My votes TWEWY. One of the best games ive played in a long time. Full of story, style, great music and cool mechanics. I tried the free part of Drakerider so I can't speak too much on it, just that I'm not a huge fan of hearing Japanese voice acting and the battle mechanics seemed a little boring.
Paper Monsters/Swordigo would probably satisfy your Mario itch. (no speedruns though, they're more about exploration)
Swordigo is the best platformer that you'll find on the app store. If you are in the mood for some speed runs though, Mos Speedrun is great as well.
If you are looking for speed runs, mikey shorts is the best. hands down a must have, if you don't already.
Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but Crazy Hedgy is my favorite platformer for iOS. It doesn't have achievements, but it has coins to collect and things to upgrade, and it looks pretty nice after the latest update.
Thx for all the great platformer tips . I've played crazy hedgy and got mikey shorts, place 15 global on one level so I'm quite finished with that . Dling paper monsters and one tap hero atm.
99 cents to spend, any good retro games? Pixel artwork, could be either a port or original. Longing for that original NES feel on the touch screen.

Not looking for Sonic, I classify that as one of those "collect [insert round object]" runner games. Basically I'm looking for a 2D version of Swordigo, or 3D if it's really good.
