Are there any decent starship - like Capitol ships, star destroyers, enterprises, etc- simulators for iPhone? I played ascendency on PC back in the day, so I probably won't grab that. Any suggestions?
Starbase Orion (premier iOS native 4x), Spaceward Ho (another classic), Vincere Totus Astrum ("casual 4x"), 9 Colonies. Distant Star is currently free but I haven't played it yet although I hear it's streamlined/casual.
Alright, been struggling with this for a bit. Not crazy about turn-based games, but I keep hearing great things about these titles: Battle Academy Battle of the Bulge Ravensmark Anyone have thoughts about these? Will I like them even though I don't usually like TBS? Which should I get first? Should I get more than one? Help me.
The only one I have is Ravensmark. While it is an excellent TBS, I don't think it'll convert you from not liking the genre.
Yeah if you don't like TBS I think any would be a hard sell, try Battle Academy Lite and see how you go.
hey can someone recommend mission europa? ive been on the rope on this one but im not sure if i should take the dive. the graphics are kinda holding me up even though im not really a graphics freak hahaha. but if the game is good ill dtotally go for it
I consider Mission Europa to be one of, if not the best, game released last year; $4.99 for the Mission Europa Collector's Edition is nearly the best value on iOS. Get the CE because it includes all content versus the standard that has episodic IAP to unlock. There is a ton of content altogether. The game detail with varying skills, a robust crafting system (even by RPG standards), and character customization is unheard of for a first person shooter game (separate dual weapons!). The graphic can seem blocky but they work for a game of this nature developer by one guy and there is nice depth and shadowing on retina with my 5G (and visually a nice throwback to some PC classics). The combat is difficult and challenging so it's better suited for dedicated gamers; I've had some great battle throwdowns. Sadly the only setbacks are that the player versus player feature never took off and the user mailbox to send items to other players appears disabled currently; no widescreen. /rant
Let us know how you find Mission Europa, maybe post impressions in the game's thread [http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=87494&highlight=europa], I'll be curious.
I can attest to Mission Europa being a great game. The only thing that I remember that really held the game back were crashes. Like when teleporting back to towns or entering certain maps, the game would crash even on my iphone 4(used to play on an iPod touch 2nd gen, LoL), making me lose my data back to my last save point. I don't know if this glitch is fixed, but I'd check out the main thread first.
The crash issue was resolved. Here's from the last change log: "Huge bug fix with crashing and sound. Along with non starting. All based in the newly placed in audio system last patch." Some time after initial release the developer updated the engine (because it made advancement in pursuing his upcoming Dungeon Keeper style game) that resulted in some instability, since fixed.
No racing games or FPS because I have too many of those. Isn't rock runners a bit repetitive according to TA?
Um you listen to TA reviews? They gave temple run 2 a 5 but that one less....plus rock runners is broken into levels.
