You make me sick... Ignore this comment. The graphics in Phoenix Wright are great. Sure, they're not the most amazing or detailed graphics, but they do what they were designed to. They give each character and location personality. Honestly, the character sprites made it much easier for me to get a good idea of what kind of person each character was, much more easily than if it were a strictly text-based game.
So you're saying people should ignore my comment on a game, just because our opinions differ. Wow, really mature! I know, I haven't played it, but after reading all the praise it got from people here (including you), I checked videos and screens, and I can surely say, that the graphics are TERRIBLE.
For giving an opinion about its gamellay, people have to play it, but to form an opinion about the graphics of a game, watching videos is more than enough. Also, as I don't plan on spending even this much money on a game that, as I already said, looks terrible, I can't see why you would recommend to play it.
The graphics fit the gameplay. Stop being so rigid minded. How would hook champ look with gameloft graphics? Awful, that's what. The 8-bit graphics fit the game. Same with phoenix wright; the beautiful sketches go well with the gameplay. As I said, play the game before criticizing it. And just because you think its terrible, I should not recommend it? Wow
Hook Champ has a style that is about as much acceptable as PW, but I like retro style graphics, but I simply hate too-simple graphics that, as you said, are only sketches. About recommending it... Who said you can't? It was just strange, that you recommended me a game with graphics I hate.
I was being a bit sarcastic. It's one of my all time favorites, so I try my best to counter any negative opinions with a better positive comment regarding the same topic. Plus, it's not like I just said to ignore the comment without giving any reason why I disagreed with your point. On top of that, graphics are definitely not everything in this game. It's one of those rare games where most people can look at it and say absolutely nothing about the graphics. Sure, when you're looking at screens, videos, etc. your first thoughts may be about the graphics, but once you start playing, they don't affect the game at all. Your main focus will be on the storylines and the characters, not how nice they look. It can almost be compared to looking at a book and going "I really don't like this font" or "Man, that's an ugly cover" and therefore not liking the book. Sure, it may not be a good thing, but it doesn't affect the book or game for the most part.
Guys, it's their opinion, so it's not really right to say 'ignore this and that', however strange it seems to you. Just take comfort in the fact that their opinion is so greatly overwhelmed. That said, Balu, you seem to have quite high standards for visuals, or lack appreciation of 2D art. In my opinion, of course.
What is with the overhype of Phoenix Wright, it really isn't that great, this is worse than the PvZ hype, I bought it after the hype was over and enjoyed it, but won't be getting this anything soon... I have better ways to spend $5
You may be right, and I think it is good to have someone to argue with, instead of turning an argument into a pointless flamefest (like with Fruho), but I must say, the book example is bad, because when I read a book, I don't see that cover, only the letters, but when I play a game with grqphics that are this much different from what I like, I cant stop thinking "God, how awesome this would be with good graphics!". It's the same reason why I stopped Zenonia' lite after few minutes.
