Soooo, word games. I'm having trouble deciding between Spelltower and Puzzlejuice. I am leaning towards Spelltower, but some of the App Store reviews are making me wary (crashy, buggy, abandonware, etc). I'm not as big a fan of match three (or match anything) type of games, but Puzzlejuice also looks fun. What do you guys think?

Also, other word games would be nice too, especially clean minimalistic ones like Spelltower.

Thanks, just picked up QatQi and Wooords, and will probably buy Spelltower.(I know I didn't wait for impressions, but I'm impatient. XD)

 

In addition to SpellTower, I would recommend picking up Letterpress: the game requires you play with other people (so your mileage may vary based on Game Center activity and the like), but the rev gives it a lot of love, updates frequently, the game is feature-filled and very strategic, and on the whole, mechanically sound.

Hey guys,

Am only just really getting into iOS gaming and would like some recommendations. I've mainly played some random free games and I haven't been too impressed so I'd like to see some of the best games you guys can think of. I don't have too much money though, I'd like to spend no more than $10 total, preferably a few games instead of one really expensive one.

I enjoy action and arcade style games. Examples of other games I enjoy are Galaga, Pac-Man, Marble Madness, Gradius, that kind of thing. Not too interested in physics puzzle games like Angry Birds or Cut The Rope.

Also if you could mention if your recommendations are compatible with the iCade that'd be great.

Since you're on a budget, I recommend checking out the price drops section regularly and see if there are any games currently on sale that interest you.

You've probably made up your mind by now, but for what it's worth, I'm a Match 3 addict and Puzzlejuice has more of a Tetris-y feel, even though it has those components.

I recently got an iPad and splurged to buy both; I've returned to Spelltower a number of times but am having a bit of trouble with Puzzlejuice - there seems to be a learning curve for me, even though it's nifty. And I haven't had any glitches with Spelltower since I got it sometime last week.

You might want to check out 6 Letter Words, 7 Little Words (similar titles, different gameplay) and the entire MochiBits, Inc company - lots of fun word puzzlers there, like Word Association and Word Wall.

 

If you have an iCade I highly recommend Silverfish Max.

 

Minecraft worth saving for? Currently using GE and get about 3 bucks a week for no effort. Currently have 3 dollars worth, which could get me
Afterburner Burner Climax (99c)
Modern Combat 4 (99c)
Sonic CD(99c)

These worth getting, or should I save for Minecraft. Or should I buy an alternative?
