So far I prefer Wayward Souls, the combat environments are larger and more continuous (versus BL which has segmented tiles but a more epic world map but it doesn't feel as immediate). Wayward Souls' battles feels more active in traditional ARPG button mash style while Battleheart Legacy is tap to move then tap to select enemies for a sort of auto-attack (the line drawing from Battleheart 1 felt more frantic, granted I'm still not far into BL). Battleheart Legacy does feel like it forces you to make more meaningful decisions. Also, there's no kidding yourself that you won't end up with both eventually and we know WS will increase in price while BL probably won't. I'm sure someone else will counter with a redeeming BL but for now I say WS (both are fun games so either way win win).
Looking for recommendations for some new, fun games. Looking for anything with pick-up-and-play, light RPG, puzzle and/or strategy elements. I'll try almost any genre, but I'm just looking for something fun.
Battleheart Legacy is the current no-brainer choice. Sounds like you've played through quite a few games though, so you probably hit all the popular targets. My deeper cuts (if you can call them that): Pick-up-and-play: Forget-Me-Not ($2, I'll simplify and call it Pac-Man with extreme depth) Light RPG: King Cashing 2 ($5, battles around a slot machine mechanic, but with a skill element involved) Puzzle: Dungeon Raid ($2, an oldie but the best match-3 out there, with rpg like upgrades and TONS of character options) Strategy: hoplite ($2, with roguelike upgrades unlocked by meeting a list of achievements)
I actually never got the first Battleheart and haven't tried the sequel yet either, although I do usually grab most of the TA-acclaimed games. I think I may be the only one, and I don't really have any excuse. Should I play the first before getting the sequel? My impression is that they're fairly different from each other. FMN and a Dungeon Raid are games that I hovered over the but button yesterday, and I don't have any good reason for backing off, so I'll definitely get those. I'll give the others a closer look, but I never really got what the deal was with KC2. I don't really like regular slot games so couldn't convince myself I'd like that one (although I didn't know there is a skill element). Thanks a lot for the detailed response.
No problem. The skill element in KC2 is the ability to stop each of the 3 reels individually. It's far from necessary for the 1st 3 chapters, but for the 2 chapters added since release, I'd say it's mandatory. So if quick reflexes/pattern watching isn't your thing then definitely skip it. I saw Connector mentioned Darkin. As far as content, it is Dungeon Raid ultra-lite, but it is still a quality game well worth 3 bucks. The gap between DR is narrowed quite a bit by the outstanding production values, especially the HD graphics. Go straight to the new Battleheart, very different in style. I prefer Bardbarian over Battleheart 1 for that type of game. If hoplite isn't your thing, then I recommend the streamlined RTS of Rymdkapsel. I usually avoid RTS games, but I got a lot of enjoyment out of trying this one. Then again, I'm the type who is able and likes dropping $10-20 a week on the store, even if it's just to try well-received games from genres that don't appeal to me.
I second this. The best one to me has been Sports Jeapordy!, but the multiplayer is lacking because you can't turn off multiple-choice mode for multiplayer.
Any puzzle or word games that will work without any internet access? My mum bought an iPad mini (1st gen) this week and I want to put some games on for her but when she takes it home, she has no net. She loves all types of puzzle and word games, any suggestions would be great, thanks. (Not those games that you play 2-3 levels and then it demands to connect)
Trying to remember this free FPS with a control scheme of tap on the ground to move, and tap with two fingers to shoot. Freemium, arena, searching for parts for guns, etc...
