I'm planning on buying some adventure game... Can you recommend me one that packs the most bang for the buck? I was thinkin' about Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Reasons why should I get it, why is the game so popular, good? My own reason is basicaly that I never played it (unlike other adventure games on iPhone: Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Sky) ... and it seems like an interesting setting -> courtroom + csi
phoenix wrights really unique. being a lawyer is much more fun than you would think. you go through 5?(havent finished yet) cases and they are pretty lengthy. i highly reccommend it!
The Broken Sword? Personally, I like the above games more than PW, but I enjoyed PW quite a lot, too. Yes, the court gameplay is a great idea, that I wish some other Dev would steal and run with. Be warned though, that the game only really comes into it's own beginning with the third case. The cases get progressively longer and more intricate, too.
Yeah I've been thinking about Broken Sword and Beneath a Steel Sky... The thing is I played all those adventures on PC. But with Ace Attorney being strictly GBA & DS series I haven't played... So I was thinking about getting it for iPhone. Anyways, so you say it's a good game. Story etc. I probably will get it then
Hold it! Bring me coffee! I need DARK COFFEE. MILK WILL DESTROY THE ESSENCE OF THE POWERFUL, BITTER TASTE. *Drinks some down* Ahh, that's better. Now, *Slams hand on desk, slides empty mug away* I will object your objection!
Objection! I didn't object you being the best verbal duelist here, ergo your objection is irrelavent.
Well, aside from the fact that it has some control and graphical adjustments, nothing else has really been changed from what I hear. If that's enough to warrant a $1 upgrade, then by all means get it, but there are plenty of other ways to get more for your money.
For some reason I never played P&C adventures on PC, so luckily all these classics were new and fresh to me. I also suspect that I loved them even more than I would have otherwise because of portability. Speaking as somebody who also first played it on the Ipod, it is a good game, the case stories are interesting, as is the over-arching theme. The court mechanic is a great twist on adventure gameplay. It does have what I assume to be GBA-level graphics and sound, except for the 5th case, which was made when it was ported to DS. No voice-over either. The investigation phase is somewhat underwhelming after the adventure classics. PW also follows certain Japanese sensibilities and has a lot of melodrama. I enjoyed it a lot though - not as much as adventure gems from Revolution Software and Lucas Arts, but right behind them.
