So you don't want any platformers or racing games, but you want strategy/TD/RPGs/action/adventure??? I'm not a 100% sue because there's no period or comma.
Okay...I made the list short, but I definitely could've made it a lot longer so... Anyways, I went in order of genre and not how much I like the game. Desert Zombie Last Stand Sleepy Jack King of Dragon Pass The Bard's Tale Mage Gauntlet Dangerous Aurum Blade Dofus Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion Starbase Orion Anomaly: Warzone Earth Great Little War Game Supremacy Wars Modern Conflict 1 and 2 Plants vs Zombies Battle for Wesnoth Th Adventures of Tintin Sovereign: Premium Secret of Grisly Manor Glowfish Hector: Badge of Carnage - Episode 2: Senseless Acts of Justice Hector: Badge of Carnage - Episode 3: Beyond Reasonable Doom If you want a genre breakdown go to the game guide.
Bumping this and adding that I think the genre is sidescrolling RTSs? So... what is the best sidescrolling RTS.
Crystal War isn't even available unless you're a beta tester. I haven't played Tiny Defense. Legendary Wars Cartoon Wars Cartoon Wars 2: Heroes Cartoon Wars: Gunner Army of Darkness Defense Battleheart Siegecraft Plants vs Zombies
I'll try to help narrow it down a little bit more for injuwarrior and speedy. I bolded the ones I thought were the best from Goofy's lists:
Well, the game that I couldn't remember is called buccaneer blitz.... Ok so far I'd say that I have atleast 5 definites then alot of not sure.. Supremacy wars Battle for Westnoth Air defense 3 kingdoms (free I know but I'm low on disk space) Siegecraft Everthing else is on the fence...
The best RTS, and strategy game for that matter, I've played on the iOS is still Red Conquest. If you're a fan of PC RTS games with tons of unit micromanagement, you'll love Red Conquest. Starfront and LASW probably take second and third place for best iOS RTS games. If you consider Battleheart a strategy game, then definitely get that too. Anomaly and Plants vs Zombies are my two favorite tower strategy games I'd say. For TBS/SRPG, you'll probably want to get FFT, Ravenmark, and Great Little War Game.
I think he wanted side scrolling RTS games. No love for KoDP on the best strategy?!? I think everything is child's play when it comes to KoDP. Hell it's manual beats most games' gameplay...haha...it's cool! 2nd place for strategy is Ravenmark. 3rd is prolly Starbase Orion. I guess I'm huge TBS junkie. Starfront is a pretty good RTS too. I never really got that into Red Conquest...maybe I'll give it another go since you recommend it.
Isn't Darth Ronfar asking for all kinds of strategy games? Yeah, you should definitely give RC another go. The campaign/challenges are great, and multiplayer is really fun if you have someone to play with. I used to play when there was a 4v4 game going on whenever I went online, but thats not the case anymore. Still don't have KoDP yet.
Yeah! I thought you were replying to injuwarrior because he specifically asked for RTS games, but he was looking for the sidescroller type. I'll definitely give RC another go! I don't really remember why I didn't get into it. Pretty sure I'll end up loving it. Yeah, you gotta get KoDp. That game is intense. It's a bit more RPG than TBS IMO though. The back story alone has more RPG in it than a lot of these games coming onto iOS pretending to be RPG. That's why I've somewhat grown to really dislike the term aRPG. RPG and RPG elements need to be separated more. A hack n' slash game where you run around aimlessly with a bit of leveling is not a RPG IMHO.
Thanks guys. Will give army of darkness a try, and I think I might also give red conquest a spin too.
No problem! I highly, highly suggest you check out Legendary Wars. One of the best sidescroller RTS made for iOS. Hell, it even got the Crex seal of approval...
Got it way back when it went free just cause I heard a lot about it and then never played it, so I'll be sure to redownload it and load it up as well.
Lol, I've done the same thing with it! So how fun is Ascendany? Also are Pocket Halfpipe or Lunar Racer worth getting?
Will check out King of Dragon Pass when I get a chance for sure. It was one of Hodapp's top 5 games of the year after all. Red Conquest is an extremely 'hardcore' game. The learning curve is probably as steep as it gets for iOS games. I actually bought it early 2010 soon after it came out, and didn't come back to it until months later since I couldn't get into it. That definitely changed. The controls and interface are built from the ground up for the iOS. It's also one of the very few iPhone games that play better with 2x mode on the iPad. But yeah, definitely my favorite RTS and strategy game on the AppStore.
KoDP is an intresting game. To fully enjoy it, however, one needs to invet a lot of time to read all of the lore that the game holds to understand some of the things that happen. I haven't had enough time to read all of that so I haven't played in a while(no time). I did however play about 8 hours (2.5 playthroughs) without knowledge of the lore and found it very enjoyable.
You might be waiting a while cause it was on sale all holidays and was just put back up to full price a couple days ago I think
