You could go two ways with this - you have an iPad, so some might say go with the native resolution version. But in my opinion, I've been playing through it (to try and finish it this time) on my iPad, but I bought the non-HD version back when I used a touch. I'm content. I'll buy Omega after I finish this one, and I'll buy the HD version since it was released with the iPad in mind. My honest thoughts on it are to buy the non-HD for Chaos Rings and then (if you buy Omega) the HD version of that.
How are the games Dungeon Raid and Puzzle Quest 2, and which is better? I'm looking for a good puzzle game like these, and want more features than bejeweled.
I'd say Dungeon Raid is much better than Puzzle Quest 2. The PQ2 interface is really cluttered, and the gameplay drags, with basically the same thing over and over again for many many hours. Dungeon Raid is more varied and also cheaper. There's a pretty good lite version of it if you want to test it out.
Isn't it more of the other way around? Dungeon Raid is a survival game in which each game feels the same with differences only in the skills and equips and choices you make every time you gain a level. It's comparable to rogue-likes. Puzzle Quest 2 is a full-fledged RPG that has killer graphics, tons of customization, many, many classes you can choose from, a great story, intense multiplayer...all tied into the basic match-3 gameplay. Considering the only buttons on screen are the spells you use, I don't see how it could possibly be considered cluttered. The only complaint I have are the long load times.
hi I wonder if are there any game out there similar with "Heroes of might and magic" or "Gundam" (Japanese Mech)?
"killer graphics" - more like squished and cluttered for anyone who doesn't have the hands of a ten year-old. It looks great on the iPad or PC, but on the small-screen, it's easy to make the wrong moves. Not to mention, the game still has tons of delays/choppiness, even on a 4th gen device. "tons of customization" - there's an inventory system, you get to add points to stats each time you level, and you can choose four abilities for each battle. That isn't much. Dungeon Raid is at least equal to or greater in terms of customization. "great story" - you are delving into a dungeon to save the people of the town from an evil monster. sounds pretty generic to me. "intense multiplayer" - yeah, but you have to spend 30-40 hours just to get leveled up enough to compete properly. Honestly, Dungeon Raid is much better. It's also $0.99 to PQ2's $6.99. I've gotten at least 50 hours out of Dungeon Raid and I still haven't gotten bored of it, whereas I got tired of PQ2 after playing through it once.
Lol I guess it's all opinion then. I've never really played a game with a story more than once before in any case...besides a few. Don't want to. Not even something like Dead Space or Chaos Rings deserved the time. Dungeon Raid was really popular here on TA, one of the few games I never agreed on with the general opinion about it. Just couldn't get into it.
I much prefer the 360 version of the original Puzzle Quest to Dungeon Raid, I'm just not fond of the iOS versions. Were they up to scratch quality-wise, I'd go with them but not in the state they're in currently.
Me? I couldn't go on after getting through half of the second team. Never liked turn-based RPGS, so no way in hell was I going to play the same shit that many times. Decided to read up spoilers instead on the ending and secret boss.
Get a PSP if you are REALLY desperate for Gundam games. If you're looking for games that use the license, don't bother. There are none outside the Jap app store. Then again, it really depends on what genre of Gundam games you're looking for. There are a few mecha themed games though.
So... Backtothis says that Puzzle Quest 2 is better and Skymuffin says Dungeon raid is better. I still don't know. Puzzle Quest looks better, but I have seen a lot of hype about Dungeon Raid, plus it's cheaper. Does anyone with both of them have an opinion on which is better?
They're really different games in my opinion. I'd go with Dungeon Raid for since most people around here love it. It's a game that seems to have gotten only positive reviews and comments from around here. Even the writers here loved it. For the price, you might as well check it out and see what it's all about.
I'd say the gameplay is fairly similar, but PQ is presented with flashy graphics and menu screens, wrapped up in some sort of a story. The only problem is that with the enhancements come additional performance problems. DR omits the extra stuff, gets straight to the action and performs wonderfully. It's up to you if you want the bonus content and pretty backgrounds in exchange for losing a bit of stability.
Thanks guys. If they're that different, I might get both of them. I'll just have to look into them more. I just don't really understand how they combine RPG and a match 3 type of game lol.
I did as well, and I gotta say the story is really good! Such a shame that most of it was hidden away to the majority of players who like us were just not bothered to do the exact same thing four times.
