is a great game to get. This RTS-Game was released last week. If you want it for free you can enter this giveaway until Wednesday: Youtube Giveaway Screenshot:
