  1. Hey!

Im looking for an arpg/krpg similar to EpicHearts, DemonSouls..., with widescreen support.
I've already played SoL, Aurum Blade and a few more.
    Which others did I miss?

    Thanks :)

I'm a fan of Dragon Knight IV. Also, if I recall correctly Exitium has widescreen support. Post in the games thread your impressions if you go for one, I'll be curious.

Cavern, WazHack, The Dungeon, or Dungeon Plunder.

Legends of Yore is good too, if not too retro-pixel cutesy.

Post in the games thread your impressions if you go for one, I'll be curious.

  4. Im going to check it right now, thanks!

Hey guys! (I'm new to the forms and this is actually my first post!)

Anyway, I've recently received a bunch of iTunes ($70 to be precise) and would love to see what your recommendations are on what you think I should buy! (And why etc.)
Although this doesn't help, I play a wide verity of games # but do really enjoy RPG's and action - (/) adventure games (Zenonia / The Legend of Zelda for example) and have never played the FF series...
Some games I'm looking to buy (more of what I like) is Bastion (yep I don't have it..!) something from the gangstar series (Vegas? Rio? Or even a GTA if it's better? What do you guys think) Bit.Trip Run and Scribblenaughts Remix (again these are only some games I'm looking to buy, so are they good[?] and do you guys have anything to recommend??) as I said, I've got LOTS of iTunes to spend!!

Thanks soooo much in advance! ~Vexka

Edit: Yes I do realise I did miss out on a bunch of Xmas Sales a few weeks ago for a bunch of games #

    Definitely get Bastion.

Bit trip Run is great, and so is Scribblenauts, but Scribblenauts is kinda old so I'm not sure how it runs on iOS7.

Gangstar Vegas is definitely the best one, though the GTA games are better. Only difference is the Gangstar games have better graphics and won't drain you battery as fast. So I would go with your favorite GTA then wait for Gangstar Vegas to go on sale (it usually does)

I'm a tad tired so generally I forget about a few games when I'm tired, but DEFINITELY check these few out:

Oceanhorn (closest thing to Zelda on iPhone)
    Meltdown
    Heroes & Castles
    Ravensword Shadowlands
    The Shadow Sun
    Bardbarian
    Across Age 2
Infinity Blade 1, 2, & 3 (the 1st doesn't have widescreen support for the newer iPhones FYI. So it'll have black bars on either side when you play)
    Hero Siege

Do you like Tower Defence games?

Also: Keep an eye out for a game called Battleheart Legacy. It's coming out sometime this year and it should be right up you alley. There's a thread in the Upcoming section and I'm sure TA will have a bunch more articles on it in the near future

Thank you so much for your reply!
Bastion and Bit.Trip Run are a definite, and I don't think Scribblenauts has any issues with iOS 7 from what I've seen (My cousin uses the same iPad and iOS as I do) but will still check on it ;)

I agree with you in the GTA games, so I'll either get VC or SA (haven't played much GTA so I'll just do a bit of research on them! -- Also Touch Arcade liked SA a little bit more didn't they? I would look but I literally woke up where I am so...)

From your list of games I only have IB 1 + 2 (NOT 3 though) and Ravensword Shadowlands (which I bought upon release) which leaves me with lots of options!
Oceanhorn looks great and really caught my eye when I first saw and read about it when Touch Arcade reviewed it (yup, totally windwaker.. Kinda anyway!) :D
Other than that, Across Age 2, Meltdown and the upcoming Battleheart Legacy all seem to catch my eye in one way or another possibly more or less than each other so I'll look at more videos and go smash a couple "Buy" buttons!

Just to finish tower defence games aren't my favourite type of game and I don't really play many of them (at all)

Once again thanks so much for replying and will check out those games IMMEDIATELY!! :D :D

I agree with the previous recommendation. Sword of Fargoal is an excellent roguelike - my favorite. Right behind SoF would be Cavern and then a rogue-lite would be Hoplite and 868-Hack. 100 Rogues is a bit over rated in my opinion. Hoplites beauty is in its simplicity which is more of a chess match and rewards careful and intelligent play. 868-Hack is similar in game play but offers more meat.

