How's Assassin's Creed for 99 cents? Is it worth it?

  3. The first one is horrible. Stay far away from it.

Dude, it wasn't that bad! I actually quite liked it, and despite it's upgrades on the iPhone, it just didn't feel as comfortable on there as it did playing it on the DS.

But for a buck, it's a good deal. I got it for $10 and don't regret the decision.

I agree. If you're gonna call one of the AC games on the idevice trash, it's the second one. The first one is very fun.

  6. I actually prefered the stealth-platformer gameplay in the second one to the typical 3D platformer gameplay of the first game. >_<

The second one wasn't bad either, but it was so laggy on some devices that you couldn't even play it. Unfortunately, my device falls into that category.

Btw, whatever happened to Assassin's Creed 2 multiplayer? That game was THE GAME for a few days, then it just... died.

I bought the first one. I resolved to never buy anything from Gameloft ever again. It was so bad I wanted to hurt myself. An abomination of a game.

    Never tried two, never will.

So you don't have Modern Combat 2?! Shame on you!

Archetype is good, but I prefer Modern Combat 2. What kind of games do you like so we can give some $0.99 suggestions?

For my money, it's the best FPS (online) on the app store. Be warned, "auto shoot" is default so it's really more about the movement and aim moreso than hitting "shoot" at the right time.

This turns off many gamers, but for me provides a truer "fps" feel on the iDevices. Other popular fps like Modern Combat 2 don't have enough buttons (or I don't have enough fingers) to copy the movement (ducking, strafing, circle strafing) along with shooting that a console shooter has.

Freeing up your shooting finger makes the game play out more like a traditional fast paced online shooter (think Quake/Unreal Tourny ect) as no one is stopping to shoot, look down iron sites ect.

Also, it runs over 3g so you can play online as long as you have a 3g connection. No wifi needed!

For $.99 it's a pretty good deal if you care for shooters, however others simply hate it due to the lack of "manual shooting".

No, it seemed like the usual Oh-my-god-[well known console game]-on-the-ipod! Then we proceed to showing all of our friends, gasping in wonder at the graphics, and talking about the glorious future of IOS hardcore games instead of actually playing the game because its controls and campaign suck.

But I'll never know until I buy it!

Yeah i saw on a youtube video and there was an option to turn off autofire. how would you shoot if that were turned off? id rather do it manually but its not to much of a bother. but in games like Eliminate it was a problem.
i think i might buy it though, it didnt look like a fast paced game but if it is im sold xD
@ChrisL i just like anything thats fun really, simple but fun games. i was also considering the full version of dinosmash, are there any benefits to it? and ill have to check my apps soon, i forgot all the apps ive bought.

Haha, that's true. But in my opinion, the controls are quite good. The only thing I have trouble with is hitting the grenade button and sometimes it switches to the flash grenade :p And yea, I don't even play the campaign, just multiplayer :p

Got $1.99 to spend, so I'm debating between Revolt or Zombie Highway with another dollar game. Thoughts?

  17. I prefer Revolt. Easily one of the best dual-stick shooters on the iPhone IMO.

    @jjjmedia

Haven't yet taken the plunge on Zombie Highway, but people seem to LOVE it for a pick-up-and-play game.

Revolt, on the other hand, I can vouch for. Realllly cool dual-stick, and I can't wait to see what updates come down the pipeline in the future. Don't regret the purchase for a second.

I will answer in a haiku:

    You should get Revolt
    instead of Zombie Highway

Finally bothered to play some cut the rope after it's sat idol since debut day. Gotta say it's the best puzzle game there is. Sadly it only takes 2 hours or less to finish all the levels and getting 3 stars for each. Can't wait for new packs!
