Dinosmash Online ftw. 500+ hours into that game since I got it April 2009. Gotta say it's my favorite game of all time out of any device.

Dofus: Battles is an awesome game as well, especially if you want a fantastic twist on the TD genre. There's a good deal of customization/RPG elements mixed in to make it fun.

Phoenix is the best survival-based shmup/bullet-hell and is a complete steal for a dollar. Tons of fun if you're into the genre and don't want to dish out for the more expensive ones.

I'd pass on Air Penguin. It's inferior in my opinion to the other three on the list by far.

BUMP ROAD IS GAME OF THE WEEK ON ITUNES, BEATING OUT BOTH INFINITY BLADE AND CHAOS RINGS OMEGA. NOW THAT'S WHAT'S UP.

3.5 stars isn't that bad..it's mainly because the developer doesn't really support the game anymore and only focuses on updating Graal. Dinosmash is already perfect though so it's alright.

Whoa never seen or heard of this before. Gotta look it up a bit. Tell me its like smash bros in some sense. Been looking for a game like that forever on ios, and sincerely hoping someone clones smash bros soon.

Hoping for a SSB clone as well. We need one.

Dinosmash Online is a arena deathmatch game, so in some ways, it's like SSB. There's quite a few game modes, ranging from individual deathmatches to team capture the flag, and more. At times, there's not that many people online, but at prime time, which is probably between 4 and 10 PM here, you'll always find rooms filled with people.

Thank you so much. If this is as close as it gets, consider it bought on my part. Gonna be the first game i try out on my new touch. Retina? ahh who cares. When I heard you say dinosmash, I honestly thought you meant that trinity game, ummm dino cap. I though you had gone mad, but this indeed seems like a very hidden gem. Glad to hear online is still robust. Hope the dev sees fit to update it some more soon and hopefully keep the online filled.

It actually does have retina. There's a lite version in any case, which allows you to try everything out. You just can't have your own name or use of the customizations for appearances. Definitely give it a try.
Any RPG really..I'm thinking Galaxy on Fire 2 and Battleheart are high up there. They're two amazing games however you look at them in any case.

Edit: Just picked up Danmaku Unlimited. Played the lite a while back, and it was definitely quality. Here's another great one if you're a fan of bullet hell. Just found out that the full version came out some time earlier this week. Good stuff.

So are any of the new games considered must-haves? SiaT and Bumpy Road are the ones I see being talked about most. Bumpy Roads just doesn't look like my kind of game unfortunately, although the graphics and style look great. I guess I just don't like many endless type games. I like platformers so I'm considering SiaT. Also considering Jump Out! (seems up my alley), Chaos Rings (unfortunately I just don't think I have enough time for a game this huge) and Infinity Blade. Can't decide if IB is up my alley.

Lately I've found I really only go back to simpler pick up and play games. Some games on my main page include Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Bejeweled, Fruit Ninja, iBlast Moki, PvZ, NBA Jam, Espgaluda2, etc. That said, I do really like some big games like RR2, CODZ, NOVA2, DH2, etc. I also generally love puzzle and physics games. Some of my recent purchases include Foodies (ok so far but hasn't completely pulled me in), Angry Birds Rio (took me long enough), Death Rally (awesome) and Ynth (awesome).

    Any suggestions?

hmm, You thought battleheart had lots of customization, i thought it had a decent amount, maybe i just have high standards, though it is mika mobile and they support all their games. galaxy on fire 2 is something i want but 10 dollars is a lot to hand over considering i am using gift cards

^Infinity blade at 2.99 is the best deal IMO right now. It caters to the casual audience much more than you might think, too the point that most people would never call it an RPG. For me it has an addictive quality in its simplistic defend attack gameplay.

Infinity Blade is definitely for you then. It's high quality gaming that can be played in short bursts. When you get the time, playing multiplayer with friends is tons of fun. Perfect balance between casual and hardcore gaming. Chaos Rings is debatably the best RPG on the iOS, and for $3.99, like the other guy said, "it's a bank robbery."
I thought it had quite a good amount. You got to play with so many different characters and could adjust your playing style to how you wished. The skills and equipment added on to that. GoF2 comes with a hefty price tag, but merits the price in every way just like Real Racing 2. It'll be in my top 10 iOS games of all time for a long, long time. Have you tried Bug Heroes? That's another good choice, and another game that honestly belongs in everyone's top 10/20. It's still free actually. So yeah, there's no excuse no to try it. Zenonia 3 is the best KRPG on the iOS, and of course, there's tons of customization in there. Death Rally is another excellent choice, if you don't already have it.

You need Death Rally! First racing game to incorporate leveling and equipments in this fashion. It's a good game anyways, having received three features from Apple already along with three content updates. The multiplayer update is sure to come soon as well.

Real Racing 2 and GoF 2...definitely some must-haves. They're honestly ahead of their time in comparison to the kind of games the AppStore generally offers. Grab them when you get the chance to for sure. They're what any gamer from any console would could great games.

Infinity Blade isn't really an RPG, it's more akin to Punch Out! with items and levels...

P.S.> It is an amazing game to play... until the grind for cash hits (buying the Infinity Blade) and even then it is still fun. I must confess I deleted it some time ago to make room though - and unless there is some other large content upgrade I doubt I'll be putting it back on any time soon (even for multiplayer.)

Thanks for the info. I may pick this one up. The awesome looking graphics actually scared me off a bit making me think it was too big for me these days for lack of a better word. Is it basically a 1 on 1 fighting game?

Yeah thats what I was saying. The leveling up is closer to say leveling up your cars in real racing 2, in other words not at all like most rpgs. Yeah I really enjoyed the hell out of it. Multiplayer and survival add it some great lasting value on my device. I don't see myself deleting it since the gameplay just really worked for me. The grind is the most brutal part, and it really makes you wish the world was more expansive. I do not mind it being point and click, but could you just imagine two or three times as many spots and a ton of paths to the god king (or mech). Maybe a Inifnity Blade 2 .

Gameplay is very simple. You dodge, block with a shield, and parry (this the hardest but most rewarding, you will not be using it much at first) until you get a break, then swipe like crazy. Rinse and repeat. Add on a supper power that gives you an immediate break to attack, along with some magic to do damage or heal, and you've got the game. You'll pick it up quickly, and with tons of checkpoints, its as easy to get into each session as doodle jump (props to chair for playing the platform nicely but I wished it had a main menu).

Thanks. Ive come to really appreciate your opinion on games. Is IB basically a 1 on 1 fighting game?

How are the controls on CR? I've never really liked the controls on any of the pure RPGs on iDevices.

How do you like the new releases?