    @Vexka

    Check out the Following

Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic
    Slayin
    Knights of Pen & Paper

If you want to play one FF you should Play FFIV

and i think you should get Scribblenauts it's fun but short. You can finish it in 3-4hrs. But the sandbox mode is fun there. Try summoning Medusa and find a way to kill it!

    Thanks for your response!

KOTOR is a one I should look at as (like most people would be? Lol) I'm a massive Star Wars fan and the game looks awesome!
I heard about Knights of Pen & Paper but have never really looked at it so it'll be interesting to look at and I've never heard of Slayin (well just reading over this makes me think I have...?) so like Knights of Pen & Paper it'll be interesting to find out about it!

Also about Scribblenauts, is it worth buying the extra level packs do you think? I wouldn't be asking this but reading comments on it, a few people after some updates lose these levels and apparently "restore IAP" doesn't work? :| (just what I've read on reviews in the App Store...)

Again, thanks for a response and I'll definitely remember FFIV and slaying medusa's 'shiny hiney'!! ;)

Since you said that you enjoy RPG's you should really get those three I've mentioned

KOTOR will take you 35-45hrs of gameplay to finish it on your first try.
Slayin is on the Top 1 paid in the US never heard of it!?
Knights of Pen & Paper is a turn based strategy RPG with 6 characters that posses 4 unique skill each. There is a level up system yes!

the world packs in Scribblenauts gives you access to future DLC's although i haven't bought it yet but i think it's worth getting it.

I suggest getting FFIV right away because FFVI will come soon. So you will be familiarized with the game. It has a great Plot too.

Thanks one again for all your assistance, I'm about to pick up KOTOR (finally!) and I'll probably put Knights of Pen & Paper on my phone along with Scribblenauts!
Although I'm probably not gonna pick up FF at the moment (and slayin) I'll certainly look into the FF series! (yeah I'm still not quite sure on it - I'll go watch some videos on it though and might persuade myself to pay that 'what seems to be' hefty price tag! (Or wait for FFVI for a fresh start, though yes I won't know much about the story etc.)

Man, between Bastion, Oceanhorn and what will be KOTOR joined with some others, I'm not gonna know what to play! (Loving both Bastion and Oceanhorn at the moment)
    ~Vexka

Also: With KOTOR I can play as a Jedi or a Sith can't i? So that's DOUBLE the game time of around 35 hours or so! Awesome!! And I don't think I'm gonna be bothered in waiting for another price drop on it - if there is one (I'll be months from now anyway) :D
And yes I've definitely seen Slayin, (*duh* for me) it's #1 on the AUS App Store (for iPhone, #12 on iPad App Store)

Hey, I wanted to thank you all for the answers, and I'll address some of them soon, but first, I wanted to get to this:

Of these three, I played Heroes of Loot early on in my search for rogue-likes (it came recommended highly). It's fun, to be sure, but it is more like a procedurally generated twin-stick shooter to me: none of the pickups have any drawbacks and you fight in real-time with no ammo, so there is literally no reason not to pick up every drop you see and spam your abilities as much as possible. Really, the game *should* have come with a high score chart, arcade-style.

There is fun to be had here, to be sure, but the game doesn't have the cerebral challenge of the traditional rogue-like, so much as it is a reflex-tester. If you're into that, go for it, but it seems odd to call it a "rogue-like", so much as it is "arena shooter wearing Rogue's skin".

What's the best action-RPG? Besides Bastion and Mage Gauntlet.

I can't wait until I can answer these questions with Battleheart Legacy

    But until then, check out:

    Ravensword Shadowlands
    The Shadow Sun
Infinity Blade 1,2,3 (although maybe not these)
    Heroes & Castles
    Horn
    Oceanhorn
    Slayin (kinda)
    Dungeon Hunters
    Zenonia

If you like diablo style games try lesabel. It's a very good premium dungeon crawler. Much better then the shitty mess DH got into. Also if you don't have it get Bastion. Probably one of my favorite iOS games.

EDIT: Oh sorry didn't see other then bastion. But still lesabel is good

Also get Aralon, it's by the people who made ravensword and in my opinion is better.
