In a rut, need a really great RPG that isn't a KRPG with terrible 2-frame animations, doesn't have Square tax, and is turn-based.

    Halp meh! :p

Just pay the square tax. Chaos rings is the best iOS exclusive rpg series. FF series and the other classics are exactly that, classics. Well worth paying the extra dollars.

If you're really not willing. Vay or possibly Cthulhu might be your best bets. Neither are krpg's. Vay was originally Japanese and developed for the sega cd. Cthulhu was a retro throwback pc game.

Edit: if you're not running iOS 5+ crimson gem saga might be worth it. It's $10 which is about what square wants for their remakes.

I thought KRPG meant Korean rpg - chaos rings and final fantasy are JRPGs aren't they?

Crimson gem saga I heard was having trouble on certain firmwares(or maybe devices), so beware.

They are jrpg's. That's why I suggested them when asked about good non krpg's. And yeah, apparently crimson gem saga does not work on ios 5+. Ive heard that in multiple places. It looks good though. Hopefully they update soon so it's actually playable.

Rio is the best by far IMO. Best graphically and has the most variety and content!

I would actually say Miami is the best, IMO. Rio is fun, but the story and radio stations suck pretty bad.

I loved riding around in the vehicles (mostly the boats and the helicopters), so that's probably why I think it's the funnest! :p

The redone artwork of FF2 is probably prettier, but I think Chrono Trigger is infinitely better in most other respects.

I only have omega(probly cuz of a sale) and I think it's suppose to be a prequel... So Is probly start with the first one.. Although omega is good if you don't care about not knowing what the he'll is going on for a few hours etc...

    I have a bit of an obsession with 8 & 16 bit games. So far I've got...
    Frogatto,
    Bean's quest,
    Pizza Boy,
    League of Evil,
    Mos Speedrun,
    The Last Rocket,
    1-bit Ninja,
    Spellsword,
    Terra Noctis,
    Astronot,
    Dragon Fantasy,
    Guardian Saga,
Most of Oragepixel's and Rocketcat's games... and I also have the ports of Secret of Mana, Sonic CD, and Shantae... but I hunger for more!

Does anyone know of some good pixely games (not including those irritating “KRPG's” like Zenonia) I might be missing out on?
