Have enough for a 1.99 game - Mikey Hooks - Bardbarian - Strike Force Heroes On one hand, Bardbarian is getting fantastic impressions and reviews and I'd have enough for another 0.99 game. On the other, I'm currently playing through Shadow Blade, another precision platformer like Mikey Hooks probably isn't necessary. And on the other, Strike Force looks like a lot of fun, and a cool mix of a runner with combat mechanics
Bardbarian no doubt. Plus you'll have a dollar leftover still. Strike Force Heroes is getting an update that fixes a lot of gamebreaking bugs and glitches with the platform placement in later levels. Wait until then to get it
Seeing that I've never played a Mikey game, I tried the free Halloween one and it's really good. I spent like the last twenty minutes on the first level, shaving down my times to get three stars. So Hooks is more challenging and more varied? Think I'm leaning towards Mikey Hooks...but Bardbarian's action TD hybrid looks really polished and the devs are already working on new content.
I've actually never played a Mikey game either because they've never really interested me that much, but I am enjoying Bardbarian so much. It's basically my back up crack that's holding me over till Battleheart Legacy. But I mean 20 minutes on 1 level? Seems a like a lot haha. Although I've definitely done the same with Super Splatform... Mikey games just seem like a time suck idk why I say Bardbarian if you like Battleheart, Snake, Colossatron, or Shellrazer at all.
Well it's like trying to earn a gold medal in Splatform. You need to learn the level, find the perfect path through to get the best time.
Of course I'm biased as to which game you should get. But I'm glad you enjoyed the Halloween version. Too bad you missed out on Mikey Shorts when we had the FREE sale last month. Hooks is definitely the most challenging Mikey game to date (though still on the easier side), and a bit more varied in terms of obstacles, enemies, and the fact that you can fail (die) in a level. If you do decide to get Hooks, then please let us know what you think!
Totally forgot that the Mikey devs were TA forum members. Well that's that. I always support games by members of the forums I frequent
Haha, no worries! I actually take it as a compliment. Well, if you really like the Mikey games, then I'd hope you'd get into the speedrunning aspect of it at which point it will become a time suck when you are playing the same level over and over. But I know that isn't for everyone. Before releasing Mikey Shorts I was so scared as to what people would think of the game. But I was ecstatic when after a day or two some people still couldn't get past playing the very first level, because they just kept retrying and retrying to get that perfect run!
Right, I'm just wondering if there are some that you actually prefer playing on the phone compared to the ipad.
Seems like a lot of people are looking for mmorpgs. Maybe we could have a sub thread? I know I still am looking for one in the same vein as order and chaos or a larger Celtic heroes. Celtic seemed to get strangely small and have large grind gaps. Anything else I can run on my crappy iPhone four? I don't mind having the small screen real estate. Action oriented mmorpgs are great too
I am looking for the best roguelike available on iOS--at least, to suit my tastes. I would like: - A game that is punishingly difficult, but not unfairly so. I would like to avoid "adventure game" logic (ex. deaths that are completely random and disconnected from your decisions as cause and effect go), but a game that punishes poor gameplay decisions and rewards strong gameplay. - Permadeath, and preferably "endless" gameplay (a game that scales to infinity, or at least arbitrarily high; I don't want to beat the game, so much as I want to beat my personal best) - Randomly generated (no rote memorization) - Preferably with a less "cute" aesthetic (Dungelot doesn't particularly appeal to me on this basis; I don't want to see Om Nom in my permadeath dungeon-crawler). - No IAP currencies. Period.
Have you played Sword of Fargoal? Has pretty much everything you're asking for. While it has a goal, you can instead just keep delving deeper and deeper.
While I haven't yet tried it, ENDING has been recommended to me countless times and I believe fits your requirements. There's a bit of puzzle influence in the game, and apart from the tutorial or training levels, it's all randomized. I also second Sword of Fargoal, one of my favorites on IOS. Dungeonism is cool too, but no permadeath and has an unusual (I find it awesome) aesthetic. If you fail, you lose everything you gained in that level and have to restart. Each of the 10 zones have an endless mode too.
You could try Trial By Survival. Post apocalyptic zombie dual stick shooter with almost everything that you described. Its F2P but the survival pack IAP is a one time purchase that will make the game a premium experience. The coins you use to scavenge other players' inventories can be earned easy enough, they are available as IAP for people who don't want to spend time earning them...
