Dungeon Hunter/Dungeon Hunter 2 Zenonia/Zenonia 2 Aralon Across Age I'd pass on any turn-based ones for now as they're much harder to grasp and less forgiving. (Chaos Rings, Crimson Gem Saga, Final Fantasy, etc.) I'd honestly go with Dungeon Hunter 2 first. It's fun and forgiving. It has terrific graphics, and you can even get some friends to help in online mode. The customization is pretty basic as well, and it's made in a way to attract newcomers to the genre. You'll learn the basics of every RPG: distributing stats points, building skill trees, and having fun with a ton of different equips. The story isn't half bad either. If you have any questions about iOS RPGs, definitely ask. I've played them all, literally.
Depends on your personal taste, for me it's Wild Frontier and Zenonia series but I assume Aralon and/or Chaos Rings are a good start for first time player, if you have the money that is. I haven't played both though, because I use my money to buy food and pay electricity.
It's the best realistic fighting game the iOS offers. Nothing out so far even comes close. Actually, nothing else that's out from the same genre should even be compared to the game. It takes a close second for fighting games overall behind SFIV. EA definitely did it again with a third release of a must-have game this year. I hope a fourth one finds its way into the AppStore soon.
I've been looking for a good RPG myself. Im not new to the genre, however I havent played many on this iOS platform. I've played the first Zenonia and like it and thought about getting the second one. What would you recommend?
Hm, interesting. I'm still on the fence, though I have a question that'll push me on either side. How long is the career mode (in comparison with MMA)?
http://www.rpg-site.com/index.html Rpg-site.com is a comprehensive list of iOS RPGs to consider but recommendations below... - Being unsure what you'll like consider these freebies to test the waters... Undercroft (quality first person turn based), Kyle's Quest (traditional RPG), Catacombs (action RPG), Seed 1 (action RPG, freemium), and iNetHack (roguelike). The Quest Lite and Across Age DX Lite are free lite/trial versions to sample. - If you're wanting an introduction to traditional RPGs (turn based world exploration) I suggest Final Fantasy and/or Ash. iOS Final Fantasy is less difficult that original release so easier for novices but the game is lengthy (it's so good I put it in my signature). Ash is the premier iOS exclusive traditional RPG. Even as a kid I was a tradition RPG junkie and I highly recommend this format but it might be less trendy these days. I haven't played it yet but am personally pumped to try Crimson Gem Saga. Phantasy Star II was popular back in the day but the iOS port may be less pristine. - For action/RPG hybrids some KRPGs that are lesser known but seem well regarded include Terra , Itrarus, and Wild Frontier . Zenonia 1is good also. - Western RPGs that seem valid include Dungeon Hunter II (which is expected to go on sale for $0.99 on 03/12/11 and is a supposedly good Diablo clone), Aralon, and Xenome ($0.99). Mission Europa has not been released yet but when it comes out that should rock things. - The Quest Gold is probably the most comprehensive RPG on iOS (especially when you factor in the multiple expansions). - One "word": Battleheart I'm a sucker for RPGs so let us know what you go with and how it comes across to you.
undeadcow made a pretty helpful post above this one, so go check that out. But first, do you know what kind of RPG you're interested in playing next? If you want something like Zenonia, definitely grab the second one along with Wild Frontier, which is pretty darn amazing for $0.99. The top three KRPGs in my opinion are Zenonia 2, Wild Frontier, and Inotia 3. If you're looking for something with turn based combat, grab Ash, Chaos Rings, or Crimson Gem Saga. These three definitely take the lead for the sub-genre. Dungeon Hunter 2 and Aralon are both pretty great "western" RPGS, although DH2 feels like something in the vein of Diablo, a dungeon looter. Ask if you have any questions. I've never been a big fan of RPGs that are completely turn based so I can't recommend Undercroft, The Quest, Rimelands, etc.
Usually if no one answers its because they don't know. If you want multi-player id go for chess with friends for computer you could try Chess Free by Optime Software I cant say anything about Chess: Battle of the elements because i wont pay for a chess game when there are several great free ones.
Thanks for the comprehensive help. Dungeon Hunter 2 is going on sale on 3-12, so I'll be waiting for it.
Thanks man, I got Wild Frontier and Zenonia 2 for .99 each, and I splurged on Chaos Rings when it was 5.99, so I'm all set.
Here's a somewhat recent discussion of chess games. It should help you decide. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=79901&highlight=chess
Gizmodo gave it app of the day [Link]. I think it looks good. I would get it but i dont like line drawing games.
