spoiler tab at the end of the line (with bold and underline and stuff). It's spoi and black and white. AND NO WORLD OF GOO?????
Spoiler but now everyone figures out the main character dies in the end because they read your comment! Back to the topic, Myst or Riven? (I never played them and just found out they have iOS ver. )
The premise, sound, and graphics are all pretty unique. I expected a game with levels, and didn't figure out until I voluntarily lost on round 33 that it was a high-score type game. In a way, that's kind of disappointing, since the gameplay feels so slow, and it always starts from the easy levels at the beginning, even if the correct monsters change each time. Well actually, you can skip to level 20 it seems, but I don't know, it feels repetitive to me. It's not a bad game, but feels way too casual for my test. Also, there's no menu screen and or leaderboards. After level 30, my eyes start hurting from trying to keep track of multiple monsters moving to different locations at the same time. An interesting premise and good presentation packed with way too little substance.
I am not sure which is better on the iphone, but myst is the first game in the series and the one i enjoyed more on the pc. I think you need to play myst first not 100% sure though.
Regardless of it's flaws , whatever it has currently is pretty darn good IMO . I do agree that they should have done levels instead of a high score type of game . let's just see what the dev says . I'm really hoping he / they would listen to some of their user feedback . I'm at level 30 and I've yet to get bored of it . It's kind of like Helsing's Fire . The reason I like this game is because there isn't a time limit . I really really really ... I can't stress this enough , but I really hate games with time limits . LoE is excellent but it could have been better w/o the time limit IMO . Same goes for Land-a Panda and Cut the rope . Hence IMO , Helsing's Fire is ranked above them all . Plus I love casual games (I know for one that you're don't consider yourself a casual gamer) But nevertheless , I don't think it's a wasted 0.99 . It's got potential but they just need to know how to use it . I'll post your feedback on their thread as well for them to see .
Sounds good. Indeed, I don't like the time factor in puzzle games either; mainly because once you've figured out how to beat a level, you can redo the level again and score a good time; therefore, the time factor becomes pointless. Yes, there's indeed a lot of potential here. Let's see how it goes. Maybe it'll get a feature by Apple tomorrow.
If you want to know why I don't like the time factor (you probably don't but I'll just say it ) is that it forces me to rush through games which could have their gameplay extended even longer if we had to think about what we had to do and complete it in one round / try rather than restart and retry again and again (which can get very frustrating) and figure it through trial and error by removing one option at a time which 100% IMO removes all the fun . Plus like you said , once you know how to do it , time becomes redundant on the second try .
What a crappy Wednesday night for releases..no doubt the worst one of 2011 thus far. Grabbing Mos Speed Run and Pac'N-Rush..there's really nothing else, literally. Disappointed that World of Goo didn't make it ...keeping hope alive that it'll be here by the weekend xD.
